My biggest complaint is their snowmaking and grooming, which pales in comparison to their neighbors at snowtrails. Even with the addition of a massive fleet of TechnoAlpin fan guns this year, there was still sparse coverage on 2 of their main hills (off the double chair) after plenty of cold temp days. The groupon deals, and the lack of the crowds right now are both reasons why I would give them 4 stars. The staff was also generally happy, seemed like a "family run" kind of place. The potential lies in the terrain. They have a good glade run cut, and a natural snow trail that runs along a narrow ridge that is fun. If they cut more trails into the trees they would have a lot of variety fast. Watch out for icy sidewalks and parking lots for now.

Great Potential! This place will be a great little Ohio Ski Resort. Keep in mind, we dont have…read moreMountains here , we have hills. New equipment is great but the food is horrible and only one lift open on Christmas break. Under new ownership and breaking ground for a ton of timeshares to be built in the next year I could only expect for this place to give you something fun to do in the middle of what the heck is there to do in Ohio! However, this is a great place to learn and practice. Keep an eye on Groupon to see about deals with this place and it may be worth the ride for you.

She told me about the area of the Honey Comb Rooms, the restaurant etc. We were out at Mt. Hope and coming back from the ride we saw the sign and had to go see the place. It was snowing so we felt we were in a picturesque snow globe. We drove to the area of the Honey Comb rooms and it look so cool. We stopped by the Inn and spoke to this gracious young lady at the restaurant. She said it was open to the public as well. We also spoke to the person at the front desk and picked up pamphlets on what you can do in the area. The rooms looked pricey on the website, I'm not sure if it's a place I would stay. Maybe for a celebration of some sort. It's close to many different Amish Places.

Wow! What a wonderful surprise in a gorgeous forested area on a private understated property…read more Birds, trees, and accommodations built into their natural surroundings and under beautiful full grown trees. So much has already been said, but this is a natural respite from the world with all of the creature comforts. To anyone saying the property is somewhat outdated, I disagree and fully appreciated features like carpet in the honeycomb suites and in the dining areas. It keeps noise down from fellow diners and guests staying in rooms nearby. When can you ever say this in modern stark industrial hotels? This made the experience so cozy. And the place is clean!! It looks and smells fresh. The honeycomb suites are constructed from stone and wood, and it's so refreshing. The food is delicious and well-appointed on the restaurant menus - both brunch and apps and dinners. They change the menus frequently based on what's in season, as a natural property like this should be. Service! Also "outdated" in that it was actually great! Where can you receive personable service anymore? The front desk, hostesses, serving attendants, communication prior to check in, you name it. We were first timers but met many guests who have been returning for decades. We would count ourselves lucky to be able to do the same. Great experience. My only gripe, and it's a legit one, and it can be avoided: room service. It should not be served in plastic in a bag like carry out, at a romantic resort and at this price point. We opted for brunch in our room one morning, and were disappointed to find a bag of food on plastic. No. Beware of this and go the fine dining room to avoid this. I have never ordered room service anywhere in the world and had it delivered in this manner to a $500 per night room. This did not take away from the rest of our experience though, but diners should be warned.

The lodge itself is super cute with a big cozy fireplace, tons of seating areas, board games you can borrow, and a cocktail bar. There's also a nice gift shop with merch and local items which was fun to browse. There is a pool and a sauna for members and lodge guests. There is also an outdoor pool that wasn't open yet. The indoor pool was pretty warm and not too busy, though I did go in March, end of off-season. Restaurant: The restaurant was a highlight. They had very clear vegetarian and gluten free labels which I really appreciated. The views from the dining area are beautiful and the staff were wonderful. I had a super fresh salad with fruit and gluten free toast for lunch, then a gluten free veggie pizza for dinner. The pizza was especially delicious and staff was incredibly nice. Room: The room was the one miss in an otherwise great stay. It was pretty clean overall and we had a wonderful balcony view, but it could definitely use a deeper clean, especially the sink and bathtub. The shower was also disappointing. The water pressure was barely more than a trickle and it ran cold. That said, the room was very affordable, so it still felt worth it, just not quite on the same level as everything else.

The trail behind the building lead us first to the koi pond. It was stocked with beautiful fish and food for them was available to purchase. There was a little waterfall and then we came upon a childrens village that was absolutely adorable. Having just rained, there were no children playing in the village so being two adults with questionable maturity, we had the most fun exploring the miniature buildings. After exploring the outside, we did indeed go swimming. Our family had our 96 year old Dad's Celebration of Life at the Wild Waves compound. We discovered…read morethe property in January while it was under several feet of snow, and closed. We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. A fire pit and a pile of wood was even available for our use, along with plenty of lawn/beach chairs. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. If/when we ever come back this way- we will call Patti. For the location, beach, and local family ownership- I can't imagine more bang for the buck.
