I've been here before, a few years back and had a less than pleasant experience. I decided to try again. We walked in and were immediately greeted. The restaurant was clean and well organized. This time service was very good (well done, James)! Our server was sharp and very helpful, making frequent stops while we dined. I split the shareable BJ's Favorite shareable sized pizza and it was very good! We had some soft drinks and I also enjoyed a Lightswitch draft beer. It was excellent. Was in the Toledo area visiting family and decided to grab a bite to eat. I was surprised that on a Sunday afternoon it was not that busy, we were able to get a seat at the bar quickly. The restaurant is very spacious and clean. The bartender was very nice and helpful, I ordered a Sangria and he made it perfect. He gave my husband plenty of suggestions on beer. The ambiance at BJ's is upscale bar & grill, but on the casual side. It's located near Franklin Park Mall, so it probably attracts some shoppers. I was there with a group of people after seeing a movie at the mall. I had a chicken taco in pita bread. It was served with a tasty pico de gallo that was very fresh and delicious. There wasn't a lot of chicken, but what was there was good. Our server was very nice and efficient but it took a while for our food to come out. The person seated across from me received the wrong order and didn't receive the correct order until everyone else had finished their meals. She wasn't charged for the meal, fortunately, but it was a shame that she had to sit there while everyone else was eating. Overall, I would return and recommend BJ's. read more

Service is lacking. We came at 7pm on a Saturday (I understand it would be busier) We got seated after a 15-20 minute wait which was not bad! After being seated it took 10+ minutes for anyone to even come over and see us for the first time. We ordered drinks and our food at once. I mentioned to our server we wanted to over dessert and she said she would come back to get that order once our food was delivered. We waited 45 minutes for 2 meals- two tables next to us who had a different servers and ordered after us got their food and drinks before us. We got our food and everything came out as expected and was very yummy. However, we had finished our food before ever checked on again. We were out of drinks for the entirety of our meal. At that point another server came over to check on us, took our drink and dessert order and cleared our plates. Overall, food and patio were great but we waited way too long in my opinion for service and food. I have been here multiple times and have felt this way about the service over and over. Visited BJ's for a birthday. No complaints from anyone at the table! Fast and friendly service and delicious food. Inviting atmosphere. I tried everything on the table besides the double bone in pork chop (which was HUGE). However, it was tender yet cooked thoroughly. Both steaks were tender and flavorful. The salmon was fresh and as good as it looks in the picture!! The Jambalaya is very flavorful and spicy. Shrimp scampi, great sauce. I even started putting the sauce on my mashed potatoes and vegetables, lol! My tipsy snowman drink (amazing). I had two. I was SHOCKED at how busy this place was on a Tuesday. Not sure if it was because of their $5 Pizookies or the excessively large party that came in before us but we waited 30 minutes for a table. Not terrible especially during dinner time, that's to be expected. I guess that shows you that this place has good food though. Definitely get a reservation if you're going around 6pm. I hadn't been here in a while but I've always enjoyed the many options they have for everyone and every craving. The food never disappoints. The staff was very friendly and seemed to work well together seeing as it's such a huge place. After we got to our table the server was prompt and got us everything with great timing. I was VERY disappointed that the one item I came for (Tri-tip) was out of stock though, I came for my birthday and that was a huge disappointment. If you've ever had one thing in mind when going to a restaurant and then they don't have it... it's sad. Despite this everyone enjoyed their plates (I finished mine-the ribeye, veggies, and baked potato). There were a couple miscommunications but I couldn't be mad at the server (I wish i remembered his name) because it was packed and he did great otherwise. Friendly staff but we were seated and no one came to take our beverage order or greet us. The manager finally came by and took our drink order, and said she would send the server over. The problem at this restaurant is that there seemed to be enough staff...restaurant about 1/3 full, but we still couldn't get service throughout our meal. We ordered the wings as an appetizer and they never arrived. Server came by and said they no longer had the Asian chili seasoning. And we had to pick something else. When the wings finally came out, there was no dressing and we never saw our waitress to ask for any. We also never got any appetizer plates so that we could eat the wings. Service takes forever and they're not intuitive about you needing a plate or silverware or any of those things. As I said, the manager and servers were very nice. I just did not seem to move with any speed or efficiency. I personally thought the food was average, a little on the expensive side, which would normally be fine if it wasn't for the abysmal service. I don't recommend this place if you're somebody that wants a drink refill or a plate to eat off of. *** I'm updating this because BJ's did reach out to me promising to take care of the situation and even offering a gift card to take care of our next meal (something I did not ask for but did appreciate so that we could give them a try again). Unfortunately, and not surprisingly they never sent the gift card. And from what I can tell, no follow up so I will be changing it to one star. Master of nothing. BJs is a chain. The Texas and California locations are a little better. They have a large menu but nothing is consistently good. I just got some chips n queso this last time. Clumps of cheese like it wasn't cooked all the way. Got a California flatbread to go last month. Had to put it back in the oven at home. It was doughy. The service at the bar or at tables is good. Every time I have gone it's 3/4 empty unlike other locations which are packed from happy hour on. I really feel like they need to cut the menu in half and specialize in something instead of having a little bit of everything. If I'm in the neighborhood I would stop by for maybe an appetizer and a beer but that's about it. read more

Stopped in with my 6 year old son and the staff treated us like were the only 2 dining in the restaurant. Stephanie was extremely attentive. It's not that BJ's is bad, because categorically it is not. But it's also not good, at all. Full stop. Not good. Completely generic, the menu has the traditional American-chain "try to please everyone" approach, with pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, globally focused apps.... you name it, they have it, and all of it is average at best. None of the dishes shine from a flavor perspective, and everything is weirdly bland. That said, all items are technically prepared with textbook accuracy that makes you wonder what was lost in translation, but can likely be blamed on low quality, off season ingredients. With a staff that offer up welcoming smiles and eye contact that make you wonder if they know something you don't, you'll notice a dozen or more servers and staff swarming around the floor, as you find yourself curious where the heck your own server went. During a recent visit, we only saw ours twice, once to take our order and once when I waved her down with my credit card. Long story short, avoid if you're in the mood for good food and a memorable experience. read more

We have always enjoy dinning here so this was unexpected. Service was great as the restaurant is always clean. Orders were taken and delivered in a timely manner. My wife ordered the Jambalaya her favorite . I ordered their rib eye steak which was highly recommended. I ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. The problem was it had to be one of the worst cut of meat I've ever had. Nothing but gristle and the baked potato was cold. Something I never do I sent it back. My compliments to the restaurant is both the kitchen manager and the restaurant manager came over to apologize. However the second dinner was better as far as the baked potato was hot and the steak was better but I only ate half the steak. Same problem, it was grisly. Then our waitress had to adjust our bill because we were still being charged for two steak dinners. Our waitress was awesome and we will go back but I will never order a steak dinner again. My wife and I went out to eat at BJ's we looked at the menu and saw this beautiful looking ribeye steak. I asked the waitress if the steak you get looks like the one on the menu she said yes I just had one last night and it's very good. Well we got our steaks, medium rare, and we couldn't even cut them to see if they were cooked correctly. They were all grizzly and you couldn't even cut them with a knife. BJs Restaurant & Brewhouse is one my frequently visited spots. If you're looking for good quality food then BJ's is a great place to check out in the city of Toledo. I have tried a number of things on the menu, which have all been delicious. I normally get the steak and chicken with green beans and rice, or like today the turkey burger with fries and boneless wings with signature sauce. I love that you have the option to sit outside by the fire, at a table inside or even at the bar. Drinks are good as well and food is always fresh and accurate. I would definitely recommend stopping in and giving it a try. They also have amazing deserts!! read more

I don't know why this place gets a bad rap besides being a little pricey which it lost a star for. The healthy "enlightened" menu options are outstanding and fit in my eating plan. The lentil soup is so good I get some to go after my meal. The food is always hot and delicious, and we've had nothing but great service here. It's a regular stop for us now. read more

It's not a bad restaurant for being a chain. The menu is diverse. Anything from seafood, steaks, wings, pizza, Asian and almost anything else you could want. I had the Ahi Tuna salad and asked for no wanton crisp on it. Low and behold it had it in it, but it was covered in the bottom of the lettuce. Plus, it only have 4 pieces of the tuna on it. I figured for the price, there would have been a better portion then less than 2oz. My wife had some sort of chicken dish with rice on the bottom and she said that half the rice was crunchy. One of the people we were with got a mushroom burger and said it was really good. Two of the other people in our group got a make on chicken Parm with broccoli. They said the chicken was good, but I looked at the broccoli and could tell it was over cooked by a minute and a half. The waitress did a good job, nothing great, nothing bad and I would call it average service that you would expect. I will mention this though, it was COLD in there. I know it's winter, but holy cow was it cold. We all kept our coats on and the others in the restaurant had there coats on as well. Not sure if the heat was broken or what, but holy iceberg! Overall not bad and not great. I would only go back if someone asked or said that's where they were going. I think the menu is just way to big to make anything really good. I would narrow it down and concentrate on making those things above average. read more

It was a dreary gray day and we just wanted to try something new. First impressions: very nice ambiance, be warned it's typical Toledo bar set up, but nice , new and modern. Lots of screens, lots of sports. A very nice menu with lots of selections. Pastas, derp dish pizza( yum) , burgers, streaks and chicken. We ate off the lunch menu $12 specials, my wife had the mini deep dish pizza and tomato snd mozzarella salad. She said both were very good, the salad especially, but her pizza was good too but a little uneven with the toppings do one quarter of it was just dough. I had the chicken parm lunch size, and was impressed, smaller serving of well prepared pasta and smaller breast , both were tasty and well prepared, good flavor and texture, obviously freshly made. I would recommend BJ's 100% and look forward to trying for a full dinner very soon read more

The food is mixed. My chicken was delicious but next to no sauce on my sandwich. The fries were nothing to write home about. The coleslaw lacked any flavor. Came here with a friend while up visiting for the day. I had never heard of the restaurant although it appears to be a chain. It's a huge wide open dining space which is nicely decorated. We were seated promptly and the hostess was quick to try and accommodate my friend on crutches by offering her a choice in seating and making sure it would be easy for her to navigate. Our menus seemed to have just been wiped down as all of the pages were wet and there was an odd musty odor. The menu is vast!! Honestly there were too many options. I believe the menu held over 20 pages! We ordered and our waitress kept u updated on our arriving food. The steaks were good but I ordered a medium well done steak and got a medium. Wish they'd have you cut into the meat before leaving the table. The mashed potatoes were amazing!! So good. Dessert time came and we ordered the baked beignet. They send their orders to the kitchen with an iPad device so it's very quick. I asked about their famous pizookie and we then decided to order that. Ended up with 2 desserts. It was the highlight of the meal!! Our pizookie was delicious. Warm cookie with ice cream on top. A must try!! All in all a mostly good experience and I would try again. My apologies for the long review but please read to the end: I received a BJ's gift card for my birthday and decided to check out the reviews and the menu FIRST before finalizing my plans. Well unfortunately the reviews were discouraging with everything from the menu having too many options, the food being mediocre, slow service etc. however I saw multiple recommendations suggesting to request to sit in Stephanie's section. So I decided to give BJ's a try. The parking lot was packed when my husband and I arrived so we assumed we would have a long wait....we were wrong! We were greeted and seated right away. We didn't particularly care for the table location so we asked if we could sit in the bar area, the greeter obliged and immediately escorted us to another table. When our waitress came over to greet us guess who it was?? YESSS it was Stephanie!! I was so happy that we were in her section especially since I totally forgot to request it. Well let me tell you Ms. Stephanie is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! She is super friendly, professional, has a positive, upbeat attitude and is patient and very attentive. She made us feel right at home. The other surprising part is that our food came out within 15 minutes or less of placing our order. We ordered the Blackened Salmon Dinner and the Salmon Bowl...the food was fresh, and it not only looked good but it tasted DELISH oh and the margarita flight was tasty as well (can't believe I forgot to take pics). Stephanie suggested that we sign up for the BJ's app which we did and we were able to get the highly recommended Salted Caramel Pizookie for FREE. I love free!! So I am happy to report that our first visit to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Toledo was a wonderful experience. THANK YOU STEPHANIE, we appreciate the excellent service you provided.
