We had a fabulous meal here sharing lots of tapas including roasted artichoke hearts, shrimp with mango and avocado, mussels, meatballs, and patatas bravas. My favorite was probably the first three and I would not order the patatas bravas again. We made reservations (yes, fairly ness here in Madrid if you want to ensure seating at popular spots during meal times lunch or dinner). This was a more modern Spanish tapas place compared to other places we tried in Spain, but also very well done and delicious. You are greeted at the front with a nice bar, and the restaurant is "L" shaped. We sat in the back near the open window looking into the kitchen, which I enjoyed. I started my meal with a pisco sour, which was excellent. We ordered 10-12 dishes for 6 people and certainly overordered. There was lot of left over food and we were all stuffed. I think 6-8 dishes would be fine for moderate eaters for a party of 6. The waiter knew a decent amount of English and we get thru ordering off the English menu without much trouble. My favorite dishes were the roasted chicken, shrimp "scampi", octopus was a must order, and the tomato salad. As is customary in Spain, you pay per bottle of water at the table (1 liter given at a time usually into small tumblers), and there is a non optional "bread" fee that ranges 2-3 euro per person thats sorta of like a tax here in Madrid. Tax and water per person is usually already around $5 just FYI, before even considering cost of food. I would certainly return here to eat again. read more

What a great spot. Lunch is a little bit pricey for Madrid, but can't lie, it was delicious. We sat outside, and I was surprised to see when I walked in to use the bathroom, that this place is beautiful, hip and rather spacious. I can imagine coming here for dinner and drinks, this spot is perfection. We did a menu del dia for 12.5 euro which is a steal. We had a sweet potato salad, fish topped with veggies and a tiramisu. The fish was so fresh (although a few bones) and so healthy. We also decided to split a few apps, which is where things got a little pricier. The cod fritters are a must. I was expecting croquettes. These were all cod, flash fried in a delicious batter and there were about 10 of these meaty things for the 9 euros. The oxtail tacos were delicious, but 7 euro for 2 is a little bit more than I think they're worth. Service was great, sitting outside in the square is obviously wonderful on a beautiful day, but inside is not a bad option, and the food was delicious. As a tourist, it's definitely not super "Spanish", but enough to feel like you're in Spain, when you've had your fair share of tapas and looking for something a little different. read more

This was one of my favorite spots to go while visiting Madrid. It was down the street from our home so it was the prefect place to go have a bite and a drink. My boyfriend and I ordered a bottle of wine and the cheese/meat plate. I can't remember the name of the wine but it was very delicious. They bring the wine out in a silver vase. The cheese plate was just amazing everything on there from the cheese to the bread was Delicious. I wish the would have put more bread, that's how good it was. This place can get very busy so you'll probably have to wait a few minutes. They do have a bar area as soon as you walk in and can order a beer and just hangout. The restaurant is pretty big, I believe they even have a outside area. Each part of the restaurant is set up a little different making you want to come back and try sitting in a new spot each time you come. Everyone was very nice from the moment we walked in. First evening in madrid after a long day of travel and our host at the ALoft Grand Via recommends La Pescaderia. What a perfect way to start a vacation. Our bartender Jerardio suggested and ordered everything for us and it was all spectacular. Salmon tartare, baby squid and onions, and octopus carpaccio. He paired it with an incredible Albarino. We hadnt eaten all day so we got the mushroom risotto and he brought out a bottle of incredible rioja. WOW. Everything was fantastic. Food. Wine. Service. Atmosphere. We showed up at about 7 because we needed to eat and get some sleep, but at 8 the place filled up with locals. We definitely think it's a a recommended stop and apparently the locals do too. read more

However, the servers kept telling us "so-and-so will help you" until they forgot about us, and I had to insert myself. Someone finally did seat us--albeit outside--and it was chilly for May. It's disappointing that I had to write this review, because the food was incredible. We shared a few cuts of steak, croquettes, and salmon--all of which were 4+ star quality. Recently, food has been a matter of being good or bad; I haven't had the proclivity to really taste the dishes and intellectualize the experience. Everything changed when the grilled shrimp dish came. It had me teasing out all of the complex flavors: sesame seeds, the slightly citrusy sweet, the salty from the shrimp, and definitely a hint of olive oil. The more I ate, the more it confused me, and the more desperate I grew to know how they created this masterpiece. When I finished the shrimp, I couldn't help but use the dark brown bread to polish off the remaining sauce on the plate, and just as I was about to break the porcelain plate into pieces to eat the dish itself, the waiter put another one on the table. Confused, I said, "oh, I already got mine," but just as soon as the words left my mouth I instantly cursed my tongue for it's own sake. I'd have gladly tasted a second dish of it. The environment is very casual, many people coming in just for drinks and tapas, but it's also totally unique. I won't go into too much detail, but it has character. If I had to put a phrase to it, it would be something like "refined grunge." I will say though that even though the waitstaff was incredibly friendly to english speakers, it was--as it is at many places in madrid--tough to get the bill. Perfect place to have a late meal! We arrived to Madrid at 10pm and were starving. We stumbled upon La Pescadería and decided to try it. Had drinks and ordered the cheese platter which was amazing, lots of cheese and meats. Also had the vinegar anchovies and the homemade meatballs and everything was excellent! But the best part was the old fashioned cocktails we got which were made to perfection by the mixologist Sammy! He took his time with every cocktail he made and the pride for his craft was evident! First of all, what you want to do is get the sangria and then start eating the fruit. It's so good! The atmosphere here is amazing! I came for the lunch special and had the hamburguesa. It was pretty good, I could only eat half and took the rest home. My friends had the tajin con cordero y verduras and chipirones guisados. They really loved it! I ate at La Pescarderia on Tuesday, July 16th for lunch. A few hours later I realized I had food poisoning and was sick for about 24 hours. The meal was shared with friend and he did not get ill. Worst of all, it was the wrong order and the food wasn't even prepared well. The waiters seem to have no idea how to do their job. We sat for 10 minutes outside waiting to be greeted. Every time we made contact she would just kind of turn away like she didn't see us. WTF I had to go inside to tell the bartender/male waiter I wanted to eat. Even then this guy was not helpful at all. WTF again After getting the menu, we order... And 10 minutes later the guy waiter comes out to ask us what we ordered again. Bad sign. And he ended up screwing our order up. Thanks for making me wait an hour. So we had 1. Asparagus onion - asparagus was like chewing straw. They didn't even cut the ends off. Onion wasn't cooked properly. Portion was small for 7 euros. Not worth it 2. Pork kebab with yogurt - came with a Greek salad which was questionable and surprising since the menu never mentioned it. It's supposed to be an entree of meat and yogurt. At least mention the salad so I don't double up on the vegetable dishes. The tortilla the pork came with was crispy and delicious. Other than that, meat was cold. Salad was basic. It was supposed to be a freakin pork Kebab. 3. They forgot our squid and side padron peppers Overall pretty disappointed with the service and quality of food with this place. 1. Didn't service in a timely manner 2. Poorly prepared food 3. Lack of attention and mistake on order Would give this place one more try, but if I were to experience something similar like this, I would pretty much boycott this place. Amazing food! The food, drinks and staff are great. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the atmosphere!

Good food, but not quite worth the prices. We were a big group for dinner. Atmosphere and look is great, it's a very pretty place! We got a recommendation from the waiter. The starters/tapas were fantastic. The mains, however, were not great. Out of a group of 16, my Salmon Tartar was the only good dish, the others all had very cold and unimpressive meat dish or the hake, which was basically boring fish&chips. It was a real disappointment compared to the tapas. In the end we each had an aperitif, two tapas dishes each, a main and two glasses of wine and paid 70EUR. Which for Madrid isnt great value actually. We did get a free bottle of liquor in the end, but - I kid you not - two of us got an actual red rash in the face from drinking one shot. Overall... would maybe go back for a few beers, a coffee or some tapas, but not a proper dining night. read more

Absolutely fabulous. Make a reservation if you can. We did and when we arrived the place was absolutely packed. It is full of trendy people and music that's almost too loud, so at first was a bit intimidating. Once we checked in for our reservation, it was going to be a few minutes until our table was ready so the manager showed us to a bar next door that they own so we could enjoy some drinks until our table was ready. When our table was ready he came over to get us at the bar and walked us next door to our table which was a private room for 4. It was very comfortable and the noise level was a little lower in the room. Our server was very nice and took great care of us. The food! Oh my goodness. The standout dishes for me were the asparagus, the artichokes, and Argentinian grill plate. Everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic and when we got our bill, it was much lower than we expected. Definitely a winner! read more

My wife and daughter went to this place with me, and we loved it. The food was amazing. This night we were jet lagged, and it was a Monday. It was midnight and we were hungry and bored. We found this on the corner and not many people were there. Our waitress Lorrena ( I think that's how you spell it) was friendly and at the end we asked for other good restaurants in the area and she happily obliged. We ordered mussels which were good and for some reason came with chips. The chips actually tasted good with the mussels and the sauce. We got chicken with avocado, sesame seed, and mango. It was amazing and that was easily the best dish we tasted in Madrid. We also got a pumpkin salad with goat cheese and mangoes. I normally don't like pumpkin, but it tasted amazing. The goat cheese was caramelized, so it was super good. For desert we had a chocolate banana cake. The bananas were literally baked in to the cake, and I loved it. My wife got a glass of Rioja. Overall, it was a wonderful place, and I would recommend it to anybody with tastebuds. If you do go make sure to go on a Monday-Wednesday. It's easier to go late at night if u are jet lagged too. read more
