Only $1 to ride! Whenever we are in the area we always make a quick stop at the carousel. My kids love to ride it. Tickets are only $1 and can be leased when purchased in bulk. Usually after two rides the kids are happy and ready to go. It is great that it is enclosed and heated so it can be enjoyed all year. They also have a lot of special events here. We were in Mansfield to meet a friend from Northern Ohio and had planned on visiting the Richland Carousel Park after lunch. Sadly, the Carousel is closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and, of course, we were there on a Wednesday. Despite the Carousel itself being closed, we were able to peer through the windows and get a glimspe of the carousel. We were also able to enjoy the picnic tables in carousel park. So, getting inside to see the carousel still remains to be "checked out" my list of Ohio attractions. read more

Simple fun for the whole family in the middle of downtown Mansfield! If you have kids and you're in Mansfield, you have to make a stop at Richland Carousel Park and take a ride on the merry-go-round. It's a vintage carousel that's inexpensive: about a buck a ride, or less if you buy multiple rides. My kids rode the carousel at least five times each, so for us, it was worth it to get tickets for more than one ride. There's also a gift shop where you can find snacks and toys and things, or pick up a copy of the free magazine about carousels that the park produces. The carousel is outdoors, but it's covered by a big open-air shelter, so you can ride even when it's raining. There are benches all around the carousel, so you can watch your kids ride. When we were there, we also saw a birthday party happening, so apparently they do birthday parties here, too. My child enjoyed every moment and that made it a five-star review. I was getting dizzy and he kept wanting to go again and again. It was free this past weekend for the grand opening, which was very generous. The carousel is beautiful. The animals are very detailed with beautiful, bright, cheerful paint jobs. This carousel moves pretty fast! And the length of the ride is quite long and satisfying for everyone. I would love to bring my son back here again. Even when they *are* charging for rides, it's only one dollar. Not bad at all. read more

I had never been to Mansfield, and I found a fun and attractive downtown. Walking around I saw signs calling this downtown area the Carousel District. And there is a really nice indoor carousel! The building has large glass doors that open so that groups of people can walk in and ride. The carousel is beautiful. There is also a gift shop and some concessions. I could not find a sign telling the history of the carousel. read more

I gotta say, if you have small kids (or are a big kid yourself) this is a great place to stop and enjoy. This indoor carousel is such a great idea! Paying homage to a century old pastime, this carousel doesn't disappoint. This all wood, hand carved wonder is definitely something you should see if you are close to Mansfield or you are passing through. There are 30 horses and 22 menagerie figures; including 4 bears, 4 ostriches, 4 cats, 4 rabbits, a goat, giraffe, lion, tiger, zebra and a mythical hippocampus. Not to mention, this place is VERY affordable. 1 ride is $1.00, 6 rides are $5.00, 50 rides are $35.00. You cannot shake a stick at prices like that. I love the fact this is inside too. Bucket list item for soooo long. I finally made it here. What an adorable and nostalgic little surprise. Located right in the midst of downtown Mansfield is this gorgeous carousel full of rabbits, pandas, bears, lions and horses. All beautifully crafted and painted. It's like a mini circus visit. You can buy one ride or many or just sit and watch the kids, (of all ages!), ride. There is a concession area as well as a small gift shop. We bought locally made sodas and Carmel Corn to enjoy while we sat and watched the little ones be mesmerized by this masterpiece. Music and even a brass ring; if you are at the ring when the ride stops...free ride! Enclosed by glass garage style doors that can open and make it seem like an open air attraction. Mansfield holds many events here with various food and festivals offered throughout the year. read more

Me and my family will never be back to this carousel after how I was treated by the old man running the carousel. He was so rude to me and my two children, and when I complained, all I got was smirks and sarcastic comments. After speaking to several other families, we've also had runnings with the old man there that runs the carousel. None of us will be back there ever again. The old man that works the carousel shouldn't be anywhere around children with his attitude. read more

The family oriented facility is open 7 days a week And can be easily recognized by either the two gilded horses which stand guard near the building entry , or the root -a -toot -toot calliope music that encompasses Main Street during hours of operation . My daughters favorite was the tiger even though she was disappointed it didn't go up or down (it's a outside animal). The worker told her it wasn't going to but I don't think she understood. Ha! I am such a big kid... My boyfriend and I went to Crestline for an event and we passed through Mansfield on the way. I knew the carousel was there so I sweet talked him into going with me... ok actually I threw a fit like a child saying that I wanted to go nooowwwww!!!! He's so patient and tolerant. :) We walked in, and I was whisked away to simpler times. They have a neat gift shop and rides are only $1 per person or $5 for 6 rides! After you purchase your ticket you get to go to the animal of your choice. They all had on masks for Halloween, and I picked a rabbit with some super long ears. Boyfriend hopped on the animal next to mine and I laughed like a giddy five year old as the organ came to life and my rabbit hopped up and down to the music. This place is such a neat place for both children and adults...errr big kids trapped in grown up bodies... The man running the carousel was incredibly friendly and he even gave us a free ride because nobody else was there!! If you are driving through town, go check it out. There is a big parking lot across the street, an amazing art store called Element of Art, where you can purchase pieces done by local artists with disabilities... incredible. Be sure to eat at the cute little Coney Island next door before you leave. Awesome little day trip that I'd do over and over again!!! read more
