We wanted to try a restaurant close to our hotel and came across Tierra del Queiles. All the restaurants in this area are fine establishments. It's difficult to choose when you're only going to be in Madrid for a few days. We were able to get a table at 12:45 pm on a Friday without waiting. ***OUR PICKS*** SANGRIA ~ refreshing! I don't think I had one bad sangria while in Spain! So you can't go wrong when you order one of these. 5/5 BEER ~ House beer on tap. A good choice if you're a beer drinker. Cold one on a hot day just hit the spot! 5/5 CONFIT ARTICHOKE ~ tender artichoke with a puréed potato underneath. 5/5 CESAR SALAD ~ this was needing more greens as it was a tad bit salty. 3.5/5 HAKE INORIOSAUCE ~ delicate white fish adorn with red peppers and garlic. Tasty, yet a very light meal. Wish there was a bit more on the plate. 4/5 The restaurant was modern and clean with bright, natural lighting. It's set up much like a cafe. The server was attentive and accommodating, but somewhat aloof. Food was good and appetizing. read more

Don't know who our server was as she didn't say her name. She couldn't speak very good English, but I managed to convey to her what we wanted. We had some nice red wine and I did get to taste it. My husband had monkfish, and he said it was pretty good, and I had the risotto with mushrooms which I loved. We had an apple tart with ice cream for dessert. It was nice and light not heavy. It's your typical Madrid street restaurant with sidewalk seating. I had the braised oxtails and they were okay. Waiter was attentive but again, I'm here for the food, and the food wasn't anything to write home about. read more

Food was fine, but a little pricey. Might have been a language barrier with my poor Spanish but we had to ask for some items a couple of times, and there was an error with one item. There is an extra 10% charge to sit on the patio, which although not unheard of here, is an extra expense. What really annoyed me was that they outright asked me to tip at the end - this is the first time on my entire trip I've been expected to tip anywhere. Locals sit on 2nd floor where air condition is better, but be prepared to used your translator if you are not so fortunate to know Spanish. I think the meat dishes are better than the vegetarian dishes here. There is an option for a vegetarian tasting menu, but all the items are on it were fried this and fried that (1 star off). I ordered the meat items and really liked the iberico pork cheeks and grilled sirloin. For dessert, do not order the fruit carpaccio, because it is basically thinly sliced fruit (1 star off). Overall, I think this restaurant is good for a weeknight meal, but I would not come here for a special occasion. I need more "Olé!" read more

The food was great and the service was awesome! The waiter gave us an appetizer on the house, which was really good. It was a good way to end our tiring day around Segovia and Avila!
