Top notch beer in a lovely setting. Tilted Barn gets it's namesake because the brewery is located on a farm, in a barn. Open on Saturdays from 1-4pm, you can get a tasting for 4$ or a little bit more if you want a pint or tulip glass to keep. I tried the three beers they were pouring this past weekend, an IPA, stout, and pumpkin beer. The pumpkin, Jack, was phenomenal if you are in to pumpkin beers. The brew it with pumpkins that they grow on the farm. The IPA, Early Riser, was also very good. Hoppy but not overpoweringly bitter. Raffi, a super tasty oatmeal stout, was smooth and nutty. The only downfall of this awesome brewery is that they are currently cash and check only. I made the mistake of not having enough cash for the amount of beer I wanted to bring home. They offer two different growler sizes, 750ml and a much larger one that I forget the exact oz. I did pick up two 750mls and had just enough left over for a few oysters from Walrus and Carpenter. W and C stop by the brewery once a month to shuck some of their amazing oysters. Fresh and delicious. Don't forget to pet the dogs, hang out with the chickens, and take a walk through the fields of growing hops, veggies and flowers. The brewery is easy to miss, as it is down a long dirt road. Went to The Mooring Restaurant in Newport for the Tilted Barn Craft Beer and Dinner event with some friends. The Mooring was a definite A+ with excellent food, service and ambiance. The Tilted Barn unfortunately was an F all the way. The representatives from the Tilted Barn NEVER let their table which was off in the corner of the room out of the way of everything and everyone. They never made one announcement about their craft business nor anything about the varied beers that they were presenting. I have been to other craft beer dinners where the beer sponsor actually gave a short background about the companies history of brewing and was enthusiastic to talk about each beer as it came out with each course. It could have been Joe's beer company because there was so little representation of the Tilted Barn last night. I really enjoy going to the Tilted Barn in RI and there beer selection is excellent. The beer presented last night was either very sour or very dark. My taste is more on the DIPA but everyone's taste is different. Overall, a good night thanks to the fine folks at The Mooring who obviously take pride in their product and brand. The Tilted Barn could take a lesson or two from them. read more

The mini break that my BF and I took was not long enough to fit this Gem in there. By the time we left Tilly's, we only had time to enjoy one beer at this brewery. It was SO good. We wanted another one, but they were closing and of course, my growlers were at home. We should have tried to con them into purchasing some cans, but didn't press our luck. We know that the next time we drive out this way, we will be making the Tilted Barn Brewery our first stop on our brew adventure. So it was one of those days that was just a March day with the smell of spring in the air and the sun peeking through. Perfect for a ride in the country. We went and had lunch and on the way home we saw the sign for this brewery. As we had never been we turned in and bumped up the dirt road to a lovely little area with red farm buildings and a pond and many many many people. Supposedly we were all self isolating due to the virus and yet here was a large group of people enjoying themselves.I went and got in the line that stretched out of the main barn building so that I could go in and order beers for the two of us. As I entered the building I could see many other things such as candles and hats and t-shirts and sweatshirts for sale. And they were really quite cute. We are not IPA drinkers and most breweries now specialize in that type of beer but the woman who helped me was kind enough to recommend a Pilsner and an ale. So I got one of each of them plus a four pack to bring home to our son and a candle for his wife. We thoroughly enjoyed the beers that we chose. 1 was called pasture and the other was a number 24. All together with the candle and the four pack and two 10 Oz beers it was $50. So not cheap but a nice thing to do on a lovely day read more

If there was a place on earth that would make me happy to own, Tilted Barn would be it. Walking past the pond and through the doors of the barn was like a step back into rural perfection. Wood burning stove doing its thing on a cold winter day, black lab sleeping next to said fire, golden lab looking for pettings.. Great selection of tasty beer; however, do not go here on a weekend or a day when there is nice weather. It was equivalent to being on a children's playground at the zoo. Kids were constantly running into our table and spilling everyone's beers while they're parents enjoyed themselves. The kid to adult ratio was easily 4:1. I think families use this wide open beautiful scenery as a playground for their children. I would much rather go to a brewery that is more adult friendly. ‍ read more

The barn is awesome and the beer is pretty good. The service could use some work. Certain employees are fantastic while others are not friendly at all. No games, no dogs, and a three beer maximum. All of which is fine, but certain employees are very rude about the way they enforce these rules. The management should make the place a little more relaxed.. they are a brewery after all. read more

I'm going five stars based on their entire concept. Small barn on a family farm, open limited hours with small batch releases. Line up starting 30-45 minutes before opening, and limits on the cans you can purchase. Check their Facebook page for a list of what they're selling in cans that week as it rotates. I did have to think fast, as by the time I got inside their small barn to see their menu, I needed to know what I wanted to drink and if I wanted to dive in to a can of a beer I hadn't yet had (yes duh). I opted for the sampler, as I could try three brews. I tried one of the canned options to decide if I liked it (I did). I purchased a four pack of the "Violet" to take home. I'm not a beer connoisseur, so I am not going to give you their flavor profiles, but I enjoyed them. Cute space in the loft of the bar(n) to hang out and enjoy your libations! This place is awesome. It is set back in a wooded area and it is pretty no frills. It reminds me of the original Tree House location, but even more rustic. I went on a Saturday, so I didn't do the usual can release/wait in line thing. People were just hanging out in the parking lots and in the brewery. I got to try a few different selections and I was impressed as always. I've had a lot of their beers, but when I went, I had The Other One and it really blew me away. We went before they started selling cans, so things may have changed! The line was extremely long and took quite some time. It seemed to be a combination of (1) the fact that there was only one line for growler fills and ordering flights, and (2) it was a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The barn itself is tiny, so the line got a bit bottlenecked. Would be great to have two separate lines and entrances for growlers and flights. The time to get the growler filled also took awhile--we ordered flights and went upstairs, which was great! Such a cute vibe and I love the branding! Rhode Island breweries, if you don't have people lining up in a muddy lot just to buy cans, take notice. We made our first stop here today on a Saturday at 1pm only to see a 100+ person line just to buy cans on a cold October weekend. Beer was EXCELLENT (The Chosen One IPA) was the best of the bunch. Beer was good. No flights. Ordered 4-6 oz pours for sampling but by the time we sat we were unsure which beer was which. Got a hot dog from food truck that was good but when we went to leave couldn't find a trash. We brought are glasses and trash inside and still no trash. Left glasses and trash on counter and when buying beer to take home server brought the trash to me and asked if it was mine and told me there was a trash by parking around the corner. This place is great! We drove out here for the first time on a rainy October Saturday not knowing what to expect- and so glad we did! Ok first timers: the line of 100+ peeps is for the can sales. You can wait for that OR Walk up to the left and get in line for a glass of tasty barley pop. We had the Jack (pumpkin ale) and The Chosen One (juicy delicious IPA). I am sure this place is awesome in sunny weather but in the rain I wish there was more room to stand inside. It's a farm so there was a ton of mud in the rain. Ended up here on a Friday night and was surprised at how crowded it was, being down a dark dirt road. Alas, it appears that we "discovered" this gem a lot later than many others have. Stepping over toddlers and baby paraphernalia was just slightly irritating as it gave me some flashbacks to Brooklyn bars (although to be fair, I never went to a bar in a barn in Brooklyn). The seating spaces were cozy, and a stove kept the place nice and warm on a chilly evening. The line to get beer was a little on the long side as a lot of people were stopping in to fill growlers, and at one point there was only one person behind the bar to handle the demand. That being said, each beer we tried was worth the wait, and worth a return trip. Milo's Phoenix (IPA) and First Harvest Mosaic (dry-hopped Pale Ale) were particular favorites. This place is excellent. It can get crowded, so be prepared to wait a little for your beer or for your can pickup. If you are on twitter, follow them because they announce a lot of information from what is on tap and available by can as well as when the lines are short in case you can sneak over. On our first visit, it was not too crowded and we got to hang out and try the three beers they had on tap. They were excellent. We bought some cans to take home before they sold out as well. Fantastic beers, but buying a couple of picnic tables would go a long way. You park in a dirt lot, wait in line for your beer, and then stand around or bring your own chair. For those of you always on the hunt, make sure to swing by Tilted Barn on Friday or Saturday. Located at n a no-kidding hop farm, they're only open three hours a day, each day, and selling growlers and 1L bottles of their amazing IPA (and other!) offerings. They will also provide you with a tasting glass so you can sample all four of the beers they have on tap that weekend. Post tasting you can buy a growler or bottle of the brews that caught your taste buds' fancy. Growlers are $20 ($15 if you bring one back to refill), the tasting course was $5, or $9 if you elected to buy their pint glass as well. Depending on when you go, they may be out / limited on how much of which brew you can buy. Tastings also included their First Harvest IPA and The Other One DIPA, and it was a close call between the First Harvest and Peeptoad. Everyone is very friendly, from the people pouring beer to the cats and dogs roaming the grounds. Cans can be bought individually, and they offer 3 beer flights as well as full and small pours. Love the Barn. I try to get here weekly but hours are limited. Favorites include Farm Girl IPA, and Chosen One. (The other awesome RI DIPA) It's a small brewery with very good beer. Sometimes they run out. They are expanding and will have a larger brew system soon. 2 Great dogs, chickens, and a garden with hops growing in it. So nice to visit, and you meet the nicest people there. Check Facebook for hours and what's on tap because it changes up from week to week. Driving down an unmarked dirt road in the middle of nowhere sounds like the start of a horror movie but in the case of the Tilted Barn Brewery it is the start of a great beer experience. I have been wanting to try this place for some time but due to outdated Rhode Island Laws they can only be open a few hours a week. It was well worth the wait. It is a cool little place. They grow a lot of their own ingredients they use in the beers. The brewery and tasting room is an old barn and for $5 you can sample the 4 beers they have on tap. All the ones they had on tap were fantastic.You are able to purchase up to 288oz per visit per person. We got a growler of their Early Riser IPA which is one of the better ones I have had. This is a must a visit for any fan of beer. They have some great beers and it is just an overall unique experience! read more

Been on our brewery list for a while, and we were down this way today so we decided to go. When they say tilted barn it really is in a barn! That was kinda cool but dress warm if your there in colder weather. This is a hard place to go and hang out as there is not a lot of room to stand if there more than a handful of people. They do have an upstairs but it's also limited. Good amount of beers on tap and I like everything I had I just felt like they all tasted similar to one another. We did have a lot of IPA's though so that could be why. All in all a good place and you should definitely check it out! read more

I give Tilted Barn a two for a few reasons...but before I begin, you need to know that the people are wicked nice. Everyone was really friendly, as patrons were enjoying the grounds and beers. Unfortunately, we could only sample 2 beers, as they ran out of the other ones. The sample sizes were a bit small for a tasting. The lines were long, and the staff was overwhelmed. I'm sure this will remedy itself over time as they grow. I always give a second chance, and from what I've seen, this place is on the up and up. read more

One of my favorite weekend hangouts! Matt, Kara, family, friends and dogs are very welcoming, and the beer is amazing! The atmosphere is chill and they have food trucks/ vendors most days. The beer tends to be earthy, hoppy east coast hazy style pale and India pale ales, but they include blondes, stouts, porters, and seasonal offerings as well. OMG! This has the best double IPA I've ever tasted! All their beers are a tasty treat. The atmosphere is cool. The staff are nice and friendly.
