Fiancé and I were enjoying our stroll and made our way to Trastevere~ him loving seafood, we came across this Bistro overlooking the river with the sweetest staff Cod Bites - we are definitely carnivores so we try to order some seafood whenever possible...and wow! These were delicious, so flavorful and ingredients were so fresh, perfectly seasoned and salted too We definitely could've shared an entrée but o well haha Fiancé enjoyed his seafood pasta and the Lamb with potato entrée was plenty for me -- I got enough sodium intake for the day haha But you can't skip dessert!!! To the best of my knowledge there are only two restaurants on Rome's only island in the middle of the Tiber river. One is impossible to get into without a reservation. The other is Tiberino, to which I'll return again and again. My table seemed to be surrounded by local Italian families out enjoying their Saturday. The staff the friendliest I've seen. Absurdly good. I cant even believe it. Cod was a special and was 10/10 paired that with the house white which was just so savory and crisp. Ended with a triamasu and was treated like royalty by the staff. Unreal. When we ate we had the most amazing atmosphere, the church nearby played an orchestra to accompany our meal. Wow. After roaming the island we stopped here to enjoy some pre dinner wine and snacks. The coloring placemat was a winner. It really calmed me as it had been a rough day. We had a great bottle of wine (last one shown on screen shot of menu) that i really hope I can find before I leave. The sundried tomato and mozzarella were fab. Tiberino is an small lovely restaurant on an island in the middle of the Tiber river passing through Rome. We walked in spontaneously and was very happy with our visit. My guests and I all ordered pasta dishes that were 'al denate' and were delicious. The service was not particularly slow or fast. Meals cost between 10-20 euro. All the staff were very professional and represented the establishment well. Bathrooms are on the second floor, the sink has a pump to produce water. Attached to the restaurant is a gelato shop. There were plenty of options for people lactose intolerant. The server was able to communicate accurately in English and ask if the milk allergy was an "allergy" or an "intolerance." I would highly recommend this establishment. read more

This little gem is tucked away on an island surrounded by the Tiber river. We crossed a stone bridge to see the watercolor painters and violinists performing there; we then stumbled upon this restaurant. It has a gelato and cafe in the front, while the back is the rest of the restaurant. It is a lovely place to visit for lunch; they have a patio that faces the Tiber. It was quite cold the day we went, so we sat inside which was equally as nice. The restaurant interior was really peaceful, sunny, and airy with windows that face the river. My friends and I ordered the ravioli and carbonara. The ravioli was warm and lovely. They were filled with Parmesan (more grated parmesan on the table if you'd like extra!) and plated with a fresh basil and tomato sauce. The carbonara was super creamy and al dente while the pancetta was perfectly crispy. It was one of the best meals I had in Rome. Definitely recommend if you want an easy-going sit down lunch, provided that you aren't in a rush to get to the Colosseum (nearby!) or the next item on your itinerary. read more

Located right between the two bridges across Isola Tibera, this tiny gelato shop "should" be a total tourist trap. It's just blocks from the Colosseum and the Forum. Nope! The line of locals here clued us in. The gelato is made on premise, with real quality ingredients. The price is reasonable at €2 for a medium with crema. I had a pistachio/ hazelnut combo - simply delicious! My partners in crime had a plain crema flavor, which was "ok" and a cafe which tasted exactly like a frozen espresso shot. For me, it was too bitter but if you love coffee you'll love this. I've had a lot of shitty gelato, both in Rome and at home. This is not shitty gelato, it's not overpriced and you should definitely make this place a stop. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. As my friend and I were wandering across the river, we started craving gelato and decided to try this place out. Having been disappointed with previous poser gelato... I was really excited to actually get some real gelato in this place. I believe prices were about 2.50 euros for a small, 3.50 euros for a medium. Since this was my first try, I decided to give the cream flavor a go since I was feeling like some basic gelato. Gelato was extremely creamy, though the cream flavor itself was not very distinct as compared to other gelato places that I ended up going to throughout Italy. However, given the cheap price and the fact that it's serving actual gelato, it was quite worth it! I think it's too easy for gelato places in Italy to serve ice cream that gets passed off as gelato to tourists--this place is at least the real deal! tldr; solid gelato, don't go out of your way for it, but pretty good read more

We had the pasta amatriciana and an omlette with ham and spinach. Everything was outstanding. They have a gelato store right next door and it was some of the best gelato I have eaten.. In an otherwise bustling and heavy traffic area, as you walk over the Tiber, admiring stone bridges old and not so old, in the river is Isola Tiberna. There, you can escape the noise and footweariness by ducking into the Tiberino, an exceptionally friendly restaurant, where, lo and behold, there is a miraculously quiet and sunny (or covered) patio in the tiny Piazza di Bartolomo All'Isola. So nice! Simon, age thirteen, had "the best burger in my life" and figures it's all downhill from here, burger-wise, so what' s the point of living? (Answer: Italian girls, but you will need clothes). His burger came with a generous side of hand-made chips (not fries, crisps) and a small lawn of salad greens dressed with olive oil and sea salt. I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in front of yet another ancient church (sorry) with a local red Snobs can have their snobby wine, mine was "buttery" and fine. My ravioli was approximately as good as anyone can make and present ravioli stuffed with Parmesan in a simple fresh basil and fresh tomato sauce. I think we drank three bottles of water, it was that kind of a morning. We came in sad and weary and went out happy and refreshed and thought the bill was a bargain. Waddaya want? Watch out for the microscopic limonada for €3.50 ... but it is to quibble. Go there, be there: an oasis in the middle of a river. read more
