Campground Very nice campground with large spaces. Our family had a great time. Highlights include: Pool Tubing in the River Bike riding around the park Camp store with ice cream Hiking paths The pool had a lifeguard which was great since it was often busy. The camp store is open late as well. Very close to town.

This park has so many trails to choose from, spectacular views, steep hills and my legs are burning every time I hike in this park!

I love Ohio State Parks and Mohican State Park is the one that I've visited most recently. We had been in the Mansfield/Bellville area and decided to detour to Mohican State Park on our way back to Columbus. On this particular visit, we stopped at the covered bridge and enjoyed the fall foliage along the stream running under the bridge. Being a weekday in late October, the park wasn't crowded and was quite peaceful. You gotta love the Ohio State Parks.

This is a review of the North Rim Trail out and the Bike Trail back. The North Rim Trail is out and back but the route I took was the North Rim trail out and then took the Bike Trail north and then followed it back to where I started. I hiked this trail at the beginning of the fall. The following are notes I made about the trail route as I hiked it. Some parts were rocky but mostly it was flat. Areas of lush greenery. Very shaded. Beautiful fall colors Mile markers along the way I started off around 8:15 in the morning and walked at a leisurely pace. By 9 o'clock I was probably passed by 10 mountain bikers. Tip: walk clockwise because the bikers go counterclockwise. Walking at a leisurely pace and stopping to take pictures took me maybe 2 1/2 hours Poor phone satellite reception Somewhat steep at times. Trail somewhat discernible. Much leaves on the trail hiding the route but the white markers on the trees indicate the route. Somewhat steep along the ridge line. No Wi-Fi at times so you may want want to download the map. Map trails along the way marking your location From U to V pretty steep hike and it seems to level out. Steep incline and decline at times Easily marked trails at intersections The above is all the north rim Trail from W to the U Intersections are somewhat discernible but not very. There is a short portion of the trail that is dark even in the day time and somewhat had a secluded feeling to it. If you are alone and prone to feeling scared I would go on the route. The mountain bike trail is easily discernible Several packs of runners are on the trail

I used to come here when I was a kid to canoe with my cousins. We were looking for an outdoor place to meet my husband's parents halfway between Columbus and Cleveland and this seemed like a good place. The first weekend we were there, it was sunny and packed full of people. The second weekend it was cloudy and looked like it was going to rain. There were still a decent number of people, but it wasn't nearly as crowded. For hiking, we parked by the covered bridge. There's more parking by the campgrounds when it's crowded. The covered bridge by the river is gorgeous. We did the Lyons Falls Trail combined with the Pleasant Hill Trail which I think was about a 2.5 mile loop. We saw two falls--Big Lyons Falls and Little Lyons Falls. Neither had much water, but they were still pretty. We also saw the Pleasant Hill Dam which had good views. This is a decent place to come hiking, but I think canoeing or tubing down the river is a more popular activity.

Absolutely one of my favorite places. The park is well taken care of and maintained. There are so many different trails to explore along with a camping area as well. So peaceful and the best place to go if you're looking for a variety of hikes!

If you truly love nature you will find beauty everywhere. This park is a trove of grandeur! One visit will never be enough. Gorgeous overlooks, towering forestry, sparkling waters. Small tidbit---- all the facilities are impeccable (very relieving literally)

Red line = VERY LOUD FREEWAY Yellow = campsites that sound like your tent is on the freeway. Literally half the sites are garbage.
    Joanna M.

Review of campground only: IT IS SO LOUD. The campground is immediately next to a major highway. I picked a non-electric, tent-only spot and had to carry everything in just to realize the "remote" spot I'd picked was as if I'd set up a tent in the grass divider of the freeway. I will never go back. It was beautiful but we spent the entire night listening to the sounds of motorcycles and loud trucks on the interstate. Absolutely garbage. We packed up and left after one night. Never again.

    Covered bridge

We enjoyed our time at Mohican State Park. We camped for two nights, took a canoe ride one morning, and hiked around 9 miles between the two days we were there. I recommend hiking the covered bridge trail. Campgrounds were very clean, including the shower areas. Campground had a nice little river running through it that you can walk or float around in.

We did the 7 mile mohican river float, loved it. Just make sure to get down to the end on time so you don't miss the bus back to parking.

What the sites lacked in width, they made up for in length. There was plenty of room for our tents and vehicles. They had a DJ Saturday night that was pretty good. A lot of people out dancing and having a good time. With our large group, we couldn't fit on the first bus for canoe drop off. So we had to wait about an hour to board to get shuttled to our drop off but that was fine. I definitely suggest making reservations if you plan on going to down the river. Overall it was pretty relaxed, clean, and our entire group had a great time. The prices were amazing too. We will be coming back next summer! (picture is the view from our campsite)

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We love to try different places and decided to try this campground out early…read moreMay. We have been to many campgrounds in and out of state and this was by far the worst experience. We booked along the river despite the reviews of being able to get up the hill if it rains. When we checked in, I voiced my concern about the full rainy weekend we had ahead of us and camping down the hill. She stated..."You should be fine". She should have never let ANYONE proceed down the hill and should have offered another campsite at the top. We proceeded down the hill only to sink in the yard and our 2500 in 4 Low, could not get our ToyHauler out of the mud...twice. It took a large bobcat to help give us enough boost to get out of the hole we sunk into. Lesson Learned. DO NOT CAMP HERE IF IT RAINS. Let me give you our review other than being stuck within the first 5 minutes of getting to our site. Once able to get the Hell out of this campground, we did. No refund and hopefully they use our money and our friends money to get some gravel for their roads and campsites. We had 5 campers with our group and thank god we stopped 3 of them from even making the drive to this campground, and stopped the ones that showed up right behind us, from bringing their camper down the hill where they would have been stuck with us. 1. Almost all of the sites are grass, not gravel. 2. The hill to get to the river sites (200s) washes away when it rains, despite their crew that "fixes" it when it rains. On the way down the hill, the road was so washed out, I thought for sure we were going to lose our camper over the edge. 3. Most all of the roads back to the campground and down the hill are wide enough to get ONE camper. God help if another vehicle is coming the opposite direction. 4. The mosquito population was HORRIBLE. While standing outside talking with our friends that came down the hill to help us get out of the muddy mess we found ourselves in, 100s swarmed and bit us. There is not enough mosquito spray to keep you from getting carried away. 5. The outhouses were overrun with bugs and mosquitos that it was difficult to even use them. They would fly in your face and up your nose. 6. If you camp at the bottom, the sites are very large but bring extra long plug and water hose as you also share with your neighbor.

Great for group and family camping!…read more We usually do a big family camping trip. Since not all family members have campers it can be difficult to find a campground to accommodate. They have a large camping area for groups with electric and water that you can rv or tent camp. Plus lots of different sizes cabins a short walk away. You can also rent canoes for the river right from their location and they transport you up the river. Since they canoe a different section it is usually less crowded. You just have to be careful bc parts of the campground are hilly and can be tricky pulling your camper around.
