He listened to our needs, wants and available budget. We decided on a "middle" option with full solid acrylic pan (since we did not want another broken prefab floor) and cultured marble walls. He referred us to Naka's Marble whose staff was very friendly and helpful in choosing marble type/color. They worked directly with Mason on our custom floor and walls. Mason kept in constant contact with us regarding his work schedule (and of his subs). He was accommodating, flexible and also good to thinking out of the box. I requested a custom shower niche, so he guided me in designing one which was also fabricated by Naka's Marble. Mason was very clear and upfront about his fees, and warned us way in advance that there would be some extra fees along the way due to things that come up with old houses (like rotted wood, plumbing fixes, etc). MK's prices were very competitive compared to other companies (we had also spoken to two other companies prior) but decided on MK after meeting with Mason. Every part of our renovation process went well. Mason has a wealth of knowledge and seems to have many strong contacts in the industry. He worked super hard to give us our dream bathroom; was patient with us as we were not always decisive at times; and constantly kept professional decorum with friendly local vibes. We are very satisfied with Mason and MK Builders and plan to hire them again for other upcoming home renovations.

They patched and painted from the inside and since they had their ladder out we went ahead and had them paint the whole living room, dining room, bathroom, and office. The whole process took about a week. We have high vaulted ceilings and a lot of square footage so I was really nervous about picking 5 colors with only a few days to decide. I went down to Sherwin myself because of the crunch time and met with Paka's associate at herwin and thank goodness, she was so helpful. I ended up picking 4 colors and making my own(you can do that) for the main fill color. At times I could see some things looked unfinished like the patch work and the edges but just be patient because they cleaned it all up really nice. I added a bunch of stuff last minute too, you know, like a small demo(I know, I'm terrible), and they still accommodated my needs and got it done quickly. As a realtor I'm very picky about recommending contractors but they did a great job for us personally aaaaand they're licensed, bonded, and insured but please verify for yourself. That crew did finally install my french doors, but after delays and more excuses than I care to note, I decided to cut them loose and find someone else to build my deck. I searched Yelp and found Kekoa Builders on Sunday, and based on all the positive Yelp reviews, I decided to call and leave a message, but Kekoa answered the phone AND he stopped by my home the same day to take a look at my project details - on a SUNDAY! It is now TUESDAY, 2 days later, and my beautiful Trex deck is finished. I already had all the materials so that was helpful for a quick build. Kekoa's communication was great and he and his crew showed up when promised and worked until the job was done. They were respectful of my property and the pricing was reasonable, especially given the high quality of this work. I am in the construction industry and let me tell you - these guys are the best! They worked together well as a team, you can tell they enjoy working together. They are onsite problem solvers. One example is that they had to carefully trim the Trex deck board due to wonky uneven dimensions where it meets the french doors threshold and they finished it off beautifully! And - did you notice my recessed umbrella holder in the photos? It is SO custom. They knocked this deck out in one day, cleaned up the site of debris and were so wonderful to work with. Secondly, this is considered a small job so making an appointment takes forever. Mike responded immediately. He came out when he was supposed to, and rewelded my hinges in no time. His fee was beyond reasonable. To top it off, he noted my gate swung and rubbed against the cement. No fault of his, but something I had a problem with for ten years. He came back two days later and grinded down my cement to allow better gate movement at no charge! Who does that? Well Mike does. Wow. Highly recommend.
