Of course we played it there, bar, tables, casual, family outing...haven't returned in a couple years except to valet park and go on the Tiki Taxi. Thankfully, a friend of mine, also a local, recently visited. She waxed about the food, she's not shy. I listened cautiously, predisposed by my historical remembrances. The mention of new ownership caught my attention. We tried it for Happy Hour. Very nice menus. A hundred twenty dollars later we were indeed very happy. Hidden on a tiny road that runs amongst condos and nothing else, Tidehouse at first would seem like an afterthought for the condo association. But, don't let that first impression fool you. THE AMBIANCE: Once you climb the stairs (yes they have an outdoor elevator), you'll enter a wide expanse of the St Lucie River with hundreds of boats at dock. The view is simply stunning. You can choose to sit inside (why you'd make this choice is beyond me), or if you like music, choose the active fun loving crowd on the patio bar or dine dockside where you'll have an expansive view of the river. We chose the latter. Either way, this is an experience dining unlike any other in the Stuart area. THE SERVICE: We were served by Anna. With a smile and a an enthusiasm that showed she loved her job, she explained a bit of the history of the restaurant and gave a thorough overview of the offerings. Anna was a servers server who knew when to stop by without being intrusive, when to fill our glasses and when to be there when we needed her. I'm not sure if all the serving staff are as good as Anna but, If you're lucky enough to get one of her tables count your blessings. Even the buss boys served with a smile and efficiency that you don't often see. On one occasion one of our party spilled catchup and asked for an additional napkin. The buss boy didn't go and tell the server (which is the norm) but instead "immediately" returned with a napkin and cleaned the spill himself. In today's "I hate my job" world, it was so nice to experience a time when staff served with a smile that conveyed "I love my job"! THE FOOD: For our appetiser, we chose to share a bowl of their Maryland Crab Soup. The menu states "Tomato broth, vegetables, crab meat". Doesn't sound like much, right? But, don't let that simple description fool you, this slightly spicy soup was a delicious meal in itself. I highly recommend you share a bowl if you intend to leave room for an entree. For our entrees, my lovely bride chose to start with the Tide Chopped Salad which features fresh greens, tomato, cucumber, bell pepper, radish, and avocado, graced with an outstanding sherry vinaigrette. From there she chose the Steak and Shrimp combo which featured a 10oz NY Strip & 3 jumbo fried shrimp. She added the garlic mashed potatoes. Her mashed potatoes were scrumptious and her jumbo shrimp combined a crispy breadcrumb topping complimenting the juicy shrimp within. Tough and a bit grizzly, unfortunately, the steak was the outlier to the rest of the dish. I chose the Steak & Cake combo with coconut rice and macaroni and cheese sides. Because they're usually bread cakes with a few pieces of crab hidden throughout, I'm not usually a crab cake lover but, Anna Banana (her suggestion of a name) convinced me that, because the new owner came from Maryland and brought with him his family crab cake recipe, I needed to "experience" the best crab cake I'll ever have, and so, I took the plunge. Sadly, my steak was just as poor a cut of beef as my wife's but those crab cakes... oh those crab cakes were everything Anna Banana said, and than some! I've never had a crab cake that came close! The crab cakes come with a mustard base dipping sauce but, believe me, you'll not want to mar the perfection by dipping. My sides were also great. The coconut rice was not overpowering with just a hint of coconut as an aftertaste and my macaroni & cheese (which I don't usually order unless I have kids with me) was creamy and cheesy. For dessert, we decided to try the Key Lime pie. Not sure about the rest of the desserts but the Key Lime pie was a definite winner with just the right tartness resting on a tasty graham cracker crust (as a true Key Lime pie should have) and a wonderfully creamy texture. THE BOTTOM LINE: As with all my reviews the "customer so what" is would I come back? Even though I'd stay away from the steaks, you bet I'd come back! I would ask for the deck dining room, be seated in Anna "Bananas" serving area and make sure I included those out of this world crab cakes in my meal! read more

It's easy to assume the weekend is even busier especially being by the water. Oh complimentary valet is available. The vibe was pretty good. We sat on the covered deck. Ok on to the best part; the food! It was fresh and completely amazing. We started with coconut shrimp (I was so excited to try it I forgot to snap a pic). As locals, we "mix-it-up", although we have our favorite places for culinary adventures. The Tide house has always been an outlier. On today's lunch trip - well, they remain an "outlier". The good: great service, we were quickly seated and attended to. The mini crab cakes may have been the best I've had in town. The cakes were nearly all crab, very little filler. Delectable! We should have stopped there! The bad: my wife's 1/2 rack of ribs arrived cold - when they finally returned warmed up- the ode'de'refrigerator flavor was so strong the too-sweet BQ sauce was no match for it. I ordered the seared ahi tuna appetizer- - 5 small, grey strips of previously frozen fish arrived- generously spread across the plate in an attempt to consume the real estate that was intended for a full order. Just recently visited Tide House in Stuart, Florida. The ambiance and elevated views overlooking the marina and the Causeway are truly outstanding -- absolutely beautiful and one of the restaurant's strongest assets. I've dined here previously and had a great experience, so I'm offering this visit with a spirit of fairness and understanding. We arrived right at 5:00 PM and were aware this was during a shift change. That said, it took quite some time to be seated, and once at our table we waited close to 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. A waitress eventually stopped by, kindly explaining that we were not in her section but that she would either find our server or take care of us herself. She returned shortly after and took our drink order. It took another 10 minutes or so for our drinks to arrive. We ordered Cadillac margaritas and then placed an appetizer order of chicken wings. The wings, although on the smaller side, were absolutely wonderful -- super crispy, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the evening. For entrées, we ordered a flatbread and the ribs with a crab cake, which our waitress mentioned was one of their most popular dishes. There was a fairly long wait for the food, during which we ordered a second round of drinks. When the entrées arrived, unfortunately the ribs and sweet potato fries were cold, and the flatbread was barely cooked. That said, the crab cake itself was excellent -- big chunks of fresh crab, well-seasoned, and genuinely delicious. I'm very particular about crab cakes (I've been making Robert Duvall's recipe religiously for nearly 20 years), so when I say this one was good, I truly mean it. We sent the ribs back, and to her credit, our waitress promptly brought out a fresh order. At that point, we decided to simply take the flatbread home. Where the experience truly unraveled was at the check. Upon reviewing the bill, we noticed we had been charged $32 for a Cadillac margarita. We politely asked about this, and the waitress escalated the concern to the bar manager. He explained that they charge an additional $13 for a shot of Grand Marnier floated on top and offered to remove only $2 from the drink. I expressed that a $30+ margarita -- especially one made with bottled lime juice -- is not reasonable. The standard margarita price on the menu is around $13. After a second conversation, the drink was finally adjusted, but still rang in at $19. Our waitress genuinely did her best and appeared quite overwhelmed. I do not fault her. The breakdown here was clearly on the management side -- from floor oversight during shift change, to food quality control, to how the pricing issue was handled. I normally do not leave negative reviews. I believe everyone can have an off day. However, this experience should have been managed much better, particularly given the caliber of location and price point Tide House aims to represent. With stronger leadership presence and better communication, this could easily return to being the excellent dining experience I've had here in the past. read more

Not the same. Came by boat mid afternoon on a Sunday. Wife was greeted by 'do you have a reservation' (for 2 pm??) She said no and was told 'not to seat anyone wo a reservation'. For reference we wanted to sit on the deck and 80% empty tables (inside was mid full ish). Ok, they seated us on the patio. First, DJ was terrible. Nice guy but kept changing the song every 30 seconds..no transition, just transitioning, and then do 5 word voice overs. Cal me old, hah, but i legit wanted to walk out for this reason. Watier said new ownership, so things changed. My wife was hard core craving the tuna poke nachos which we thought were best in the area. They no longer have now yet they have something similar which is higher priced, and smaller. And no happy hour like they used to. 50$ for 12 weeks (we didn't love the sauce, bit gloppy) and one soda (4.50) and the above app. I love the location, the scenery..but unless things change a bit it's not gonna be our go to by boat place, sad to say read more

This is a 3 [aka a mixed review] for several reasons. The food, I didn't even get a picture of because it was delicious, and I was hungry and forgot to take a picture until it was too late. I had two apps as my meal -- the poke wonton nachos (amazing) and the sesame tuna (amazing). Together these were the perfect amount of food for me. The drinks, I had a skinny margarita (hold your jokes) which was delicious, and then I had a PB&J old fashioned, which was... not something I'd get again (I should've known from looking at the ingredients it would be a bit sweet and really just taste like an elongated skrewball shot) It's of no fault of the business, but as someone who is a fan of mixology, I'm not sure I would've invented this but I'm sure some people like it. I wish I'd gotten the CuTini instead to be honest. The view is really nice too, and the place has great indoor and outdoor options with a long and large bar area. Now the reason this is a mediocre review is because of all the other factors. While they did do a tremendous job seating us as a large group, I can't help be be disappointed in a couple elements that are all management related, and none service related. The servers were actually great in doing the best they could with what they had to work with, and large groups are always annoying (I didn't even like being in the group to be honest) but they handled it like champs. Here's the thing, if you look at the Specials sign, I think a logical person might interpret the drinks listed DIRECTLY ABOVE HAPPY HOUR to be part of the Happy Hour specials! Nope. Apparently none of these are part of the list. I mean this is just a deceitful approach. Maybe it's by accident, but it's a common sense thing in my opinion. Don't put Happy Hour on the same sign as a bunch of drinks that aren't part of Happy Hour. Even if you need to rely on servers to inform what is included or isn't (which should've been mentioned at some point) you're only setting yourself up for possible frustration when the bill comes rather than getting out in front of it. The biggest issue however, was this was on Mother's Day, when you know for a fact there's going to be a LOT of people around going out to eat that weekend. They were missing half the items that our group was looking to get. They just kept coming back saying we don't have this, we don't have that, we don't have this either. One item we were informed wasn't available around 5 minutes before the food came out (which makes me question... how did it take 40 minutes to realize the thing you were making 30 minutes ago was not in stock?) Also for management, how are you not adequately stocking for this type of weekend? If it's a new business, they may not know ebs and flows but established places should be able to pretty easily anticipate how much food they need to have. And if they really don't have a bunch of stuff, again, rather than waiting for people to order and then disappoint them, just get out in front of it... read more

Firs, there was nothing flat about it, dough was too thick and not cooked all the way. You had to search for the mushrooms and the amount of cheese was overwhelming. After visiting the TideHouse 3 times with other couples and enjoyed the food and view of the Marina, I was a bit disappointed this last time. I ordered a simple crabcake sandwich that was mediocre. It wasn't bad, but I've had better. The service was adequate although a bit slow. What really got us quite angry was when we ordered a slice of apple pie for dessert. Again, it tasted fine. However, when we received the bill and saw a price of $14 for the apple pie, we were appalled. The TideHouse is not a restaurant that is in Manhattan, it's in Stuart, Florida. Finding a good weekend happy hour is always nice, but on the water, is icing on the cake. A group of us swung in Saturday afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right off. (I am sure it is not like during season). They offer happy hour throughout the restaurant, (which I believe has changed since they first opened). After ordering some great $8 happy hour specialty cocktails, we ordered an abundance of appetizers that we all raved about (at 25% off). I believe we ended up ordering 3 extra orders of the deviled eggs and the same of the keg tots, after our original order! So at first I was stoked about the tots, because who doesn't love a good tater tot, then when they arrived I was bothered by the amount of tots in the order...but let me tell you, after the first bite, that next order was placed. We legit could not keep them on the table. So soft, flavorful and just delicious. We also enjoyed the giant pretzel, calamari, fish dip and hummus, which were all very good, but not as much of a crowd pleaser as the tots and eggs. We all did expect the chips that came with the hummus and fish dip to be warm, which I think might be a neat idea to through out there! Also, the calamari needs more praise, they were perfectly cooked and the sauce was to die for, I do wish it was a bigger portion. So overall, everything was great and I will surely be back, my only negative thoughts were the distance the bathrooms were for many of the tables (making it hard for seniors and kiddos running to wash their hands) and personalized drinks, like a double titos and soda, not having anything to do with happy hour and costing $20 per drink. read more

My cousin and I went for lunch. She wanted to eat near the water. I suggested the tide house. I had been there before. We were seated in their outdoor enclosed patio. The view was great. The sever came immediately and took our drink orders. Since we like appetizers rather than full meals we decided to split them. We ordered crispy calamari, crispy coconut shrimp the beet salad. After a few minutes the server came back and told us the chef did not like the way the calamari looked. She asked if we wanted to order something else. We told her we will decide after we have the other two. Much to our surprise she brought the calamari with the other two appetizers. She told us the chef found some good ones. The calamari was crispy and very good. The coconut shrimp was delicious. We were contemplating ordering another but decided to wait. The beet salad was full of beets and nuts and it had plenty of greens. It was big enough to split.The dressing was flavorful and delicious. The server came back after we were almost finished eating to see if we wanted anything else. We thought about ordering more shrimp but decided against it since we were getting full. They have a great menu. I had the clam chowder when I was there before and I was delicious. My cousin loved the place and said she'd definitely go back. We had reservations at Tidehouse and were really looking forward to our evening. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. When we arrived, we were first told that they were not taking reservations--despite the fact that we had one. A few minutes later, another staff member came out and said they had "no gas" and therefore couldn't serve anyone. On one of the busiest nights of the year, it's hard to understand how a restaurant isn't prepared for basic operations. The inconsistent explanations and lack of organization were frustrating and unprofessional. We made plans, arranged our evening around this reservation, and left feeling inconvenienced and disappointed. Sadly, Tidehouse won't be seeing us again. read more

All around a pretty disappointing evening. Will not frequent again and do not recommend. Restaurant is out of the way and provides very little parking, though there is complimentary valet (with the moral obligation to tip, so it's not exactly complimentary). Was not greeted upon entry and had to scour the restaurant to find the rest of our party on our own. The restaurant was loud and it was difficult to hear our server, Travis. The wings were admittedly excellent, but the ribs were burned on bottom and too dry. Was there for the lobster special but told there was none left. The table next to ours arrived at least 20 minutes later and ordered lobster, which they received. When brought to the attention of Bob, the manager, he explained the kitchen had informed him they were out but somehow they found one more over 20 minutes later and the server at the neighboring table hadn't been informed when everyone else had been. Bob shrugged and uttered a sorry over his shoulder as he walked away. He avoided our table the rest of the evening even though he made a point to stop at all the other tables in the vicinity. We were greeted with a huge smile by the host and escorted to our patio table overlooking the water. We were informed that Bernie would be our server and we could not have been a better server. Bernie was on top of customer service and handled our special request in a positive personality. The view was precious and the food was delicious. The drinks were with the Merlot, old fashioned, and the skinny margarita. They fit our expectation perfectly. I requested a wine that most recently been opened and that request was handled with the wine brought to our table to be examined. The fish Reuben was the perfect order for the day. We stopped in for a nice dinner with a view on a Saturday night, and were more than impressed! The parking lot was packed, and as I was thinking I'd have to make a second circle to find a spot we noticed the valet - completely complementary! After dinner, the staff were quick to fetch my car as well... zero headache about parking, and zero wait! But enough about after dinner... I tend to expect to wait for a table on a Saturday night, so when we walked in and were taken straight to our seats on the patio with a gorgeous view of the marina, I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was with us quickly (if I could remember her name to shout her out directly, I would!), and checked in with us regularly without being overbearing. The alfredo flatbread sounded great, but I don't care for shrimp -- they happily put chicken on instead for me, and it was excellent! My husband loved his Philly cheesesteak flatbread. Stopped in for dinner on the deck and had a great time! The deck is first come first serve (FYI). They had a small band playing, which had some nice ambience. We also had a great view of the Mariana! The food was great, too! We started with the loaded tots as an appetizer and they were so good! I had the Cajun chicken Alfredo pasta dish and I thought it was very very good but maybe a little small for the price. I finished my meal (which is a good sign), but I never do that. Only negatives were the service and the cocktails. Our waitress was super nice but we had to ask for silverware twice and I had to ask for a water 3 times before she remembered. Our section wasn't busy at the time either. The drinks weren't great either - for example I had the hurricane drink, and I typically love a sugar rush, but I thought it was terrible. Overly sugary and cheap tasting. I would recommend this spot for a casual drink, or lunch but it might be a little too casual for dinner. Where do I begin. Mother's Day dinner. 1st I reserved a 5:30pm table for 6 for outside dining and was seated deep inside the restaurant at a corner. The hostess claimed when reservations were made the system chooses where guests are seated. I reserved by phone with a staff member a week ago. 2nd When we were seated we had 4 packs of silverware in which the waiter said they had run out of silverware and went to get more. No water, bread, zip. 3rd We requested Sweet Tea and Lemonades which tasted like dishwater. Every drink he replaced tasted worse and worse and he didn't even try to offer anything else. 4th Orders. No Mother's Day special Menu. We ordered the Calamari and Pretzel for appetizers which were ok. But then came the entrees. My son tried to order the Cajun Chicken Pasta - No pasta available tonight. He tried to order the Flatbread Pizza - No Flatbreads available tonight. He settled for the Tuna bowl which was ok. I ordered the Fish Tacos (Dry, flavorless piece of fish in a taco on top of cole slaw) with Fries. Fries - Not too bad. Hubby ordered Steak & Shrimp. He needed to add steak sauce to be able to eat it. Kids ordered Cheeseburgers with fries. Again - no seasoning/flavor. Sister ordered Beet salad with Salmon. I'm pretty sure by now you know what I'm going to say about it. I am an order a dessert after dinner person and skipped on it. Not good. For the money that we spent there it was 10000% not worth it. We would've eaten better at a Chilis or even Golden Corral and saved on money. We were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED and will not be returning again. Sure the view is nice but so not worth it. When we arrived we came 30 minutes after opening and the vibe was already good and everyone was friendly. Our server Kara was so accommodating and helpful because we originally sat outside in the enclosed space but there was a baby shower so it quickly became loud and crowded. We asked to move to the outside space with the umbrellas and immediately we were greeted with live music and it really set the tone for a tropical paradise. Kara showed no sign of annoyance and allowed us to choose our seat which we greatly appreciated. The food is absolutely delicious!! (We forgot to take a picture of our calamari appetizer but it was good too). I know that everything we ordered was fail proof and we ordered soon after opening so take that into consideration. Our bill came out to $75 (not including tip) sooo a little pricey but the ambiance, Kara and the food quality made it worth it- plus money wasn't an issue for us as we were on vacation. read more

First time at the restaurant. Beautiful view. Food was good. I ordered a half order of ribs and it came out as a full order. Waitress said I bet your husband will eat some. Charged me for the full amount. Had I not been with a group of people, I would have said more. Very uncomfortable situation. read more
