Walking into the building to check in, we were first greeted by two, what I would consider as "locals", sitting on a bench. As we walked by one of them asked, "Hey ladies, are you going swimming tonight?" I don't consider myself uptight but I was put off by it. Inside, the check in was polite and quick. Our room was clean and the view from our balcony was incredible. Very picturesque and serene. After having some cocktails in our room, we decided to explore the grounds. The trail behind the building lead us first to the koi pond. It was stocked with beautiful fish and food for them was available to purchase. There was a little waterfall and then we came upon a childrens village that was absolutely adorable. Having just rained, there were no children playing in the village so being two adults with questionable maturity, we had the most fun exploring the miniature buildings. After exploring the outside, we did indeed go swimming. The pool area was saturated with the smell of chlorine and the jacuzzi was extra hot and crowded but we had a nice time relaxing and making new friends. It was a good one night experience. read more

While planning a ladies wine trip we decided to stay here for a night and did not regret a minute! We arrived and checked in quickly. The room was clean and a great size which included a patio! The beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. The next morning the breakfast that was provided was delicious with options like cinnamon rolls, fruit, waffles and biscuits and gravy. We then walked around the grounds and found lovely trails, a fun children's village and ponds where you can feed fish. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing stay. read more

We had such an amazing stay at the Berlin Resort! Our kiddo loved the amenities- everything from the koi ponds and feeding the fish, to the kids town, the movie theater that's included with your stay, and the pool/gym. While the beds were on the harder side for our liking, we truly enjoyed ourselves. The breakfast was good, hot, and plentiful. A coffee machine available 24/7 in the lobby. Hubby & I came here for a relaxing weekend for him & a crafting retreat for me. The room was very nice & spacious and the giant cookie they gave each of us upon check-in was a delicious treat. The bed was a bit hard. The air-conditioner blew cold air directly on our bed so it was a bit chilly, even with the comforter provided. Adjusting the temperature only made it too warm in the room. Loved the balcony & relaxing on the glider. The complimentary breakfast was good, especially the crispy bacon. Enjoyed the hot shower with the shampoo, conditioner & shower gel provided. Have always had a great experience here until tonight's visit. I'm thinking they switched ownership or something. Things started at check-in. They didn't have anyone at the front desk, they just have your room card out on a rack. And they don't give out their signature cookies anymore btw. Speaking of things not being included, there was no shampoo or body wash in the shower. Also, we needed a roll-away bed for our kid and those apparently aren't covered in the $200 you're already paying for the room. They cost $20 extra. When I asked the lady at the front desk if they had any she acted like it was going to be a big deal that she was about to have to go check if they had any beds. We were here on a Wednesday night so they weren't even very busy, but maybe this is why they weren't busy. Like I said, we've always loved this place and have always had good experiences but maybe it's going downhill. Just a warning to others. read more

I booked this resort through a Groupon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were fine but I like a little more variety in the softness of the pillows. The rooms have a refrigerator but no microwave or coffee maker. There is coffee and other beverages available 24 hours a day in the lobby however. The free breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast buffet. There were pre-made omelettes, ham, a waffle maker (although the waffles I thought were a little rubbery), a few bagels and a toaster, oatmeal and other cereals. I was surprised with this being Amish country that there weren't more pastries or should I say they weren't any pastries!! There was 1 flavor of yogurt, only one type of milk (no low fat) and a few bananas. The swimming pool was the perfect temperature and the hot tub was very comfortable. Another unusual thing was that the pool towels are kept in your hotel room and then you bring them back to your hotel room when you're done. Although this was not a problem and probably keeps the towel mess to a minimum All in all I would say that I enjoyed my stay and would come here again. read more

I had the opportunity to stay at the resort during the same weekend of 5/2/21 and I was a part of the group the Chris gave a low review score. We apologized for the noise for the night of prayer and worship we had. We were not aware there were rooms and others above us. As soon as we found out we tapered down the noise. From our group stand point we again apologize for any inconvenience but please don't let that take away fromi the amazing beauty of the staff and the resort. I live in Cali and never been to Ohio and I have to admit the beauty of this resort and the staff. just goes beyond words... women from all over the world searching for something were changed women walked away ready for next chapter. 4years my wife and I have been coming to this resort for anniversaries etc. Anything that deserves celebration we celebrated here. Well this year was the worst and the last time. We were told that the resort was under New Management and the changes were certainly seen and felt. Name one place where you are greeted with a warm oatmeal cookie to match the warm ambiance of the place? When we arrived there was no greeting and no warm cookie. It may seem small to you if you've never experienced it. But we have. Moving on the Continental breakfast used to be filled with options. Now it's powdered eggs dry cereal cold potatoes and aged bananas. The coup de grace wasn't the diet in the jacuzzi nozzles Nooooo but the cold racial undertones of the New staff. This is the second time I've stayed at Berlin Resort. My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary, and it was wonderful, with the exception of the comfort of the mattress. I want to give 5 stars, but I can't because of the uncomfortable bed. We had a king suite. The bed was way too firm. I know hotels tend to have more of a firm bed, but this was probably the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in. It made it so hard to get a decent nights sleep and we both woke up with horrible back pain. We wanted to go for a swim in the pool and jacuzzi, however there was a gentleman (maybe 40's or 50's) swimming in his boxer briefs and that was a major turn off. The breakfast served was nice and they kept everything well stocked. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, the resort is very clean. The rooms were very clean and fresh. I would like to say we would stay again but unfortunately we may look elsewhere due to the uncomfortable mattresses. read more

Stayed here specifically because it was featured as kid friendly. We know a family who stayed in 2019 and had a great time, but we soon discovered this business has gone down hill. When we arrived our keys were at the front desk in an envelope with our name on it. Front desk staff said hi, but didn't even offer directions to our room. After finding our room (4 guest, room with 2 queen beds) we discovered that the room didn't have a dresser and only had 2 small cushioned chairs for seating. The TV wouldn't work, so we had to call the front desk (apparently the cable box was turned off) and they fixed it. The first thing we did was walk down to see the ponds (we saw trash floating in 1 of the ponds). There is a play village that was a big selling point for us, but we were disappointed to find that the village is literally falling apart. The art store had a chalk board and dry erase board but no drawing utensils, the dance studio had windows falling out, the theater had a tv which was supposed to play a movie, but didn't work. We even discovered the church has a wasp nest in it. The lighting in the play houses were broken and overall was a huge disappointment. We also noticed that the gas fire pits in the patio were not lit the first night, so the second night we called the front desk to ask if they could be lit. We were told that we could come get the lighter but if we turned them on then we would be responsible for turning them off at the end of the night. The pool has paint chipping and my child actually had a sharp piece of paint cut their toe while playing in the pool. The only reason I gave any stars is because the small theater was nice and my kids loved watching a movie each evening. They also had a good breakfast that was included. The business needs to make big upgrades to its property and train the staff on proper customer service skills. There are many other hotels in Berlin and I would not stay here again. read more

Missy Mullane the event coordinator made us feel like ROCK STARS! She made a difficult job organizing feel like I did nothing and she did all the work! She even had names on our doors. First off, I hate to give this place anything other than the 5 star that I have expected of this place. I have been coming to this place for about 5 years and have been here over 20 times. I thought this was going to be my next "Place to escape".....NOPE! After this stay, I honestly don't know if I will ever return. My wife and I were looking for a relaxing trip to relieve some stress. We live in the city and love to get peace and quite that we have come to enjoy at the Berlin Resort. We have always loved it because we can stay in and enjoy a quite evening and go out and enjoy the Amish sights and sounds. This time we were forced to leave our hotel for peace and quite! We wish that we would have been advised that there was a mags conference going on on the first floor of the building where our suite was. Nope....instead we had to listen to people talking morning to night on loud microphones that at sometimes rattle the walls. We could not sleep in, relax during the day or even get to sleep at a normal time. My wife had to end up sleeping in our van because The Berlin Resort thought it was a good idea to allow this conference to go on well past midnight on Saturday. There were multiple of us that were staying on the suites out in the lobby wondering what was going on at midnight. Also, there was no one to contact at the office, the phone just rang endlessly. Just imagine trying to relax at a resort in a suite none the less and having to listen to a blaring microphone all day and night! The other main issue we encountered was a strong pot odor coming from another suite. After trying to call for a while, I had to walk over to alert the front desk. They, for some reason we're not answering the phone because it seemed that they only had one employee running around everywhere. So, I do not blame the employee on this issue although it would have been nice to have been able to get ahold of someone before the pot smell came into our room. It lingered in our room for the entire night. Sooo...this was one of our worst stays at any hotel in a long time. It's horrible because we loved this place and liked to get away there anytime we could. From not being able to relax in peace and quite because there was an extremely loud conference going on to having the smell of marijuana linger in our room for the night, it was the opposite of what we were hoping for. read more

There's so many accommodation choices in Amish Country but I was looking for a little more updated room with hotel amenities and came across this resort on Expedia. Upon arrival, we walked through a maze of hallways to find the elevator to the 3rd floor. From the front desk area which shared the breakfast room to the hallways, it seems outdated and a little confusing at first. However, once we opened the door to our suite, we were pleasantly surprised how roomy and attractive our suite was. There was a giant shower and jetted tub for two, separate from the sink and toilet of the bathroom, which was nice. We had a king size bed that was very high off the ground, but comfy. There was a double reclining rocking chair in the room as well. We did have a mini refrigerator but no coffee maker or microwave. Because it was raining outside and we had been driving and shopping all day, we decided to check out the indoor pool for a bit before dinner. The pool area was nice. It included a hot tub, sauna and steam room. The pool was nice and relaxing. We noticed on the way back to our room that they had a theater in the hotel and just started a movie. The outside grounds were very nice but the rain kept us from enjoying them. Breakfast was mediocre, as most hotel continental breakfasts are. The one thing I really didn't like is that I had to take the maze through the hotel to get coffee in the morning. There should be coffeemakers in each room for convenience. In summary, I would definitely stay here again. It was a relaxing, quiet getaway for two! Tip: I highly recommend driving about 7 minutes to Millersburg Brewing for beer and sandwiches for lunch or dinner- it was good all around & close to the hotel! Had a fantastic stay at the Berlin Resort early January. The pool was smaller than I expected but was still a nice amenity. The hot tub, sauna & steam room were amazing! It was so nice to get out of the sauna & take a look outside at all the snow. The spa was closed on the day we checked in (New Years day) but the woman was not very friendly when I called & seemed annoyed when I attempted to ask about the hours on the next day so I just decided to not do a massage while in town. We walked around the hotel grounds, the little town is adorable & is great for kids. There are little storefronts that you can actually go into. The pond & scenery behind the hotel is beautiful- I would definitely recommend getting a room with a view of the back where the pond & trees are. Our room was a standard king suite & our view was the parking lot (no thanks) but I should've researched beforehand so that was my fault. I believe the rooms with a patio/balcony are the rooms with the nice view. Unfortunately the hotel would not turn on the fire pits because it was cold & lightly snowing but they looked so cool! I wish we could've turned them on, it was such a nice set up on the patio under the string lights. LOVED the little theater- it is like an actual theater with several rows. We stopped at the dollar store beforehand & took some snacks with us & enjoyed a movie. The hotel is in a perfect location, close to everything. We will be back if we take a trip back to Amish Country. read more

This hotel is clean, comfortable and beautiful. The breakfast is good with about five choices, nothing extravagant, but it will get you through the day. The staff are friendly and there when you need them. It was strange not to have a closet, cabinet or table, besides the desk. If you want more furniture you've got to pay for the suites. They have a nice salt water pool. There are exercise classes to get involved in each day. I believe the community uses this place as their gym, it's pretty big and can get busy at times. Even though they promote the "save the earth" practices, you can get extra towels and things if you'd like. They have trails around the property, a lake with coy fish, a gazebo, two little waterfalls, fire pits at night, golf that costs extra, a movie theatre, hot tubs and cute little houses for the kids to play in. You can even borrow bias games from the little shop inside. I'm glad we paid a little extra for the balcony. We absolutely loved the area. There's tons of shopping around especially if you like antiques. The only bad comments I have are: the balcony light cannot be turned off manually do it attracts bugs at night. That music that constantly plays over the loudspeakers is kind of annoying. The traffic coming past the hotel is pretty loud and constant which I wasn't expecting in Amish town. We've been to this area several times over the years but have always camped. First time staying at the resort. I have no reason not to give this place 4 stars. I found the place to be clean, unique and the staff friendly and professional. This would be a great place to stay with children. The play, wooden stores behind the hotel are fabulous! A great playground and the stores----what a great way to play and use your imagination. One of our favorite parts about the hotel stay was the koi pond. Bring quarters. The pool was nice and clean; LOVE the movie theater (but they need to serve free popcorn!!) This place has so much to offer for families in a great, tourist area. A family could spend a whole day of vacation just at the hotel alone. I've heard you can sometimes find this resort on Groupon so keep that in mind. I would 100% come back. read more

This is our second stay here - very much like the resort in general! However, disappointed this time by the serious disregard for COVID safety precautions. There were signs indicating masks required (this is the law). However fewer than 25% of staff members and guests were wearing masks and there was no effort that I witnessed to enforce wearing of masks in public areas. The breakfast area, pool area, and movie theater were all full beyond what seemed to be a safe capacity. Needless to say after seeing that we stayed away from those places, and then for the most part we went straight from our room to outside via the side door. We will not be returning here during the pandemic. read more

Nice hotel for the Groupon price that we paid but I wouldn't pay rack rate to stay here. Rooms and amenities were clean and well maintained but very oddly laid out. Breakfast was adequate but on par (maybe a little below) with a 2 star chain hotel. Staff was not rude but not overly friendly. Biggest issues that you'd never even think about.. 1) The PILLOWS. The have these tiny, half sized pillows and we were told no normal sized pillows available at the hotel. 2) There is nowhere to hang anything. Coats, towels, pool towels, etc. Not one hook. There's a table in the room but no desk chair and there was one arm chair in the corner. 3) TV placement. The TV was almost in the corner of the room, not lined up with the bed at all and didn't swivel. read more

Safety does not appear to be a major concern at Berlin Resort. I walked in to see two employees sitting maskless on a bench in the lobby. One would later be behind the front desk for check in. This was not an enjoyable experience. The bathroom was the biggest problem area. The water from the sink and the bathtub continued to come out dark brown which made this impossible to use the shower or sink. The bathmat that was provided in the bathtub was very disgusting. The toilet paper roll in the bathroom had not even been changed from the previous guests. I understand that things happen however when explaining this to the people at the front desk when They asked how our stay was, they did not offer anything to compensate for our unenjoyable experience nor did they even ask how they could make it better for us, as first time guests. read more

We stayed there May 18-29, 2018 coming to town for a chocolate tour. Due to a problem with the credit card company travel unit, our reservation wasn't there. After driving five hours, I was dismayed. Chase at the front desk was kind and patient even called another hotel to see if our reservation was there. They were very honest to tell me that the only room left was underneath the kitchen area and next to the mechanical room ; hence, it is dubbed the noisy room. With fans on, the noise was blocked. The only negative about this room was that their was not a recliner or place to sit other than the beds. The shower was very nice with a rain nozzle. This is a beautiful property with a very quaint village for children to play in, a well maintained putting green, lovely salt water pool with a patio outside. The property was very clean. They have a no smoking and no noise after 11 pm. read more

This is our favorite place to stay when traveling to Holmes County. The rooms are very nice and the price is excellent. They have nice touches like warm cookies at check-in. The property has so much to do for kids. Generally after 6:00 pm there is not much to do in the area so having activities at the hotel is great. The grounds offers gazebos, walking trails, and coy ponds. There are fire pits that you can use. We love the playhouse village for kids and playground is awesome. Inside they have a theater room and decent pool area. Breakfast bar in the morning gives some variety if your not planning on eating elsewhere. Best of all your in one of the best locations to access all of the area restaurants and shops. Highly recommend the Berlin Resort. read more

This is a very nice hotel in this area. The furnishings are really beautiful, I like the mix of modern with traditional Amish wood finishings. The amenities are a big plus, our room had a rain shower head, jacuzzi tub, king bed with crisp white linens, fireplace, 2 leather recliners and lighted wood ceiling. The property is very pretty as well with a walking path, putting green, Children's Village and pretty landscaping. Husband and I also had a couples massage while we were here and they did a great job, decent price too. We didn't eat the continental breakfast but looked like there were several options if that's your thing. Would definitely stay here again. My husband and I booked a massage at the spa at Berlin Resort. Unsure of where to sign in for our massage, we went to the front desk of the hotel. When we said we were looking for the spa for our hotel, Heather pointed us to the fitness center. When we got to the fitness center, no one was at the front desk. We walked around for 15 minutes looking for someone until we finally called the hotel front desk. On the phone, Heather told us that we should have come to the hotel front desk to begin with (which we did) and that someone should be meeting us shortly. Confused, we stayed put in the fitness center. When no one arrived. We had to have the girl at the chiropractor center point us to the right massage room. After our LOVELY massage, the masseuses told us to pay for the massage at the front desk. When we arrived and Heather recognized who we were, she immediately proceeded to tell my husband that he was rude to her when they spoke on the phone. Taken aback by her comment, we asked for the manager of the hotel. When we got the manager on the phone and explained our story of the confusion and Heather, Heather began snorting and laughing at us, butting in that she was never rude nor unhelpful, as if the manager could hear her. This confusion apparently stemmed from us not being guests at the hotel nor club members of the spa (though that doesn't mean one can't purchase a massage experience at this spa). Needless to say, Heather the front desk girl totally ruined any chance of my husband ever staying at or recommending the Berlin Hotel. read more

Amazing views and great features. We stayed in the executive suite and it was wonderful. The jacuzzi tub is huge and so relaxing. Bed was comfortable and the reclining seats were electric and very comfortable. We only had one issue and that was our fireplace did not work but they accommodated us by giving us a discount on the room.
