She's an artist, a designer, and a true innovator. There hasn't been a single design I've shown her (even the most elaborate Pinterest inspo) that she couldn't pull off and she always manages to elevate it beyond what I imagined. I first came to Miyako in search of a nail artist for my wedding. Leading up to the big day, we experimented with a few different styles I had in mind, and she nailed every single one (pun intended). She also did my Barbie-in-Vegas-themed bachelorette nails, which were absolutely stunning. I felt like a bad b**** every time I walked out of her studio. What truly sets Miyako apart is her meticulous attention to detail. The shape, smoothness, and evenness of the nails are always flawless. Even with just a plain color, my nails would look like they were perfect press on designs. You can tell she's a true creative who deeply cares about her craft. I also really appreciated the one-on-one setting--it's just you and her in a peaceful, distraction-free space, which makes the experience feel that much more special. I'm so sad I moved away from RPV and can't see her regularly anymore--but I'll absolutely be making that 2-hour drive for special occasions. She's that good, and honestly, I haven't found anyone else like her!

I understand that misunderstandings happen, but considering the cost of the service, I do expect my requests to be followed as closely as possible. I've also noticed that the atmosphere has changed. I used to really enjoy the vibe here, but the music being played now isn't as relaxing as it once was. For me, getting my nails done is also a chance to unwind, so the overall environment matters. I've had positive experiences here, which is why I'm giving three stars rather than writing off the salon altogether. I simply want to leave feeling that I received what I requested and had a relaxing experience. At this point, though, I may start looking for a salon that is a better fit for what I'm looking for.

Thankful for that bc nothing turns me off more when I get my nails done and the tech just nickel and dime you for anything they can to add to my gel manicure. I've visited about four times now, and each trip just reminds me why I don't come back more often: while the men on the team offer fantastic service, the women working there consistently lack warmth, smiles, or basic hospitality the moment you walk through the door. The Good: The guy who did my manicure is amazing--super nice, friendly, and did a great job on my nails. The woman who handled my pedicure was also wonderful, and her work was top-notch. The Not-So-Good: The nail tech doing my design, however, didn't even bother to say hello. Throughout the service, she never asked how I was doing or checked if everything looked okay. My cuticles were left looking really rough, and she skipped the basic courtesy of applying any oil or lotion at the end. In fact, it was so bad that I ultimately asked her to skip the design on my ring fingers because I didn't want to draw any more attention to it. Ironically, my pedicure technician was the one who noticed how dry my hands looked and kindly handed me some oil. To top it off, when the tech finishing my nails was done, she didn't even say thank you. The Verdict: At $130 for a Gel-X set, the baseline expectation is that your cuticles will look presentable and you'll receive basic courtesy. If you go here, hope you get seated with one of the male technicians who actually cares about the client experience!

I did my research carefully and had a shortlist...VERY short...of nail salons I'm willing to try (and trust) close to home in the South Bay. I live in PV and there's nowhere here I want to go! It was my first experience having my nails done in a small space rented out in a larger salon, and it felt much more personalised, almost like a private space. I don't think I'll ever get a manicure done again in one of those headache-inducing "assembly-line" style nail salons that stink of acrylic primer. I got a custom-mixed colour as close as possible to Chanel's Rouge Noir, nails lacquered like Billie Holiday used to wear...a version of the 1930s manicure with the moons left open, except painted like a V. They came out perfect. At the two and a half week mark they still looked great...I would have let them keep going a bit longer but I broke a thumbnail (that keeps breaking in the same spot for the last few years...such a bummer) down to the quick. I had ZERO issues with these...no lifting or peeling, like can sometimes happen with gel polish. Work is outstanding. Prices are more than fair. Janet's awesome. I'll be back!! TL,DR: I HIGHLY recommend Janet Kong for her TOP QUALITY work, the spotless, comfortable atmosphere of her workspace, and her solicitous, easy manner.

I love the shape of my nails! I got the gel manicure ($65) and 4 of my nails have glittery/sparkle flecks that were individually added. There were so many sparkles and glitter options. Mine has an oyster shell appearance and is really fun to look at. The process took 45 minutes but passed so quickly because there was a TV for me to watch Netflix. I ended The bad: It's $8 per nail for an embellishment so it can get pretty pricey. It makes sense with how much meticulous care goes into each nail and how each fleck of gold and glitter was placed. I probably cant get these nails too often due to cost but it was definitely worth pampering myself with some self-care for a special occasion! The interesting: I ended up watching Love is Blind's reunion even though I didn't see any episode from that season. This is the 1st nail salon I've been to with individual private rooms. The room had a side chair as well if you bring someone with you.
