Just a strange unwelcoming place. Walked in to see three guys standing at the check out area just staring at me. No welcome in or hello so ok that's fine. Well I think eventually as I walk towards them and not just looking around ? Idk the vibe was just way way off. I said I recently started and wanted to look at something. Guy just starts walking doesn't even say follow me or yea I got that. What he does tell me is people just mostly buy things online. I said thanks and walked out. I wanted to help a local store and not some online big box store but....thats exactly what I went with. I assumed the archery community was welcoming and cool, this place unfortunately was the complete opposite. I'll be checking out other local spots but in reality I'll just be buying more online. They were great, the guy talked to my husband and I about the ages of our bows and how they dont make replacement limbs any more for them. The great thing was that we only needed to lower the draw pull on both our bows and we were good to go. The next day my husband had to go back to get the speed checked so that the guy could make a tape for his special site. Same great helpful service. Thank you guys! read more

Bottom line - will never recommend. Classic case of new to archery/taken advantage of. Was told that a Phase 4 flagship bow fits my 27.5" draw best at 31 inches... had to argue to get correct draw length. Was told paper tuning is not a common process/ not necessary until I'm much further down the road/experienced. Was told my bow was ready to go when cams weren't timed (1/2 inch off) Bought 350 spine arrows which were given to me with 550 inserts. I gave this place as many chances as I could. with multiple misquotes of timeframes, I exclusively started working with the owner which turned out to be a mistake. Ultimately this was a fast tracked learning experience and not the good kind. STEER CLEAR - take the extra 20 mins drive to a shop that is friendly and will take care of you such as Archery Headquarters or even as far as Ross Outdoors. I brought in my Hoyt and purchased new strings and had timber mesa install them with no issues. I Shot a couple hundred arrows through it without any issue. They had told me to bring it back so they could do a tune up on it. At the same time I dropped off my back up (Prime) to get strings put on that one as well. After I picked up my Hoyt the first Arrow I shot through it one of the strings popped off the bottom cams. I've shot thousands of arrows through my Hoyt without any issues. This definitely had me frustrated. I brought it back the next day they asked if I dry fired it and told me I was the reason why it happened. They said they could reattach the string and that everything looked good. I took their word and brought it back home and once again first arrow I shot bottom string flew off of it again. So I took it back in someone else looked at it and noticed a bolt that was loose on the bottom cam. Why was this not caught on the tune up? They tightened it and at this point I had noticed some splinters on the limbs that I brought up to them and they said that I don't need to worry about them and the splinters are very minor. At this point I'm very concerned that this bow is a liability. They assured me that it's totally fine. So I shot a few arrows after this conversation with out issues and took it out on my deer hunt and got camp all set up took a practice shot to make sure everything is good. And go figure the string pops off again. Needless to say this ruined my hunt. I was very upset and packed up camp. When I got back into town I called to tell them what happened and to cancel the strings on my Prime because of my issue with the Hoyt. They told me they couldn't and they would knock off some of the labor. I really didn't want them to touch that Bow anymore. The way they handled this issue was very disappointing. I won't use that Hoyt anymore and I absolutely loved that Bow. Very disappointed and poor customer service. They had multiple chances to try and make this right. read more

Every year my husband and I engage in a new activity to celebrate our anniversary. Well for our 23 year we decided to learn archery. Lol, he already had experience so more or less for me to actually try it. Ladies this is so fun and actually relaxing. I called about having purchased an into package on Groupon as a gift in February 2021. The guy who answered, I think his name was Junior, said "oh well if you bought in after Dec 2020 we aren't honoring the deal so get your money back" This is the end of April 2021. No offer to work with us or encourage us to come in, just kind of "screw you" attitude. What a crappy salesman and I have very disappointed family members for whom the gift was intended. I have taken two previous archery classes through BOW Becoming an Outdoor Woman through the AZ Game & Fish Department that were fun and informative with far better equipment and excellent, caring instructors. Maybe my expectations for Timber Mesa were set by a higher bar than normal. I purchased an Archery Class for 2 people (including equipment rental) through Groupon. Making the reservation was painless; but they said they were booked out about 6 weeks for lack of instructors working on a daily basis. When it came time for our class, I found it hard to believe they were booked up as there was no one waiting before us and no one waiting after us and no one using the facility at the time we were there. The gentleman at the front desk gave us our equipment (cheapest bows) and told us how to hold the bow and arrow and then said we were free to shoot for an hour or more--alone. When asked, he was happy to move our targets back farther. So, we did NOT get an awesome instructor. My guess is that he wasn't enthused about two older ladies wasting his time. I am sure they are excellent at things other than satisfying Groupon purchasers. read more

So Timber Mesa archery not sure why they get 5 stars I went there a while back and I'm still pissed !!! Do not get caught up on their ratings!!! I went there and this kid help me out I got my bow restrung in black and red!! So I wanted my fletchings to match they said no problem the bow fully tuned up I wanted new Target tips all so!! The kid was awesome!! They said 7 to 14 days and I'm fine with that never heard nothing back kept calling and it was done!! I was so excited to get my bow back!! So I went there and had to deal with Junior!! which I was at work and stopped after work!! first of all the fletchings we're not even close to what they said but I swallowed my pride!! I didn't I say anything then he asked me where my release was which he has tons of them hanging on the Shelf then he started acting like a jerk!! He said how are we supposed to check the peep sight well I just got off work and never got a call back.. I don't just carry my release in my pocket!! and he has tons of them on Shelf !! Which you would think he would be like oh I have some right here not at all !! So I paid my bill took my bow to my car and I pulled out the arrow to look at them!! because I seen the fletchings were the wrong color!! and thier were no tips at all that I paid for so I went back in!! And I told him there was no tips on the arrows !! And the bigger jerk came out!!! He said I don't even know what your arrows look like !! So I went back to my car got the arrow came back in he looked at it he said these. Should fit and gave them to me with an attitude!! And some of the fletchings came off because they weren't done properly!!! I'm not a rich man ! I just want what I paid for and maybe some customer service !! Just a little customer service!! First time shooting here in 2018, wish I could give the guy working that day 5 stars. Came in this past weekend and was immediately turned off by the service. 2 guys standing at the front, barely greeted me and when I inquired about shooting time was told they were busy all day (currently 9:30am). One would think he'd tell me which day is best to come in but nope. I'm not big on writing negative rules for minuscule reasons. It was really the dismissive attitude of the staff that lets me know they do not care about customer satisfaction and if that's the case, why even have a business? I am writing this review not with intentions of receiving anything or "getting back" at the owners because to be honest I don't think they care. I'm hoping this review will keep people from wasting their time driving here and going to support a different local business. read more

First, my fiance and I took a one-on-one lesson with Tony. He was awesome, patient with us, kept things simple, and really made us feel comfortable behind a bow. In fact, a few days later I returned to Timber Mesa and purchased both a recurve and compound. When I returned, Preston helped me. Just like Tony, Preston was very patient, honest and didn't try to upsell, kept things simple, and overall made me feel comfortable. He helped me pick out my compound, arrows for it and arrows for the recurve, along with a release that was to my liking. He also double checked my draw length and assured me that we can get my sights adjusted, so long as the hunting season crowd isn't making the place too busy, when I come back to officially pick it up -- Timber Mesa is making sure that the bow is adjusted properly to my specifications and without defect before officially selling it to me, which I greatly appreciate. read more

I am blown away by the lack of customer service I received. I purchased a Groupon and when I called to schedule, was informed the only times they honor it is on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3-6:00. When I told them this wasn't disclosed, the man said "I'm not the one who writes groupons" so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager called me back and immediately was short and rude and when I told him I wasn't happy about the scheduling not being disclosed, he said "that's fine, I dont have to disclose anything". Bought a bow for what I thought was a good deal online and took it in here to have it set up. Junior and Tyler helped pick out all my accessories and get the bow all set up. They were very helpful and easy to talk too. They also had the same bow I bought online for a little bit more money but with all the services they include with buying a new bow it would have been cheaper to buy from them so this is where I'll be buying my bows from now on. read more

So I decided to check it out in person after an email I sent asking for information was never responded to. Granted the selection was good (even had some left handed items on hand on the shelf). Nothing but the best and friendliest service. Long story but I had some issues with another shop not fully checking things over a few times they worked on my bow. A friend of mine told me to go check out timber Mesa and see Kevin. I took my bow in and he fully checked it over and spent a great amount of time making sure the timing and specs were perfect. Andrew also helped me another time and did a great job. These guys know their stuff AND are very friendly and don't make you feel like you don't know anything like some other shops I've been in to. Went to purchase a 2019 model bow, was told it should be in store in 4 weeks. I received no updates, I called to get information at the 6 week mark. Found out that the bow I ordered was no longer made so i put in an order for a 2020 model bow. I was told it would should be in the store in 2 weeks. I received no updates and I called at the 3 week mark. The bow finally came in the following week. I waited about 9-10 weeks for a bow. Went to get my bow tuned after breaking it in and the only thing that was checked was cam timing. Rest timing and paper tuning was not done which is included with bow purchase. Any time I came into the shop I felt like an inconvenience and I no efforts were made to make up the lousy service that was provided to me. The older gentleman, Jr., I believe was who I conducted business with, I didn't get friendly customer service from him ever. The other employees seem much happier and willing to give great customer service. read more
