What a wonderful spot for a family dinner! We came here visiting our relatives in Spain and they suggested Lamucca! I loved the ambiance which was cozy and dim. We went downstairs to a brick alcove which from our research used to be an aqueduct or sewer, and we loved the arched brick with a low lighting! We had various entrees; pad Thai, tacos, burgers, Caesar salad, and apps we had the plantains! The food was delish and the service was spot on! Convenient but Inconsistent Dining in Madrid Lamucca in Madrid stands out for its convenience, being open late and throughout the day without any breaks. However, our overall experience was mixed, making it hard to fully recommend. The menu offers a range of dishes priced between 15-30 euros, with decent portion sizes. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was inconsistent. Some dishes were barely edible, particularly the fish, which did not taste fresh at all. On the other hand, we enjoyed some of the other dishes, such as a tasty olive mix appetizer. This inconsistency was a major drawback. While the patatas bravas were decent, the tuna tartar was inedible, highlighting the restaurant's unpredictability. PRETENTIOUS FAST-FOOD FOR DISINFORMED MIDLE AGED VICTIMS A lack-of-identity-kind of restaurant. The food is not totally terrible, but it seems to be a tutti-frutti of cliches. Pizza, burger, ceviche... one of each. All over the place, and nothing really remarcable. It is like spoiled teenagers opening their parents' freezer and choosing from a bunch of unhealthy Walmart best-sellers. Same with decoration. It looks like I-wrongly-believe--I-know-what-was-trendy-in-New York-20-years-ago. Oldish warehousish space, a lot of brick, tonet-imitating-chairs and abundance of carbon bulbs.... Not very exciting. THE PRIMARK OF RESTAURANTS (but not inexpensive) Overall, nothing really is superterrible here; in the sense that it is very unlikely that you get immediately sick by eating this food or spending time in this poor design. But we normally ask restaurants to do more than that, right? Restaurants like this, with super cliche tutti-frutti menus, and cliche retro decoration are providing a new notion of "pretentious-fast-food" for middle class middle aged people with no gastronomic culture. But this uncreative disengaged way to deal with a business kills the cultural, social and economic capital of a city. This has become a concerning trend in Madrid, mostly controlled by equally unsophisticated neoliberal investors, who normally do not have a gastronomic background, and who paradoxically see themselves as radical lefties because when they were 17 they spent six months in London and attend Amaral gigs. It is difficult to say if these gastronomy-and-design-blind publics are previous to these boring restaurants; or if it is the blatant dullness of these restaurants what produces these quality-ignoring publics. I believe the second option is what best explains how it works. That is how it worked for McDonalds, right? But ultimately, this is the Primark of restaurants. In a city like Madrid, with such a unique gastronomic ecosystem, even if you are someone dreaming about being in what a disinformed person thinks the New York of the 2000s was, it seems a real shame to put your time, your support and ultimately your money here. read more

Decor was sexy n cozy, which as many who know Spanish ambiance is not always a sure thing (they love their fluorescent overhead lighting in most corner "bars"). The menu here is broad and filling. And of course loads of wine and beer, and booz The hummus was just ok but two thumbs up on the generous pile of pimentos de padron and the tasty ball of buffala! Came here for dinner last night! We split a pitcher of tinto sangria amongst the three of us. It had lots of fresh fruit and was not overly sweet. We loved it! To eat - I got the crispy chicken sandwich, my mom got the Mediterranean salad, and my dad got the Iberian pizza. The chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy, tho a little bland. I added mustard and it was great. My mom's salad had almost equal parts lettuce and garbanzo beans which was a bit much for her. My dad loved his pizza! I asked if she had been and she said that she and he boyfriend went many times so we went. Happy to report that it is very good food WTH an extensive menu and two can dine for 30 to 40 Euro quite nicely. I had pad Thai wand while it wasn't true to the dish it was delicious and satisfying. Visiting from Dallas and stumbled upon this place on a quiet street behind the Gran Via. We wanted to do the Spanish tapas thing and were not disappointed! We chose the grilled vegetables, shrimp scampi, calamari and risotto. More than enough for the two of us. Service was just okay. Not the friendliest staff but they did they jobs. The highlight for us was the sangria, which wasn't too strong or diluted, but just right and filled with diced apples and other fruit. I came here for a Monday lunch after having walked past the restaurant a few times. The clinentele at this hour consists of pure business men and women giving the restaurant a hint of arrogance. Fortunately, I did not feel at all belittled by the bartenders or waiters serving me. I walked in without a reservation and was told that there would be a short wait until a table became available. I was told it would be a ten minute and was invited to have a drink at the bar. I knew I´d come to enjoy my visit after trying the white wine and the spectacular olives that came as a tapa. Before ten minutes had even passed we were sat at a nice table in the downstairs area. The ambience is elegant but reserved. The art and decorations are all on sale and you are encouraged to check out everything on show. My meal consisted of a menu del dia that did not disappoint. I had a nice light pasta salad followed by salmon dish that I found to be delicious. A strong coffee capped of the meal nicely. All for a fair price of 12 euros. Lamucca is near the Catalonia las Cortes Hotel where my wife and I are staying. We have had lunch here twice. Both times they have been very busy which is a good sign. Their menu is somewhat eclectic with pad Thai and Vietnamese spring rolls -in Madrid! This made me a little suspicious however these suspicions were unfounded. Even though busy we were served promptly and the servers were friendly. The first visit my wife had the onion soup and I had a traditional Spanish tomato soup. Both were excellent. The next visit my wife had the onion soup again. I had the luncheon "menu" which consisted of a starter, main course, and desert. I had a salad comprised of frisée, baby arugula, pear slices, Brie cubes, and ham cubes. Excellent and I think I can successfully replicate this at home. For my main course I had squid in its ink with rice. The squid was tender and flavorful; however, the ink turns your mouth, lips, and teeth black (temporarily fortunately). I finished with a flan (after all I am in Spain). For those craving a hamburger, theirs appear very American and good. All in all very good food and service. read more

To be honest I'm not a big fan if spanish food in general, except for their olives, bread and sangria. I met a few friends here on a double date and the ambiance is great. It was a busy Sunday night and we had reservations, they sat us quickly and in a private area that was very nice and tucked away. We sat down and ordered drinks that come very quickly. A little tip when ordering drinks, the pitchers of sangria or tinto de verano (highly recommended) were not as good/strong and when you order just a glass. Soo keep that in mind. The meat is a european mix ... from pasta to some spanish classics, steak and seafood and curry. Something for everyone. The portions are a little on the small side (but only compared to massive american sized meals lol). Between two of us we shared 3 entrees... haha we are fatties. One of the meals was a chicken pad thai, while it was not terrible it wasn't great either... too much sauce, very little chicken and bland seasoning, not true to the dish and no veggies in it either. Defined skip it. A few things worth pointing, the spanish under season everything so get a side if their sea salt pellets and sprinkle everywhere. The spanish also like their steaks rare. If you ask for it medium it will be rare. Medium well will be more like medium. Service was friendly with multiple servers working all tables. But as customary in Spain they will usually only approach the table when called. read more

Lamucca de Prado offers a wide variety of food for their costumers. It is a great place to stop for a quick bite, or sit down with friends for a meal, with a cute and pleasant ambience. Menu items range from salads to fish to meat to hamburgers, and everything in between. The times I have gone, I have ordered the black pizza, the onion soup, the filet mignon, the croquettes, the jamón, and the green mini bell peppers, which are my personal favorite. Everything always comes out freshly prepared, and the flavor of the Spanish food tastes authentic. I really like the mini bell peppers, as they are toasted and seasoned with salt, but still retain its juicy flavor. The black pizza is good as well, topped with mushrooms, olives, and roasted tomatoes. It is called pizza because it is cooked using a charcoal fire, making the crust a light black. The filet mignon is tasty, but make sure to ask for it to be cooked a little more than your usual order, as in Spain they tend to undercook the meat. There are many more things on the menu I want to try, and hope to come back to Lamucca soon. read more

Very nice ambiance and eclectic selection of food. Great place to go if you're with a bigger group and can't decide on a restaurant specializing in a specific cuisine. The food was well prepared and the Spanish pepper tapas was excellent. The mussels, and the sea bass were also very good. They continuously shuffled the serving staff on us which was the biggest negative of the evening, it was especially annoying when the person who brought out our dishes was different than the person who took our orders and had no idea who had what, and since no one in our party spoke Spanish it took a couple of minutes swapping dishes for everyone to get the thing they ordered. The wine selection is solid, we went through 5 bottles, including on they touted as "the best in the world" unfortunately it didn't match up to a bottle we had from the day before. Overall: Really overpriced. The first thing to know about Lamucca is that it is incredibly popular and busy. Second, like many restaurants in Spain, the lunch hours are 1:30 to 4:00 PM (I think) and dinner hours are 8 or 8:30 PM to 2 AM (I think), so it won't be open if you try and go in between. It is not open continually from 1:30 PM to 2:00 AM as shown on in the business information. They observe the siesta, like most places in Spain. This isn't a complaint, just letting you know in case you're trying to go. Now when you combine those two things, you'll realize it's pretty hard to find a table when you probably want dinner. We showed up at about 8:30 PM on a Friday night and were told the wait was one and a half hours. Luckily there was some room at some of the bar tables, where they would also serve food, so we didn't have to wait that long. Our waiter was a nice guy who spoke a bit of English with an accent and he was able to take our order and get us started. For an appetizer we ordered toast with tomato, which we thought would be like a bruschetta. It was whole grain bread that wasn't toasted with a sort of chunky tomato salsa. It was all cold and kind of soggy, definitely not that great. For dinner we ordered the lamb chops, the steak (400 grams ~ 14 oz.), and the veal carpaccio. The lamb chops were tiny and there were very few, though the potatoes were really good. The steak was surprisingly larger than expected and was very good. The veal carpaccio was incredibly light, almost flavorless and pretty unsatisfying. For dessert we ordered two brownies, one with vanilla ice cream and one with banana ice cream, and a tiramisu. The brownies had lots of nuts and though they were priced with the ice cream, the ice cream was actually charged in addition to the expected price. The tiramisu was a bit more coffee flavored than I would have liked, but overall good. Overall, the only items that were to expectations were the steak and the tiramisu. For the amount that we ended up spending, it was a wholly underwhelming experience. I had many more impressive and less expensive meals just about everywhere we ate in Spain. If you're going, get the steak, but I would recommend finding somewhere else to eat. read more
