They were that good and on our minds after our initial visit. Both times we visited the location was busy and we had to wait in a small line. Service is very efficient and they take care of you quickly once you're at the counter. All of the donuts we ordered were perfect. One of the kids got a limited edition burger donut with proceeds being donated to the local Ronald McDonald house. It was a very inventive donut with glazed donuts as the burger buns, half a chocolate glazed as the burger patty, and different creams making up the cheese and condiments. So unique and for a good cause! Indoor seating is available which we took advantage of, as we could not wait to enjoy our donuts. I wish we lived close by as we would be regulars. I feel the donuts are fairly priced for the quality. Expect to pay more than your local Dunkin or Tim Hortons, but you can also expect the quality is way better. Fresh homemade donuts can't be beat.

Paula's Donuts helped heal me after surgery - seriously. But first, a few words about the best…read moredonuts in the United States. I feel confident that statement is true. These are not featherweight, boring, drive thru chain donuts that never fail to disappoint. The box says they are "made with love" and while I certainly hope the bakers and makers are not oozing affection for the creations as they do their job (because that would get weird right?), the recipes and standards of ultra high quality that this unique WNY establishment has sure shows a respect and appreciation for their customers. The dough is light and never greasy tasting. The cream fillings are also fluffy and airy and melt in your mouth. Jellies are all top notch and let me be clear, the donuts are packed full with whatever is inside. Or on top. The headlights are incredible. Peanut butter offerings (several to choose from) are stellar. I'm not sure if the chocolate icing is a ganache but it seems much more like a ganache than the lousy, dried out icing you might find at places we need not mention. Staff are always courteous, polite and fast. I think each donut is going for about $2.30 but well worth it for the size and quality. A box of 3 is heavy to hold. You get a lot of donut for your buck. I've been on a Paula's kick for a couple months, stopping in when appropriate for my donut desires but trying to be mindful of my waistline. I like to sit down and really enjoy every bite. These are not ordinary donuts, they are an experience to savor. But how do Paula's donuts help one recover from surgery? It's about what you might do with them. My friend picked me up and brought me home after the hospital and slyly produced a bag of donuts for me, which I sat down and ate the minute I walked in the door. The unexpected gesture of something I've been enjoying a lot lately certainly took my mind off any discomfort. Nice friend, right? Part of recovery is having supportive friends and family and I'm glad I've got that. And I'm glad I also got a bag of donuts to make a "rough day" a lot better. So, Paula's people - I haven't tried them all yet so I guess I'm going to have to return. (Image is different donuts from a different day.)

I remember biting into a crispy on the outside but also fluffy Apple cider donut which really hit the spot. I stopped by at Duke's Donuts today at the NT Farmer's Market. For $10, you get 13 donuts which is a steal! The Apple Cider donuts were as amazing as I remembered them to be! Hands down, one of the best Apple Cider donuts I've had. They had a nice apple flavor to it and weren't overly sweet like other ones I've had. I also had the original sugared donuts. This was my first time having one of them. I really like how fluffy they were but they tasted a little boring and didn't have much flavor to them. Overall, I'm a huge fan of Duke's Donuts. It's a nice little comforting treat to have on a cold day!

At the end, we got in line and ordered 10 donuts to bring home. We got 6 apple cider and 4 sugar donuts. We were all so excited because last week we had delicious donut's from a local farm. These donuts were SO disappointing! We got in the car and the bag with the apple cider donuts was leaking grease onto the seat of my car. My son tasted a sugar donut, which was also greasy, but not as bad as the apple cider, and they didn't really have a flavor. The apple cider donuts had a nice taste but were so greasy that they gave us all an instant stomach ache and are now just sitting on the counter. Maybe they were made with old grease? Or it wasn't hot enough? But I've never had this experience before. I'm really disappointed because it's tough to get the kids out to do something like this, and we can't even eat them. I feel like I wasted $25!

Puts a smile on everyone's face, I promise you! Paula's donuts are much larger than most places in town. So large, they look heavy. You don't even need to eat a whole one to reach your maximum sugar intake for the day but dang, they sure are deeeeelicious! I always pickup a honey glazed donut. If that was the only donut available in the world, I would be totally happy with that and never complain. It's perfection. Thick, fluffy, soft, sugary goodness. Go home, mic it for 10 secs and eat slowly with a tall glass of cold milk. Paula's has donut holes, a variety of donuts, the best Bavarian Crème donut, I've ever had in my life, they have some pastries, bagels, breakfast/lunch sandwiches (which I do very much enjoy) and coffee! They also have a HUGE donut that I've ordered for birthdays and the Super Bowl, you create it the way you want, put on a cute plate and serve (no one will miss the cake/cupcakes). This location has ample parking, a decent size seating/dining area, well lit with plenty of sunlight coming through the windows so you can sit and contemplate why you're eating so many donuts and how to lose weight. Oh, and the staff is great! They keep things moving efficiently here.

So we stopped for Tim Horton's to at least make a little lemonade out of lemons, and enjoy a hot beverage together. Which brings me to Wolter's. We stopped at the Tim's in the same plaza parking lot as Wolter's, and had our Tim's in a spot facing Wolter's. Had that not happened, I'd still not know that Wolter's exists. Because tucked away in this eclectic plaza is their bakery, and it is easy to miss. So to continue our caloric-self-soothing, we walked over to Wolter's. It is a small bakery, but not tiny, big enough for us to be in the counter area with two other patrons, and still be spaced out. Next to the counter is an adorable seating room that looked like a grandma's living room, which also, not surprisingly, seemed to be occupied by adorable grandmas. When we're back into eating in, I definitely want to join them one morning. I have greys and readers, I'll blend. :-D The counterspace has a sizable display case with LOTS of baked goodies: breads, rolls, pastries, donuts, danish, fritters, cupcakes, pies, cakes, cookies, specialty baked goods--no carb-or-sugar-shortage here! I asked the counterperson her favorite, and she of course said it is all good, but the almond rings are their specialty. We didn't want a whole almond ring, but we were in luck to still be able to sample their signature flavor. On Wednesdays, they have sticky buns, one of which is an almond ring variety, with the same filling and icing. We purchased one of those, a cinnamon roll sticky bun, an almond horn, and an angel cream donut. The bill was $5.46--WOW, great deal for four homemade baked goods, so we're off to a great start! Back out to our car we went, to continue sipping our Tim's and try our Wolter's selections. The hubbs ate his cinnamon bun first, and said it was good. When it was my turn to commandeer the bag, I went for the almond ring sticky bun, and ... WOWWW-WOWWW-WEEE-WAHHHH!! What a DELICIOUS treat! Now, I ADORE anything flavored with almond extract, LOVE that cherry'ish taste, and this bun had LOTS of it, all in the best possible way. The icing and the pastry cream filling were just the right amount of almond-extract-flavor-heaven. The sweet almond slivers on top added a little crunch dimension. Pure YUM. Next the hubbs and I shared the almond horn, and again WOWWZA--again, that fantastic almond extract flavor I adore. But beyond that, the texture was just perfect! It was a soft, chewy cookie with a solid coating of sliced almonds that was a delightful crunch into the sweet innards. SO GOOD. We were so full by then, after Tim's bagels and these sweets, that we brought the donut home to our son. He ate it in like 30 seconds. So it must have been pretty decent, too. :-D SO HAPPY to have discovered Wolter's today! My mom's birthday is on Groundhog's Day, so this timing was great! I'd like to bring my mom in on her birthday to select some goodies, as she too is a sweet-tooth, and will have no problem picking an assortment of treats from Wolter's. If you haven't tried Wolter's yet, and want to snag a spread of homemade sweet treats, I five-star-HIGHLY recommend you stop by! I may be with the grandmas in the sitting room. :-D
