I've been using Vinings Alterations for 26 years. I took in a new men's sports coat to have the sleeves shortened and picked it up today. $240 to shorten two sleeves. I told them no thank you and left the jacket behind. Not going back, obviously. read more

Chi Does always done amazingly great work! She took my 10-year-old bathing suit and replace the elastic and mended some holes and made them look like new! I love this bathing suit and Many other Alterations refuse to replace the elastic and adjusted it for my re-designed to make it more modest :-) LOL!. She's always been reasonably priced especially for that area that her store is in it's a very high priced area! I will always take my alterations to Chi and feel very happy that I don't have to look Anywhere else because there is no better seamstress than her! read more

I have spent a lot of money in that shop.I have had jeans hemmed and costumes altered.I went in to have a pair of shorts cut shorter not even hemmed and they wanted $15.And when I called later to complain, she hung up on me.I have been going there for years.I will not be back. read more

Don't leave your clothing here without first getting a price for the work. I have brought multiple pairs of pants, jeans and skirts here to be hemmed and the prices never seemed out of the ordinary. Silly me, i brought in a top to be taken in and a dress to be taken in, but didn't ask for the price in advance. When I picked up my clothes today I was presented with a price tag that was equal to work I've had done on intricate gowns. I was floored and later called the shop to ask why I was charged so much and if they would adjust the price. I was firmly told "no". Today's lesson: Don't leave Vinings Alterations without getting a price first. I haven't even tried on my clothes since leaving but I hope to goodness there is 24k gold thread holding those seams together! read more

Find another place for your alterations. If I could at all give this place no stars, I would. I've been coming here since I moved to the area five years ago. Prices have in the last year became unreasonably high and change based on the owner's mood. Four weeks ago a service that cost me $24.70 now this week cost more. The workmanship was good so I decided to stick with them for a service I needed done last week. I dropped off a dress for hemming and was quoted a price of $46.50. I receive a call yesterday--5 days later--that prior to working on the dress they'd like for me to know it will cost 30 dollars more. They have no respect for their word ( I still have the receipt with the prices quoted) nor do they have respect for their customer's time seeing as how I now have less time to find someone else to do the job. I picked up my dress and will no longer ever again step foot in that establishment. read more

Made a hole in the front of my dress (still new with tags) that definitely was not there previously and tried to convince me that I brought it in that way. Said that they had noticed the hole prior to doing work, but did not call to ask if I would like to proceed. I have brought in several other items previously (with various results). I totally recommend this place for men's alterations only. EXPENSIVE, probably the most expensive alteration place I've ever been to, but MY GOD do you get what you pay for. We take all my boyfriends suits here to get them fitted European style and they have REALLY worked some miracles. For example we took a classic cut suit here which we only paid $150 for at Sears because my boyfriend was in a wedding that required that suit. He took the suit to Vinings Alterations and paid $125 to have the suit totally recut into a European suit because he knew that would be the only way he would ever wear it again. The work they did on my clothes were not as good, that is why I only recommend them for men's clothing. I took some pants of mine here and had them taken down a size and that didn't work out so great. I ended up throwing the pants away because they were just too tight after the alterations. I took another pair of pants there and they didn't look that good after the alterations either. They give a discount if you pay with cash. The owners are very nice. read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed for my sister's wedding and had of course procrastinated since I didn't know where to take it. I turned to yelp and found Vinings Alterations. They were able to hem my dress in three days and the quality was good. At $55 the price was higher than what I would have preferred to pay for a dress I am only going to wear once, but there were several layers to hem so at least I knew there was some work involved. This place nails it every time. It's tucked in the back of Vinings Jubilee. Up the ramp near Franchesca's. I've been using them for over 15 years. As a youngster they hemmed my uniform skirts (longer in the back to accommodate the rump) and now they handle my adult clothes. They have rebuilt dresses, hemmed wideleg pants while maintaining the silhouette. The price has gone up over the years, but the quality is worth it and there is a 5% discount if you use cash. read more

They have a lifetime customer in me because they a) took my garment an hour before closing b) did invisible work by altering my blazer sleeves at the shoulder c) had very reasonable pricing. Vinings Alterations is tucked back into a corner of the Vinings Jubilee shopping center, which would have gone unnoticed on my part if a friend hadn't recommended them to me. Over the past several years, I have taken many pairs of pants to be hemmed and have always been pleased with the service. Great altering skills - I brought in a cape-like garment from Guatemala and altered it to a beautiful blouse. The only reason why I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars was because of the high price. I'm sure for the other things it isn't as expensive but for this particular project it was a tad bit pricey. Overall though I'm happy with their services. read more

I had a hem job a bit bone on the nose but 'as things go'- appropriately waisted. The beezers were wide and tried and the tailor was a bit too thin for my liking. As his milky fists were pummeling the garment I had the fear of another cold iron pressing...how many times, I wondered, must he measure my inseam as a steam whistle sharpley intruded onto the ghastley scene.The tailor quickly withdrew and sketched .Equating shapes, he sliced paper and made a form board of my protruding abdomen, i didnt like the formidible glee in which he took, upon his task.The results were fantastsic! As a result I have the finest seer-sucker; round robbin; knicker bockers, money can buy and nobody can say here or 'near' of the the finest tailorings, or ask why? read more

Way too expensive for the quality of work! They have made mistakes and then expect you to pay for them. Very rude attitude to customer - they don't care at all about customer service. Have been quoted a price for work and then charged much more. Regretfully I used them only because they were a little closer to my home . If you are interested in quality work and value I would suggest Kam's Alterations on Northside Pkwy in the Houston's shopping Center. Great prices and very pleasant to work with. have never had a problem there. They appreciate your business and Vinings Alteraions could care less! read more

Avoid getting ripped off! Ask for the price BEFORE leaving the store. They will do whatever they can to add to the cost of the alteration. If you do not want your fabric cut (in case you gain back those 5-10 pounds) you MUST tell them in advance. Otherwise the garment is ruined for any future changes. If you simply want a straight edge sewn, without taking the seams apart, forget it! They say they "have a reputation to uphold." Whatever happened to giving the customer what THEY want? You'll get what they want to give you and like it.... I mean pay for it. I took in 15 items to have 'tacked up" temporarily... just in case i gained weight back... and my money was refused. They will not do any work that might be re-altered in the future. They refused about $150 dollars worth of work because I didnt want my garments/seams taken apart before alterations... after I'd spent 30 minutes trying everything on and getting it pinned. read more
