The food was amazing! The prawns with avocado and mango are a must. The outside sitting area is lovely, we enjoyed our meal out there.

We are spoiled with NYC food scene so judging restaurants in a different country is always hard. That being said, food at this place was awesome. Every single item we tried was on point. However, service was just okay. I would definitely go back though if I ever return to Madrid.

We made reservations (yes, fairly ness here in Madrid if you want to ensure seating at popular spots during meal times lunch or dinner). This was a more modern Spanish tapas place compared to other places we tried in Spain, but also very well done and delicious. You are greeted at the front with a nice bar, and the restaurant is "L" shaped. We sat in the back near the open window looking into the kitchen, which I enjoyed. I started my meal with a pisco sour, which was excellent. We ordered 10-12 dishes for 6 people and certainly overordered. There was lot of left over food and we were all stuffed. I think 6-8 dishes would be fine for moderate eaters for a party of 6. The waiter knew a decent amount of English and we get thru ordering off the English menu without much trouble. My favorite dishes were the roasted chicken, shrimp "scampi", octopus was a must order, and the tomato salad. As is customary in Spain, you pay per bottle of water at the table (1 liter given at a time usually into small tumblers), and there is a non optional "bread" fee that ranges 2-3 euro per person thats sorta of like a tax here in Madrid. Tax and water per person is usually already around $5 just FYI, before even considering cost of food. I would certainly return here to eat again.

This was one of my favorite spots to go while visiting Madrid. It was down the street from our home so it was the prefect place to go have a bite and a drink. My boyfriend and I ordered a bottle of wine and the cheese/meat plate. I can't remember the name of the wine but it was very delicious. They bring the wine out in a silver vase. The cheese plate was just amazing everything on there from the cheese to the bread was Delicious. I wish the would have put more bread, that's how good it was. This place can get very busy so you'll probably have to wait a few minutes. They do have a bar area as soon as you walk in and can order a beer and just hangout. The restaurant is pretty big, I believe they even have a outside area. Each part of the restaurant is set up a little different making you want to come back and try sitting in a new spot each time you come. Everyone was very nice from the moment we walked in. I cant wait to come back and visit. Hasta la próxima vez.

We headed in the city of MADRID into a place for just getting some good food and found it with La Pescadería- the nice tapas Bar has a very cool style and very good service. The food and wine was delicious, as expected from the yelp ratings- a very good place for a relaxed dinner with good tapas and wine!

Man, I want to give this place five stars so badly, but it took them forever to seat us. We were aware that it could take a while to get a table because it was a Friday night. However, the servers kept telling us "so-and-so will help you" until they forgot about us, and I had to insert myself. Someone finally did seat us--albeit outside--and it was chilly for May. It's disappointing that I had to write this review, because the food was incredible. We shared a few cuts of steak, croquettes, and salmon--all of which were 4+ star quality. Nevertheless, my parents felt like the servers willingly ignored them because they weren't stereotypically "trendy." I would go back again, but I'm admittedly hesitant.

attention to detail. one of the best salads I've had in a long time. Perfectly dressed.

Recently, food has been a matter of being good or bad; I haven't had the proclivity to really taste the dishes and intellectualize the experience. Everything changed when the grilled shrimp dish came. It had me teasing out all of the complex flavors: sesame seeds, the slightly citrusy sweet, the salty from the shrimp, and definitely a hint of olive oil. The more I ate, the more it confused me, and the more desperate I grew to know how they created this masterpiece. When I finished the shrimp, I couldn't help but use the dark brown bread to polish off the remaining sauce on the plate, and just as I was about to break the porcelain plate into pieces to eat the dish itself, the waiter put another one on the table. Confused, I said, "oh, I already got mine," but just as soon as the words left my mouth I instantly cursed my tongue for it's own sake. I'd have gladly tasted a second dish of it. The environment is very casual, many people coming in just for drinks and tapas, but it's also totally unique. I won't go into too much detail, but it has character. If I had to put a phrase to it, it would be something like "refined grunge." I will say though that even though the waitstaff was incredibly friendly to english speakers, it was--as it is at many places in madrid--tough to get the bill. It felt like they didn't want me to pay even though I by myself occupied a table for 4 \-: This place definitely stands out among the seemingly infinite number of tapas/casual/loungy hangouts in Madrid.

Great food and service! Lots of people - need to make reservation. One of the best Spanish bars.

Came with delicious warm bread and butter, tempura prawns, dumplings, egg rolls, salmon tartare and crab rangoons. Everything was delicious. I also ordered the burrata. I was blown away by each and every dish. As far as drinks, this restaurant has the most unique and delicious cocktail. I tried the Sayonara Baby, No me llames muñeca, Taparrabos de Adan y Eva, Al Agua Patos, Love Potion, and Maracas de Machin. All of the drinks were delicious, refreshing and insanely cute. You could easily tell there was a lot of care and details put into each drink. If you cannot tell by this review, the food is beyond delicious. This was just a few minutes of walking distance from our Sonder suite. After shopping for 6 hours, we were famished. We walked in around 7:30pm. They were kind enough to turn on the lights up for us in the dining room and seat us (dinner usually starts at 8-10pm in Spain). Let me just say that service was a class act from start to finish. Here is what we ordered: My son: I am going to have the Cod Tripe. What are you ordering, mom? Me: the Oxtail Traditional My son: Oooh, I will have some of yours too. Me: of course you are. My son: you can have one of my tripe. Please know that most places will ask if you want bread. They will charge you for it. My son used the bread to soak up the Cod Tripe Soup. I loved the chickpeas and I am happy my son got to have tripe before leaving Spain. It was on his bucket list of things to eat here. Our waiter came by with complimentary gazpacho and omg, what a delightful treat. It was perfect on a hot summer day. It had bits of potatoes and pears. I wanted a whole bowl. I think this place is a hidden gem!! Surprised that there are not more reviews. The food was absolutely delicious. It had that homemade touch! Don't forget to order dessert. We got the Pineapple Presented in 3 Textures. It had coconut milk and sago on one side and cinnamon crumbles on the other. The pineapple had sprinkles of salt. The flavor profiles tickled my tongue. Perfect on this 88 degree day. Truly worth a visit!

Hello my friends, I…read moreknow it has been quite some time, but I'm coming at you with a Dan Hanis certified all-time great restaurant right here. Absolutely everything on this menu is delightful. I don't think you can go wrong anywhere. As I began my journey abroad, I roamed the streets of Madrid, and I happened to run into 4 lovely ladies. Catalina, Teresa, Alejandra, and the craziest of them all, my girlfriend Elizabeth! Elizabeth and I hadn't talked for a couple weeks since I left the family farming business. She was infuriated when she received the news that I was walking away from my destiny. She just didn't know if she could love someone who wasn't a farmer anymore. As I took a break from my cellular device, we hadn't talked since I left. Running into her in Spain was quite the surprise. She told me that I was just truly the greatest man in the world and that she would love me farmer or not. On her quest to find me, she became friends with these lovely ladies. To celebrate life we decided to have a lavish meal at Bar Tomate! Enough with the backstory, this restaurant is one of my favorites I've been to in the continent that is Europe. Sometimes it can get messy having a diverse menu, but Bar Tomate handles it with such class. To begin the night, I ordered a delicious Whiskey Sour (it reminded me of the beautiful fields of grain back in my homeland of the USA!). For my appetizer I ordered the ceviche which was absolutely mouthwatering. Every time I think of it, I immediately start to drool, so I try to limit myself from thinking of this incredible dish. The fish, onion, and avocado are just so well balanced with the acidic taste of the juice (I love juice). This dish makes it into the Dan Hanis Dish Hall of Fame. I cannot recommend this enough. For my entree, I ordered the chicken tikka masala. By no means was it the best I've ever had, but it was a delicious eat nonetheless. For dessert, after we'd been at the restaurant eating and drinking for a total of four hours, we ordered the brownie sundae. Bar Tomate had such a wonderful atmosphere, and the employees were in no rush to get us out of the door. To this day, Bar Tomate, gave me one of my favorite dining experiences, and I'll forever be grateful to them for it. It was wonderful to eat amazing food and make new friends. I can't wait to tell you about the rest of my journey across Europe. God Bless America and God Bless Food! Your glorious food king, Dan Hanis
