We were quoted 3-4 hours for our move, but it ended up taking over 7 hours total, including nearly 5 hours just to move out of our apartment. The movers worked extremely slowly -- sometimes carrying two cushions at a time -- and it was clear they get paid by the hour. After the truck was loaded, we agreed to meet at the new apartment. Just two minutes after I left, they texted to say they were going to lunch. When they finally arrived about an hour later, one of the movers, Alex, said, "I think you thought you were texting the office back at the old place, but you were actually texting me... is there a problem?" I had texted what I thought was the office about how slow they were going and how many smoke breaks they were taking. That made me wonder what they were doing for that hour with all our stuff. The smell of cigarettes was very strong throughout the move -- both at the old and new apartment -- and one of our dressers was damaged. When we brought these issues up at the end, Alex laughed, which felt incredibly unprofessional. To top it off, he did the payment math using two different apps and then had me type my credit card number into a random website, reassuring me with, "It's not a scam." That alone says a lot -- I ended up changing my card number afterward just in case. Overall, this was one of the most unprofessional experiences we've had. It really feels like Tim Movers quotes low to lock you in, then drags the move out to charge more. Between the slow pace, damage, smell, and sketchy payment process, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. UPDATE: He goes by Tim, but he actually has a real name, and he is currently being sued. We also found out that they broke one of my fragile decorating pieces, which I repeatedly told them to be careful with, and they disposed of it without my knowledge. I only realized this after unpacking and having the energy to decorate. When I demanded compensation for the damaged items, he said he would only pay if I took down my reviews. The worst and most traumatizing moving experience I've ever had was with Tim Movers. The movers were incredibly slow and inefficient. We had already packed 60-70% of our belongings from our 600 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment. All they had to do was handle the remaining 30% and wrap the furniture and other pieces. Instead, they packed my kitchen items to the brim, causing things to get squashed because they didn't bring enough boxes. They didn't wrap a lot of the items so a lot of my items got scratches and dirty rain water marks. They also failed to label any of the boxes, making the entire process even more inefficient. One of the guys had ended up wasting 1 hour of his time to purchase more boxes. The initial estimate was 3-8 hours based on the photos of my belongings that I had sent, which included packing and unpacking services. Since I was on maternity leave and had many delicate items, I packed as much as I could beforehand. We started at 9:30 AM and didn't finish moving until 7:40 PM--nearly 10 hours to move out of a 600 sq. ft. one-bedroom apartment with no stairs and working elevators. Unpacking never even happened. The unmarked boxes were completely scrambled, further slowing things down. At the start, the movers wasted time sipping coffee, chatting, and moving at a painfully slow pace. It was frustrating to watch. Whenever I voiced concerns about delicate items, they cut me off and repeatedly assured me that they handled all boxes with care and that they do this all the time as professionals. However, I saw them stacking heavy book-filled boxes on top of fragile ones that were clearly labeled "FRAGILE - Do not put anything on top." I caught them doing this multiple times, and when I pointed it out, they defensively insisted that they knew what they were doing. While they were packing our hanging clothes (I had already packed everything from the dressers myself), I was busy with something else so I couldn't see what they were doing. I had made sure they brought wardrobe boxes in advance, but they didn't bring enough. I was horrified to find out that they packed dusty stools against my delicate clothing in these wardrobe boxes to save box spaces --including my $2,000 Max Mara coat and silk/wool items. I couldn't believe that happened when I wasn't looking. I knew that I should have supervised them but with the time crunch I couldn't do that! Because it was raining, I repeatedly told them to wrap furniture and other pieces properly. They ignored this, leaving several items exposed to the rain, and now some of them are so dirty they're beyond recovery. One of the most frustrating moments was when they carelessly disassembled my Tizio lamp from Europe without asking me. They didn't even wrap it, and the mover took it apart into three pieces, losing a crucial rubber part that keeps it balanced. The plastic connector was also broken, making it unstable and precarious. They kept telling me to "leave it to them," but I couldn't relax because they were so slow and incompetent. Despite my constant efforts to guide them, my belongings still got damaged and mishandled. By 3 PM, they were still working in our tiny apartment, even though we had to be completely moved into our new place by 5 PM per building regulations. My husband and I had no choice but to start packing and moving things ourselves just to make the deadline. This was an absolutely traumatizing experience, especially since Im 36 weeks pregnant. We've moved frequently over the last decade, but this was by far the worst. I worked so hard throughout the move that I couldn't even walk to the bathroom that night--my body at 36 weeks pregnant simply couldn't handle it. To make things worse, when we addressed our concerns, the owner dismissed everything with "It is what it is" and "Bad things happen sometimes"--showing zero empathy. Would never recommend this company to anyone. I have a lot of videos and pictures I can share if anyone needs to see them. Update: They installed the vintage cabinet that I deeply care about, and I remember asking Tim, the owner, multiple times to ensure it was handled correctly without any damage. I only had 2 minor issues. The first is, and this happened another company on a previous move, the movers always just use your bathroom without asking. I'm not sure if this is a thing they do? The second is, I told the lady on the phone that I was on a strict budget, so I paid them the 3 hour standard even though it only took 2 hours, and I left them a small tip, which was what I could afford. Most things were packed up and I kept telling them to just get the items that were boxed up and the furniture but an anticipated 3-4 hour job turned into 8 hours. I understand I had a lot of items but it was a 3 man crew. I'm going to put it on the language barrier. I've done significantly much bigger moves that took the same amount of time so I didn't think it'd be that long with all my things. I was honestly a little skeptical due to how low the prices were and my initial phone call was a little off from a normal Americanized business, however, I decided to take a chance due to the rave reviews on Yelp. Before getting into the review, I'd like to note that if you are a very particular and picky person, you are better off paying double the price for another vendor and leaving Tim Movers alone. They are not perfect, but the service provided definitely exceed the prices charged. Keep that in mind. You will NOT find any movers like Tim Movers. They helped me with my move from Seattle to the bay. I wasn't sure if they would be able to help with this move but they literally drove to Seattle during peak winter (it was snowing / icy) and wrapped, disassembled and moved all of my items out of my 3 story town home in Seattle into my new studio loft space in the bay. They are kind and are definitely hard working immigrant owned business, the price and service will be unmatched. I am extremely happy with what I paid and what I received. Don't expect full white glove service given the price, however, they got the job done and efficiently and fast! I AM TIRED OF MOVING. That said, Tim Movers has helped me move 3 times in the Bay Area over the last 2 years, and they are my go-to guys for a local move. Workers have been courteous and on-time every single time, and every mover who shows up is engaged in the move. Typically two guys will be actively loading, while the 3rd guy is actively packing/wrapping items. Great system. We had 3 rooms worth of belongings packed up within about 2.5 hours, and unloaded in about 1.5-2 hours. I highly recommend getting the 3rd mover, unless you plan on being fully engaged during the move. If you're not fully engaged during the move, then you're just going to end up paying more because it takes longer to do a move with 2 guys vs 3 guys. Example: a 6.5 hour move with 2 guys @ $120/hr = $780. A 5 hour move with 3 guys @ $160/hr = $800. read more

The Good: Great communication for quoting processing and coordinating the move. The price is reasonable. The owner (or main person) is very responsive. The Bad: I was initially told if the movers arrive too late due to a long drive from San Francisco to San Diego, they'll unload the next morning. On the day of the move I was informed they'll arrive at midnight and start unloading for a few hours. I asked them to come the next morning instead as to not make too much noise in the apartment complex. They replied "No, we must unload now". I had no choice, so I said fine. They finished at 2AM and did the absolute worst job reassembling the furniture. See pictures of (1) Bed was wobbling because it wasn't even screwed in (2) 50" TV had 4 screws on the leg, but only 2 were tightened (3) 77" TV none of the screws were secured completely because they tried to tighten it while it was upright instead of laying the TV flat. (4) Broken standing bedroom lamp. The movers were nice, but had 0 skills or training on how to take furniture apart and put them back together. Please beware! read more
