I didn't go and visit the house, I didn't take the tours, I was about to base it on how it didn't personally fit my needs. I would have wanted to camp there and realize it wasn't for me. Now for the positive, it's a beautiful place and it has great historic value. I loved the store. The young person behind the counter was so nice and helpful. We bought a gallon of maple syrup and a smaller one for our camper. It was on sale for 10% discount. The greatest thing though is that they sell fresh meat from the farm. They have a cool place for the kids on the other side of the store. The cute parrot pictured was in the lobby.

Overall, a really nice place to explore for a bit.

The welcome center seemed brand new and was really well done, with a small museum, plus access to the campground and tons of cabins available to rent. The hiking here is incredible. We did the Hemlock Gorge Trail, and it was just the right level of challenge while still being super enjoyable. The scenery was beautiful the entire way. I also highly recommend checking out the Little and Big Lyons waterfalls. It made for a great loop trail and was definitely a highlight. The park itself is very well maintained. We visited right after some heavy winds, so there were quite a few downed trees, but maintenance was already out there actively clearing and fixing things, which was impressive to see. Overall, such a beautiful park and a trip full of unforgettable memories.

Last year, I took the kids to ride at the Clear Fork ATV park. It was a good experience. We had a…read moregood lunch at the onsite restaurant before paying the fee ($20 pp, regardless of age) to ride the property. There were not many people there, but I don't think the defunct-ski-resort-turned-ATV-park had been open for very long. The lodge/Bar/Restaurant building was clean and air conditioned with decent restroom facilities. Sunday was the fourth time that I've ridden the Clear Fork Adventure Park in the past two years. Unfortunately, the park was in the worst shape ever. The restaurant is permanently closed. They used to mow all of the ski hills and the land surrounding the adult and kids' dirt tracks. The kids track was so overgrown, I had trouble finding it. Almost all of the grass on the property was 2-4 feet tall. I encountered many thorny vines growing across the poorly-marked trails (dark-red spray-painted dots on trees mean wrong-way; dark-green spray-painted dots mean right-way). I used to like to ride this place on the weekend for safety reasons (rather than face the high-traffic trails at Wayne on weekends). It was a nice place to take the kids, and it's only an hour away from home. Unfortunately, it is not going to survive by charging riders $20 per day and failing to perform minimal maintenance on the property. The hours of operation are pretty strange as well: Wed - Sun, noon - 7 PM. We were told the resort has been sold two or three times, and it is currently owned by an investment group in Utah that owns 27 other resorts (this is the only one that is an ATV park).

I am posting this review as a parent so that other families can ask informed questions before…read moresending their children to Camp Mohaven. My daughter worked at the camp during the summer of 2026. During that time, I received reports that rodents were being trapped day after day in camp living areas and that more than twenty rodents had reportedly been captured over a period of days. Based on descriptions I received, I believe that many of the rodents appeared to be deer mice. I was concerned enough about the infestation that I personally paid for rodent traps to be purchased and delivered from a local Walmart to assist with the problem. Among the reports that particularly concerned me was an allegation that a counselor awoke during the night to find a mouse on their body while sleeping. I was also informed that rodents were being repeatedly trapped in cabins and residential facilities used by campers and staff. These reports suggest a problem extending beyond the occasional mouse that might be expected in a rural environment. My concern is not that wildlife exists in the woods. Campers expect to encounter nature. My concern is the possibility of ongoing rodent activity in places where children and staff sleep, store belongings, and spend substantial amounts of time. I am also concerned about the potential impact on sanitation and food safety if rodents are present in or near occupied facilities. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises avoiding exposure to rodents and their urine and feces. Rodent infestations can be associated with diseases such as leptospirosis, salmonellosis, and, in rare cases, hantavirus exposure linked to deer mice. Rodents can also carry ticks that may contribute to the spread of illnesses such as Lyme disease. I encourage parents to ask Pastor Joe Ottinger and camp leadership specific questions: * How many rodents have been trapped in camp buildings during the past 30 days? * In which cabins, staff housing units, or dining facilities have rodents been found? * Have any campers or staff reported rodents in sleeping quarters, and what actions were taken? * Have rodent droppings, urine, or nests been found in occupied buildings? * Has any food been discarded due to actual or suspected rodent contamination? * Has Knox Public Health been notified or conducted any recent inspection related to the reported rodent activity? * What specific steps have been taken to prevent rodents from entering cabins and other occupied facilities? Parents deserve clear answers so they can make informed decisions about their children's health and safety. Every family can decide for itself what level of risk it is comfortable accepting for its child. Given the rodent activity at Camp Mohaven and the need for ongoing trapping efforts, I believe parents should be provided with complete information about the conditions at camp and the steps being taken to address them. Transparency allows families to make informed decisions based on their own expectations regarding health and safety. When hundreds of children are attending camp throughout the summer, parents deserve clear communication about any significant health and safety concerns.

Having recently relocated to the big city of Wooster, OH from the small town of Charlotte, NC I was a bit worried that there wouldn't be any comparable trails close by. Ohio's reputation had preceded it in my mind as a mostly flat, cornfield state. This park left me pleasantly surprised. Primary activities here would include hiking, trail running and walking. There are over 10 miles of unique trails, including almost 1 mile of paved, ADA accessible trails. There are three separate entrances: Education Area, Main and Kenwood all located along Silver Road. The park snakes around and behind several pieces of private property which, who knows, could end up being part of the park some day. There are elevations ranging some one to two hundred feet on single stretches of trail. You can easily climb 1,000 ft on a 5-6 mile run or hike here. Be prepared for rocks, roots, mud, and stream crossings. In winter, you can especially expect the mud and occasional ice and snow buildup. Several areas have low boardwalks and wooden split trunks for extra traction but many of the stream crossings will find you scrambling on large rocks and possibly with wet feet. It all makes for a fantastic outdoor experience and it's totally free of charge. I'm psyched to call this park my new running home and to be able to get out here on a weekly basis with the local group!
