I was greeted at the door by the bestest boy/doggo named Teddy and someone who I assumed was one of the owners. The shop is very cute, lots of gnomes, rubber ducks, and fun quotes showcasing the owners' sense of humor. The owner was actually very helpful and gave me tips on how to best enjoy my baked goods. I got ten items for a very reasonable price! Sweet roll: one of their popular items. A roll with warm sugar and cinnamon on the inside and gooey frosting on top, but I can see why they don't advertise it as a cinnamon roll. It doesn't smack you in the face with that cinnamon flavor, but has all the other good parts of the roll. Blueberry muffin: not too sweet and chock full of blueberries and streusel topping! Turnovers: I wasn't a fan of the icing sugar topping, but the puff pastry was light and flaky. I'm sure if I was home and was able to pop it in the oven it would have been amazing! Cupcakes: this was a surprising gem for me. I generally find cupcakes and their frosting to be too sweet, but the actual cake was light on the sugar and balanced well with the buttercream. The cake felt a little dry, but my cupcake was chocolate flavored and sometimes that has an innate dryness to it. I looked online, and they actually have a crazy amount of cool flavors! I would love to come back to try more flavors. All in all, a very pleasant experience, if you're in Corfu you should definitely stop by :)

Alden Bakery and Cafe - 16oz vanilla raspberry iced latte and a blueberry muffin

A little slice of espresso heaven in Alden? Believe it…read more I moved to Alden fully expecting to spend my mornings making coffee pilgrimages to Williamsville, Hamburg, or--if things got really desperate--Buffalo. Because let's face it: small towns are adorable, but they're not exactly known for serving up killer espresso drinks that don't taste like regret and cardboard. Enter Alden Bakery and Cafe, the local caffeine oasis that not only exceeded my expectations--it obliterated them with one perfect iced breve latte. And when I say perfect, I mean every single time. I don't have to explain what a breve is. I don't get judgmental looks like I just asked for a cheeseburger taco in a sourdough cup. They just make it--creamy, bold, beautiful--and I sip it like a queen. My friend from Jacksonville, FL visited and I took her here. She went back to her big ol' city and texted me, genuinely annoyed to wake up in a place that didn't have this café. Big city, no Alden Bakery. Tragic. As for the baked goods--listen, I'm not your sugar fairy. I've tried a few things and they seemed lovely, but I'm not a sweets person. What I can vouch for are the breakfast sandwiches and bagels. Absolute yes. 10/10 would eat in my car again while pretending I'm not still in my pajamas. Support local. Sip happy. Bless this little caffeine kingdom.

This is an establishment where you order and pay at the counter, then are served if you choose to dine-in. It definitely has a small town diner vibe where you know they have their daily regulars. They have a whole case of homemade baked goods, a small breakfast and lunch menu, and a number of coffee options. I got a 16oz vanilla raspberry iced latte, a blueberry muffin, and a pumpkin shaped sugar cookie and paid $14 and some change. Everything was delicious. The service I got was great. I have no complaints. Stop in if you're in the Alden area.

The ambiance…read moreis warm and inviting, the food is excellent, and it's the kind of place you want to linger with a cup of coffee. Unfortunately, what I experienced this past Saturday morning completely undermined that charm. A local running group had clearly made this their post-run stop, which in itself is perfectly fine. Many of the women were seated respectfully like any other patrons. However, one man took it upon himself to turn the front of the bakery into his personal gym. While customers stood waiting for their coffee, he was drenched in sweat, performing cooldown exercises right in the lobby--hands flat on the floor, legs in the air, squats, jumping--completely oblivious to the people around him. The smell alone was enough to turn your stomach. This isn't a locker room. It's not a sidewalk. It's a place where people come to eat and drink. There was no awareness, no courtesy, no basic respect for shared space. It was uncomfortable, unhygienic, and frankly shocking to witness in a setting that otherwise prides itself on atmosphere. The bakery deserves praise for its food and environment, but management needs to step in and set clear expectations. Allowing behavior like this diminishes the experience for everyone else. There's a line between casual and careless--and this crossed it entirely. Hope you are ashamed of your self sir and I use the word sir loosely...
