Great cafeteria to stop for dessert and espresso. Customer service was very friendly. The extent of my Italian is 4 words but staff made every effort to communicate, be personable and accommodating. The tiramisu was authentic (fresh out of the pan) and delicious. My Doppio was strong and made to perfection. There is plenty is seating both indoors & out. A semi-full bar serving everything from cognac to rum. They have candy for kiddo's and smokes for adults. While the service is nice and the pasta was great there are many negatives that made my visit to this restaurant an unpleasant one. First of all the patio looked like a nice idea at first but as soon as we sat down the traffic just became unreadable. The dinner was loud, dusty and fume filled. The pizza here was the worst I had during my trip to Italy and by a longshot. Do not get the four cheese pizza. The pasta was fairly decent. The worst part of it all was the price. Pizza, pasta and two wines for $60 is steep even for touristy prices in Rome. Typically this meal should have been running closer to $45 and so with the bad pizza and loud street, it was a bad dinner option. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know. read more

They do have good americano and espresso. But, I mean it's Roma, you can just get good coffee anywhere. It comes down to the service. Staff was kinda rude. When I asked what is specialty, he said there is no specialty. I asked what is popular, he said everything. So I gave up and got three small desserts. None of them was good. I took tiny bite and couldn't even finish them. It's my fault of not be able to speak Italian, but other cafes and restaurants are a lot more helpful and friendlier even though I couldn't speak the language. read more

Ran in here for a cookie and a quick pastry stop to tide us over. The storefront looked nice and we thought that it was a decent place. I wasn't impressed with this place and will likely not be back due to taste and quality, even if the prices were 2-3 euros for two pastries. The shop owner was not super warm, but she was nice enough to let us use her bathroom which was a small single, not too clean. read more

The guy behind the counter is straight to the point and has a pretty strong temper, which I found more than entertaining. I was literally laughing throughout the entire breakfast experience. I was incredibly disappointed by the treatment by the woman who works at the cash register. After 5 minutes that I sat down with my coffee she was trying to kick me out, even though there were plenty of open tables, telling me that I needed to buy something else. Then when I went to pay she completely ignored me when I was talking to her, she wouldn't even look at me, and she handed me the bill without saying anything. After traveling across Italy for a week, my love partner and I tried a variety of different Italian dishes. Our last full day in Italy was in Rome, so we knew that it wouldn't be too difficult a task to find a decent place to go. We wanted to go to the Spanish Steps, but not before we were filled up! We came across "Il Pasticciaccio" and before we went in, we decided to look it up on the internet (due to horrible experience outside Vatican which was our fault, we let our hunger think for us and got tourist trapped). The place had an average of 4 stars so we said, "why not?". As you make your way into the building, you are bombarded with a variety of smells from pastries to pasta and a variety of meats. The building is sectioned off to specialize in areas like the pastries and another area for cafe/restaurant atmosphere. The menu contained no English, so that was something that let me know the place was going to be good. I found something on the menu "Hamburger de Mazo" and she ordered a pasta dish. The waiter was very helpful! I knew that in Italy, asking for well-done meat is supposedly unheard of, so I googled "well done meat" on google images and he waiter quickly understood exactly what I was saying and made sure it was cooked to perfection. This is a place that we will definitely be going back to when visiting Rome. Amazing and you should try if you have the chance! read more

We woke up early and came here for breakfast. All the pastries were fresh. Luckily, they spoke a little English. We ordered a pastry with some kind of raspberry jelly and dark yellow sweet frosting. I originally thought that was cheese, but it was not. It tasted okay, just not something I'm used to. The other item was some kind of sandwich with egg and some kind of salami. Just tasted alright. The décor of the place was very nice. As for the pastry and sandwich, they were okay. They didn't taste horrible and when I looked at the pricing for the espresso, it was 0.90 euro. I figured that was reasonably priced because I haven't seen it lower yet. Highest I've seen was 1.50 euro. We didn't get a chance to try their other foods but I have a feeling that this place only looks good but tastes mediocre. read more

I don't understand the complaints that people are talking about. Our party of six came in late on a Friday night having all just flown in to Rome. Every single dish we ordered was fantastic, and the service was lovely. Highly recommend the roasted octopus, the meat and cheese platter, pasta carbonara, seafood pasta, and more. The seats were hard and the music was too loud. The wine and water glasses looked dirty. Our meal started when the waiter breezed past and tossed a paper bag of bread onto our table, and a packet of olive oil. Our son ordered the 'do it yourself salad' and chose olives as one of the three ingredients. But, the kitchen was out of olives (!?), which we learned when the salad was delivered. The kitchen was out of chicken too so they substituted pork in my dish. It was not roasted as stated in the menu but boiled or steamed, limp and in sauce, like you might be served at a school cafeteria. My risotto was awful, undercooked and salty, I had to force myself to eat it. My wife's fettuccine was overcooked and unseasoned with bland mushy mushrooms. Our other son's pizza was barely baked - the cheese had not melted. I'm sorry we went there. maybe the drinks are alright, the food wasn't. We had a lovely outdoor seating. Our host Diego and server Manuel were exceptionally accommodating. We communicated easily, with my very limited Italian, and their English. Food was perfect: Spaghetti with baby squid and taglierini with prawns! Had a wonderful wine to go with it. We stumbled on this place on a Sunday night when not much else in the neighborhood was open for dinner. Mamma mia!! First, the menu was very different from the standard fare at the traditional restaurants in the area. We ordered tempura tuna with an orange sauce as an app and it was great. Two of us had the tuna steak for dinner and it was perfect! Really good. We also had the gnocchi, some salads and the pasta carbonara and all were very good. The lasagna was AMAZINGLY good - we requested the chef to come out so we could offer our praise to him in person. It was not your standard American style lasagna, but very light and just delicious! The service was excellent and as a bonus, they had TVs playing the World Cup final game!! Oh, also a huge selection of yummy desserts. Great find and one of the best meals of our trip. read more
