I hadn't visited it until last night. My first time I noticed it was getting a rental vehicle after a City of Toronto pickup truck rammed into the back of my Prius, and my vehicle needed a few days in the shop to get the truck and bumper repaired. I remember seeing folks entering and exiting this cafe to get their caffeine fix. I am not a regular coffee drinker. However, I felt like a baked good and decided to visit this location. Entering and existing this plaza requires some care. It's fairly tight when you turn into it and exit from it. This Timmy's does not have a drive-thru. There were plenty of parking spots at around 7 pm on a Wednesday evening. I backed into a spot and walked in. I loved the hockey stick design of the door handles. I feel like I need something similar for my home! I waited in line. There were two men in front of me. I couldn't tell which way the line was supposed to go. The man on the left got his order on the left. The man on the right ordered to the right. I got the nicest, enthusiastic woman behind the counter. She was wearing a smile cookie t-shirt, which looked great on her. I wanted a smile cookie. My first one during this campaign only had one eye. I wanted to see what a regular cookie would look like or if all smile cookies needed an eye patch. I scanned my QR code associated with my Timmy's points account. I then paid with a credit card. Done! Proceeds from smile cookie sales go to Markham-Stouffville Hospital. I appreciated it, as both my mom and I have received excellent care here. I got my cookie in a paper bag. I thanked this woman and wished her a great evening. She reciprocated. This store gets full marks for customer service. I dislike visiting my local one because customer service sucks. I like this one a lot better! My smile cookie had two eyes and a smile. Yay! It was yummy. It hit the spot. It satisfied my sweet tooth. I'm glad that I dropped by. I tend to order various iced teas and food, and prefer Starbucks. On the whole, the folks there seem to know what they are doing, unless they are brand new. That's understandable. If I do order coffee, it has to be heavily flavoured, to mask the coffee aftertaste. I go to Timmy's a handful of times a year. I tend to get food, soup, or steeped tea. Recently, I got word that the TimmyMe app has been discontinued. There was a procedure outlined in an e-mail on how to transfer your balance from your account on TimmyMe to the new Tim Hortons app. I do not go to Timmy's enough to figure out what my password is. Even after resetting it, the procedure failed bigtime. The easier way is to simply log on to the new app and add your Tim Card number there. Done! I figured out that I had $7.14. With my newfound balance that felt like I had won a scratch-and-win lottery ticket, I decided to use it. I visited this Timmy's, which is on my route from work. I have probably frequented this location more than any other in the GTA. The last time I was here was August 23, 2015. Facebook has a fun way of reminding me of my memories. My post that went with my pumpkin spice muffin pic then was as follows: I haven't been to a Timmy's in a while. I decided to break my streak. Me: Can I have a pumpkin spice muffin, please? Woman: We don't have that. Me: Seriously? I'm staring at it. Her sidekick comes over and tells the woman that they do sell these muffins. Perhaps I should start my streak again. Today, I restarted my streak. Instead of walking into the store, I went through the drive-thru. The parking lot isn't exactly roomy, so you need to take care pulling into the drive-thru. I ordered an apple fritter. "No drink?" the woman asked me over the speaker. "Nope, I'm good." I replied. I pulled up to the window and used my app. She pulled out the debit-credit device. After about five seconds, she realized that she needed her scanner. The good news is that her scanner worked and I got my apple fritter. She gave it to me and that was it. I guess that friendliness is lacking today. The apple fritter was okay for $1.25. I could barely find any apple bits. It was essentially sugary dough. In short, I go to Starbucks because I typically have friendlier folks. There seems to be something odd that happens when I come to this location. Today's experience was much better, but the pumpkin spice muffin incident is still fresh in my mind. P.S. The apple fritters at Starbucks may be way more expensive than what you'd pay at Timmy's. I did a search and found this one at Alton Towers Circle. It's in a plaza with Al Premium Food Mart anchoring it. You know what's crazy? There are at least three Tim Hortons locations near this one. Do we need so many?! On my Timmy's app, I spotted a grilled cheese melt going for $5. I've had it before and liked it. I needed a refresher, so I took advantage of the deal. My order consisted of these items: - Grilled cheese melt - Ten-pack of assorted Timbits I ordered at home and drove over to this cafe. I drove south along McCowan Road and made a right turn on Alton Towers Circle. I then made a couple of left turns to get to the drive-thru. The drive-thru has two lanes that converge. The right lane wasn't operational when I was there. I pulled up the speaker. I let the woman know that I had an order under my name. At first, it sounded like she couldn't find it. I rattled off the order number. She found it. She said that I could drive up to the second window. There was steady business at around 6:30 pm on a Wednesday evening. I will say that it took a while for the lineup at the drive-thru to move. I ended up putting my car in parked mode with one car ahead of me. I hit the drive-thru at 6:34 pm. I left at 6:46 pm. A twelve-minute wait isn't horrible. However, if you're hungry, it feels like an eternity! Despite the wait, I got the nicest woman at the window who greeted me by my first name. She said that she'd get my grilled cheese melt. She handed it over wrapped in paper. It was toasty warm and I could feel how crispy it was. I was excited! She let me know that she was getting my Timbits. I like getting the assorted and having flavours randomly decided by a complete stranger. I appreciated her communication style. I got my box of TImbits. I wished this woman a wonderful evening. I could tell that she appreciated it. It was nice to see her face light up. She reciprocated. I put my goodies in my insulated bag and headed home. I then had dinner. I love the grilled cheese melt so much. Maybe it's the bread that was toasted. It does have sesame seeds, which was different. I loved the melty cheese with the crisped-up bread. I welcomed the discount. The Timbits were yummy. I got four different flavours. My favourite these days is the one with lemon filling in it. So good! The only caution that I have coming here is the parking lot. It's not a grid, so expect weird angles with cars coming at you without a ton of warning. I liked visiting this Timmy's. I'd return again for more good eats and drinks. Just pack some patience with you. (240)
