I loved my service here, and I LOVED the way my manicure came out. Janet is WONDERFUL...like, I'd hang out with her IRL...and she does absolutely top-notch work. I did my research carefully and had a shortlist...VERY short...of nail salons I'm willing to try (and trust) close to home in the South Bay. I live in PV and there's nowhere here I want to go! It was my first experience having my nails done in a small space rented out in a larger salon, and it felt much more personalised, almost like a private space. I don't think I'll ever get a manicure done again in one of those headache-inducing "assembly-line" style nail salons that stink of acrylic primer. I got a custom-mixed colour as close as possible to Chanel's Rouge Noir, nails lacquered like Billie Holiday used to wear...a version of the 1930s manicure with the moons left open, except painted like a V. They came out perfect. At the two and a half week mark they still looked great...I would have let them keep going a bit longer but I broke a thumbnail (that keeps breaking in the same spot for the last few years...such a bummer) down to the quick. I had ZERO issues with these...no lifting or peeling, like can sometimes happen with gel polish. Work is outstanding. Prices are more than fair. Janet's awesome. I'll be back!! Plenty of parking available! +she's located in the salon cutaway hair salon. Receptionist should be able to guide you but when you step in, walk to the left of receptionist and it'll be the first white curtain you see on the right. +Janet is super friendly, down to earth, and patient! I didn't know what I want as a design and walked in clueless. In response, Janet asked me to pick 4-5 designs from her IG that I liked so she can create a freestyle design for me on the spot! picked out few that I liked, let her know what color I wanted and off she went. Her creative juice was flowing and we just chatted the whole time, getting to know each other cracking jokes while she beautified my nails designs I liked were: simple accent design, red (since lunar new year is coming up), and ombré/gardient and she literally designed mixture of all the things I liked but even better! +Janet prioritizes what client wants but will guide you to get out of your comfort zone also! She asked me if I liked rhinestones / bling design and when I said no, she ditched her idea of putting a flower piece but she showed me what one small rhinestone would look as an accent nail and it was so cute! I probably would have never asked for it myself but I'm glad she pushed me out of my comfort zone so I could explore more cute designs :) +prior to Janet, I wasn't fond of doing my nails because I've had bad experiences with people cleaning my cuticles roughly and it was painful to me. Janet explained I have sensitive nails and when I told her about my past experiences, she made sure to go easy on me and softly that it didn't hurt AT ALL. Just got my nails done by Janet yesterday, and I have to say, she totally lived up to the Yelp expectations! She rents a small room in Cutaway Hair Salon, and since it is a small space with just her and the customer, it can get a little too close for comfort. Luckily, she is super sweet and friendly without being too overbearing. She is easy to talk to, but if you feel like staying quiet, she will just zone in on what she is doing and let you be you. Secondly, she is just good at what she does! You can tell she takes pride in what she does, and she really spent painstaking amount of time and effort on my nails to make sure I was happy with what I got. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and we deviated from it a bit, but only after we discussed it together. What really impressed me was that while she was doing my nails, I wasn't too happy with one of the colors and she changed it out right away without trying to convince me to let her finish. I totally respect that! Lastly, she is hardworking, enthusiastic, and detail oriented. I had my nails and toes done, and I can safely say I've never had a better mani or a pedi. If you're in a hurry, you wouldn't be able to do both mani and pedi since she is the only person there. If you're used to going to a nail place with 20 workers that tend to your nails and toes at the same time, it might require some patience to come here, but trust me, it is well worth it! I love this spot! I also love Janet! It's in the Cutaway Salon on PCH. I moved to California about 10 months ago, and had a nail technician that I'd absolutely loved. I was hesitant to try and find someone to tackle my nails. Janet is so engaging, which is something I loved in a technician. She also wants you to be happy with your final product on your nails. Location/Parking Inside Cutaway salon. There's multiple entrances to Cutaway, but if you enter where there's a front desk, they'll let you know where her nail salon is. Lots of parking as this plaza doesn't seem to get too busy (I've been to this plaza multiple times and it always seems pretty empty or I've just been very lucky with parking). My Experience If you're okay with a 1 on 1 session, Janet is def the girl to go to. Her salon is in a small clean space which includes space for a pedi and a table to get your nails done. She has lots of colors and designs to choose from or you can show her what you want. Janet and I were talking the whole time and the time went by so quickly I didn't even realize how fast I got my nails done. I rarely ever get manicures as I love switching my colors weekly, but decided to get one because my cuticles were getting ugly. This was my VERY FIRST time getting a gel manicure so I was pretty excited. Plus Janet threw in a free design, which was very sweet of her! This nail salon is located inside a hair salon called "Cut Away Hair & Salon". At first I thought I was at the wrong place because it didn't say "Thepinkong", but the other workers inside are also super friendly. The whole manicure took about an hour and a half, and throughout the entire thing, we had a nice little conversation. I did not know what design I wanted, so I told Janet to surprise me, and she did not disappoint! Although it's only been three days since I've gotten my nails done, the fact that nothing chipped or smudged was already a PLUS as impatient little me always gets my nails smudged just hours after I get them done.
