This is the same exact sandwich I've gotten every time I've ever been here which is why I really haven't come back because there's not a lot of selection for me. The other reason is they got rid of the croissants on the menu LOL. The service was fast and friendly and there was about a medium sized crowd inside despite the parking lot being full. They have kind of a dark semi romantic atmosphere I guess they're going for. The chicken sandwich was nice and tender. I'm not a fan of the shoe string fries because they remind me of Steak and Shake and at this price point I think they should have some good fries here. They actually had a few craft beers on tap but I thought the cocktail prices were a little extreme at 15 plus. My girl got the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and the potatoes were ice cold so they lose a star for that. Other than that I have no complaints except that the pricing for lunch. $20 for a chicken sandwich is a bit much to me.

For the main course, I ordered one of the specials- scallops with rice sauteed with spinach. My friend had pork roast with carrots, which was a large portion - no complaints and she took home leftovers for another meal. I'll speak to my scallops... They were perfectly prepared, but there were only three scallops and a plentiful serving of rice and spinach. I love spinach and this side was very well seasoned. It didn't take long to eat the three scallops and the spinach pieces in the rice. I definitely enjoyed my meal, but wished for even one more scallop. Since my entree was a special that was verbally announced, I didn't know the price until I saw the bill. While it was delicious, I found the $41 charge a bit steep. The Standard is exceptional in almost every way- service was impeccable, amazing food, lovely ambiance- but be prepared for a pricey evening. We joined the waitlist at approximately 4:02 p.m. and arrived at the restaurant around 4:30 p.m. When we checked in, the original hostess acknowledged that the quoted wait time was around an hour and 25 minutes, but specifically told us that the restaurant was "moving much faster than expected" and that we would "be seated by 5:00 p.m. at the most." Based on that assurance, we stayed and waited patiently. At approximately 5:05 p.m., we checked again and were told it would be another 20 minutes. Then, at approximately 5:32 p.m., after already waiting well beyond the promised seating time, we checked yet again and were suddenly told the wait had increased to another 35 minutes. That is completely unacceptable. We had children with us. My wife was understandably upset, and we stood outside for well over an hour receiving inconsistent and misleading information the entire time. Had we been given honest expectations from the beginning, we could have made other arrangements instead of wasting our evening standing outside with our family. What is even more remarkable is that we finally received a text message at 6:22 p.m. telling us our table was ready. That was literally an hour and a half after the hostess assured us we would be seated by 5:00 p.m. upon our arrival. The issue is not simply that there was a wait -- restaurants get busy. The issue was the repeated inaccurate updates and assurances that turned out to be completely false. After all of this, we ultimately had no choice but to leave without ever being seated. This experience was extremely frustrating and left a very poor impression of your restaurant and its management of reservations and wait times. Because of this experience, we will not be returning to this location.

Interestingly, the hold up with the entrees was the 2nd French Dip. I would guess if the guy making the sandwiches saw 2 of the same thing on the same ticket, he'd make them both at the same time. That second sandwich took at least 15 minutes to get to the table. We're all being polite and waiting for his meal to deliver so we can all eat at the same time. Cold fish, anyone? And I'd still like to know where my horseradish went. Oh, parking in the lot to the left of the building is stupid expensive. Park in the garage across the street and save $20 bucks. All in all, our check came to about $100.00 for 3 of us. That's without the tip. My meal was a solid 2 to 3-star event but factoring in the others' opinions and negating the Bloody Mary incident and service, I'll give it 4 stars.
