You pay for the quality. Mrs. Kim is a wonderful seamstress. She did the "original hem" on pants for me, did a super complicated evening gown alteration and adjusted my partner's tuxedo pants in a jiffy. She seems busy with customers and always seems to be working very hard. Given that, I appreciated she hustled on some of my urgent alteration requests because a dress shipping delay for a gala event I had. I went into this establishment with hopes to get some alterations completed. There were no other customers at the counter upon my entry. As I proceeded to inquire about pricing, I was pushed to the side and told I had to wait. She proceeded to attend to a customer that was exiting the fitting room. She was extremely rude. IMO, it felt very racist. I decided to exit as this isn't an established I desire to spend my money but it's also an established that doesn't care to serve black people. read more

In the middle of November I approached this store and met Kim with a unique request for an alteration that I could gamble had never been asked before. I was attending the Atlanta Falcons versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers game on December 20th, and wanted to sew together two Tom Brady Jersey's (one from the Patriots and the other from the Buccaneers. What we discussed was what I could imagine to be a very mentally taxing and detailed process, but Kim rose to the challenge. A couple days before the game, I walked into the store to find a jersey that not only met, but exceeded my expectations and requests. It was by far worth every extra day and dollar that was needed because her professional work was astounding. At the game I received numerous compliments on the intricate detail done on the jersey, and quite a couple interests in where one could be acquired. I told them that it was unique in its own way; there are none on the market that even light a candle to this jersey. Thank you to Kim and the staff; I would unequivocally recommend them again and again. My only suggestion is make sure you give a deadline that is earlier than what you need just incase there is some build up of requests! Got a pair of pants hemmed here. The pants were only worn once and it came undone. We were busy with wedding planning so didn't get a chance to go back to the store until a couple weeks later. We were charged again because we didn't come soon enough. Not only did we have to pay twice for something that was done poorly the first time, but also the attitude of this place was rude. Make sure you have cash for anything under $5 otherwise you'll get scolded. I would look elsewhere for alteration needs. Poor quality and poor customer service can be expected here. read more

I was blown away by Kim's alterations! I had a bridesmaids dress that needed to be let out, but the fabric/boning made it really complicated. I was turned away by another tailor before trying Kim's. At first they told me they couldn't do it either, but after I begged they said they would try. Sure enough, it looks amazing! I can't even see where they let the dress out but it fits SO much better now. And I don't know a ton about pricing for this kind of thing but I paid around $50 which I thought was fare, considering how tough of a job it apparently was. Highly recommend! read more

I used Kim's Alterations for a bridesmaids dress and will not be back. The dress was way too tight when I picked it up (getting it on was a two man job). I asked the owner if it was secure, and she said yes. Wedding day: 30 minutes into wearing the dress, it burst wide open and I was being sewn back into it by an angel on the catering team. I took all wedding photos facing right, because I was fully nude on the left. When I returned to Kim's to discuss the problem, she claimed it was not her fault. The dress fit fine when I brought it in.... I wanted the armpits taken in and instead it was made into a body con. Go somewhere else if you have the option! read more

I had to get a main compartment zipper replaced on a backpack of mine. Unless I missed a call, it was finished a week later than promised. And despite the zipper having a waterproof covering when handed in, it was returned without. All that said, I was happy with the result. I knew going in my zipper replacement was a rare specialty job, to say the least. All things considered, I think they did a good job. I would go back and would recommend. read more

Unfortunately they are unable to assist in tailoring carhart pants. This is apparently due to the material being to difficult to mend? I took it to another tailor and had no issue. I took a pair of black leather boots to Kim's to get the zipper on one of them repaired. They gave me a fair estimate up front and did a great job fixing the zipper - it works like new! And they polished up both of the shoes which was a nice touch. I think they forgot to call me when it was done though - no big deal, since it was around the Thanksgiving holiday and I was out of town anyway, but I did have to call to see if I could pick them up when I was back in town. Overall, a sweet, polite family-owned business who does quality work and won't empty your wallet! I'll be back for my other shoe needs. read more

I usually come to this place to dry clean my clothes but I recently brought in my leather jacket to have it altered and I was very happy with how it turned out. This is a pretty busy shop, which I took as a good sign when I went. I gave the owner about 4 pairs of shoes with heels that had been chewed up by my dog, and another pair of heels that constantly needed to be replaced. I was asked whether I wanted to pay half or all upfront, and I paid all. It took about a week for pick up. When I came back, she didn't believe that I had paid the full amount already (about $50 for 5 pairs to be re-heeled and re-soled). Luckily, I kept the receipt and showed her, and she apologized (but still in disbelief). When I got home and took a good look and wear at the shoes, though, I was delighted. They re-heeled and re-soled the shoes very well with good, strong materials. And that pesky pair of troublesome heels? Like brand new! read more

It is what it looks like: a very basic, no-frills shoe repair. I dropped off a pair of heeled suede booties to get the heel repaired (from basic wear) and walked into the messy store with the Korean lady at the counter. I explained I only wanted the heel fixed, and she asked if I wanted to pay a little more to get the whole thing cleaned / scrubbed. I said okay, and the whole thing came out to about $20, which is pretty cheap. My boyfriend picked up the shoes for me a week later and laughed at her organization: he handed her the ticket, and she asked him what the shoes looked like. He said he wasn't sure but spotted a shoe on the table (which was piled with shoes) that looked familiar to him, then she spots the other a few feet away. Well, organization aside, the rubber they used on the heel was thick, good quality rubber, and cut to fit the size / shape of the heel perfectly. There were some scratches/scuff marks/discoloration along the length of the heel, which they attempted to clean up by painting it a *slightly* different shade of brown, but still it looked a ton better than what it used to be. My boyfriend has tried the Russian or Polish guy in Ansley Square around the block, and the guy did a beautiful job with replacing the entire sole from the bottom of his expensive leather shoes. But for those of us less high maintenance and more cost conscious, I'd definitely come back for the no-frills service. read more

I brought my bridesmaid dress to Kim about 10 days prior to the wedding. The dress was too long and tight in the chest area. I also wanted a sequin trim added to the dress. Kim was able to insert the trim under my arms to give me an extra inch up top, which made a huge difference!!' The length was perfect and she delivered it when promised. Kim's alterations is amazing. I was leaving to Africa for a wedding and had to alter an indian outfit last minute (it was not an easy alteration). She worked extra hours to get it done over the weekend as she had other last minute wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She made great suggestions on having a zipper added to make it easier, and more. She came in on a sunday to get it to me! Living in midtown, there are many options available, but this is by far the best. I will always use them moving forward. read more

I gave her 2 pair of shoes. Actually both of them were in good condition and both had little rip on the heels. I have never seen such shameless, sloppy, cheap and horrible job ever in my life! I thought I had already seen the worst ( The Russian Guy, located in Ansley Mall) This is worst of worst! I wish I could be able to upload the pictures of my destroyed shoes here. Sloppy job on the first pair but still in the wearable condition. However my other pair of shoes were absolutely destroyed! I've never seen the shoe repairer in my life but looks like he wanted to do harm to my poor shoes. First of all; Asian Lady (the owner) never mentions there is someone else repairs the shoes, she only does alterations. But when she takes the shoes in she acts like she is the one who repairs. So you explained to her what needs to be done. Mine was a simple case, "fix the ripped heal". She said OK and also eagerly suggested to change to whole bottom as if it was necessary. Stupid me gave the OK for it. About a week later my BF picked them up and when I saw them I almost cried! Because I did not know I had an enemy who works at an effing shoe repair store. I'm not kidding!!! They took of the original bottom of the shoes and loosely glued a super cheap plastic bottom and they literally cut some part of the heels (looked like the knife was too sharp and too big and took an accidental slice out of the heel) The same super cheap plastic material they covered all over the shoes were already peeling off at the sides of the shoes leaving white color under its black color. I stormed back to the shop furious, asking her how dare she could ruined in good condition shoes and turned them into unwearable! Her respond was unbelievable; "they weren't good quality shoes" she said.... Ummm...WTF??...I told her she should never lie to anyone to make couple of more bucks. Should never lie about a job that she can't fix. On the top of all; I never wanted to change the whole bottom of the shoes at the first place. I just trusted her....Here comes the worst part; She took the pair back. She said that she will have them mended and won't charge me for them....Another week later, got the shoes back...Saw black finger prints on the originally grey color...When I put them on, It didn't take more than couple of feet walking across the room to see both of them broke in a half and the whole bottoms came off!...Telling no more!!! read more
