It took 3-4 months from start of project to completion in October 2019. Then less than 6 months later, in March 2020, we were hit again by water damages from the main pipes of our condo. Working with insurance companies for water mitigation is extremely stressful and you can see below the photos of what my apartment looked like post-demolition by the water mitigation help. (They even cracked our backsplash while demo-ing, which you can see in the finished photo--we opted out of replacing it for now) I'm so glad Dwight accepted our project because he made the restoration project a breeze. Dwight is a laidback person, which makes him very easy to talk to when it comes to addressing any comments or concerns about the project. Dwight and his team completed it in one month over several days a week. They worked diligently and quickly, and we appreciate the work they've put into piecing our home back together. When surprise would spring up and issues with my condo personnel, Dwight was incredibly flexible. When I had an issue with supplies or needed materials picked up because they didn't deliver to my door, Dwight never hesitated to offer his help there. He lives all the way in Wahiawa, works in Diamond Head and still managed to fix time to renovate for us in Downtown Honolulu. Mahalo Dwight for your hard work and dedication! We feel at ease in our renewed home and trust to recommend you to others and back to this home in the future. ...also did I mention that his rates are fantastic? Unbeatable in the Honolulu metro area. Support local. This local did an exceptional job.

The project did not go smoothly because of the disinterest by Ho in addressing issues that were done wrong or not at all. I had to hire outside professionals such as plumber, electrician and tile company to redo his work. He Kept charging me more than what was in contract and charged me for work that was not done by him. He and his vendors also never showed up on scheduled appointments making me loose salary from my employment. When I contacted him about things that were not done correctly he just ghosted me. Never heard from him again. Not a reputable business.

Our primary goal was to convert the bathtub to a walk-in shower for safety reasons since we're a retired couple. But they worked with us to help us realize a total overhaul of the entire bathroom and we're so happy with how everything turned out! Though the project only involved a single room, it required the services of numerous trades--demo, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, cabinetry, countertops, and tiling. Kimo had the different workers coming sequentially with seamless coordination and they all performed their roles with the highest standards of professionalism. We did encounter a couple of unexpected challenges along the way but with good communication we were able to get them resolved efficiently without incurring any up-charges. It was great to work with such a competent team to produce an end product that was exactly what we wanted!

Eventually, however, the owner Vernon Lowry contacted me, not resolve the complaint, but to throw a tantrum that his feelings got hurt. Clearly there is a lack of professionalism and this company does not care about customer satisfaction. The lack of quality in the workmanship of the property is a testament that it was all about cutting corners. So if you're looking for a builder, please go elsewhere. A review a long time coming. I have worked with YB Builders on two major home renovations. First,…read moreabout 4 years ago, YB helped me with a massive kitchen redesign. They gutted the entire kitchen, used our space in a very clever way (incorporating the under-stair area for a very fun oven nook!). Yvette was very responsive, always on point, and stood by her work. When we had a major snag with a vent from our vent hood, she worked on that problem until it was solved, using a lot of extra materials and taking on a lot of extra expense just to get it correct. Our kitchen has held up really well- we love it. Another great thing to consider is the people that work for this company. YB's crew is amazing, and we love them all. I was so comfortable with them in the house all day long, and it was bittersweet when the project ended!! We ended up going back to YB for a major expansion to our house, which we called "Phase 2". This involved remodeling a half bath (including changing the plumbing), enclosing a lanai to make a full bath (which involved more plumbing, electrical, etc.) and building a huge lanai, and a lovely master bedroom. This was a huge project, involving diggers and cement layers and all sorts of subs. Yvette keeps all these moving parts working in tandem, and she does a great job. I can tell she's respected by all her subs and those who work for her. She puts her heart and soul in her work. You know when people joke about someone saying their biggest fault is their attention to detail and the fact that they can't rest until something is perfect? That's Yvette. She literally will wake up in the middle of the night worried about some aspect of the project and will not rest easy until it's perfect. I'm sorry I took so long to write this review, but I 100% recommend YB Builders.

I asked Yvette to take a look and she decided it would be too destructive to the cabinetry to remove the existing countertop. She determined that she could place the new granite one right on top and replumb the existing sink, which wasn't very old. It turned out beautifully. She also removed the popcorn ceiling, smoothed the textured walls and repainted. The 37 year old condo looks so fresh and modern! There was not a spec of paint on the floor or a drip on the walls. She did an excellent job keeping things cleaned up and keeping me informed. Her subs and crew are really, really good and she takes personal responsibility to get it right.
