Wonderful restaurant. Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Nuances of Ancient Rome with flavors as exquisite as Rome itself. Pasta is home made, cooked to the perfect al dente and served with an appropriate sauce, ragu or dressed with olive oil, Parmesan and herbs. Tonight I was served a house specialty: sweet onion stuffed with a mussel, peperoni (spiced salami), bolognese and served with steamed mussels on the side. The bread is fresh and plentiful. Homemade pizzas are a work of art in themselves and taste more so. They serve a great cappuccino, and you can make that part of your Italian or American breakfast. We absolutely adored this breakfast spot. Not far from Roma Termini, the owner was running around by himself trying to serve everyone and was so very kind and (unnecessarily) apologetic - he was clearly spread thin but had such a kind demeanor, and spoke excellent English. He had an "American breakfast" special listed with eggs and bacon, but we decided on the "Italian breakfast" - when in Rome.... The croissant and cappuccino were amongst the best I've ever had. Located near the train station, Living Room is a great place for lunch / dinner off the beaten track. The interior is modern & hip with an open kitchen to watch your dishes be prepared. Pasta is made fresh every day and absolutely delicious. I opted for the strozzapreti (priest stranglers) with swordfish ragu which was magnificent. Came to Rome for the first time. The food and service was terrible. This is our 3rd day in Rome and food here was lack luster. We order gnocchi and tasted like ones we get from Trader Joe's back home. Sirloin was tough and porcini mushrooms that came with the steak was mushy. We ordered sauted vegetables and got chard and super salty inedible spinach. Service was terrible. Waitress was rude and food took an eternity. To top it off bathroom was dirty. I've been very impressed with the public restrooms this far aside from not having any seat covers restroom have been really clean. Not worth trying this place. Food was expensive and they charge for water that was not even bottled. read more

Family favorite restaurant in Rome. We stopped in for breakfast on Valentine's Day and were so impressed that we made a reservation for dinner that evening. Both meals were excellent. Our host, Mario, was so fun and made great recommendations on the menu selection. We were able to watch the chef prepare our food through a large viewing window into the kitchen (so cool!). During our last summer trip to Italy, my boyfriend and I had breakfast here on our last day in Rome. Our server (possibly the owner?) was so friendly and checked on us often to make sure our food came out fine. Then he went above and beyond and gave us a map and planned an entire sightseeing itinerary for us to see all the best things in Rome. We had a wonderful time exploring parts of the city we never would have seen if it wasn't for his kindness and we were very appreciative. And most importantly, food was great! Host- Everything about Mario was friendly. I think he is the owner or one of the owners. Anyways he introduced himself, made conversations, gave recommendations on where to go in Rome. Food- I especially loved the pasta funghi. Not too heavy on the sauce. The English breakfast was very reasonable on the price. The cappuccino was very robust. Atmosphere- Bright and inviting. We sat in a very cozy corner both times during our visit to the restaurant. I love that the guest can see the whole kitchen through the glass. To me, it makes me feel that the restaurant is proud. They also have large seating areas for large groups too. Also they have wifi which was good for tourist. I haven't tried their dinner menu but I'm sure it is delicious. This place was our first to grab a bit in Rome. The place was quite decent and huge inside. The staff was very friend and had us seated nicely plus served us very well. Their breakfast is very reasonably priced; where for 5 euros you get croissant, orange juice and a cappuccino. They also attracted tourist with their free wifi at the restaurant. read more

The food was excellent and service was exceptional. They were very nice and accommodating to our needs and made us feel at home! My wife had the ravioli and I had a pizza, which tasted fresh and was mouthwatering to look at. We also had the Doc mozzarella and Parma ham for an appetizer and it was a lot of good and really fresh and delicious! There wine parings with our food were on point. This restaurant had a nice atmosphere because of all the small rooms. They didn't have a gluten free menu so that was disappointing. Florence seemed to have much more options of GF restaurants than Rome. However, this restaurant had some of the best simple pasta I've ever had. Just cheese and pepper, but I couldn't get over it. Wanted a cappuccino and dessert after a late dinner and stopped by here. It was on the way from our hotel. There's no clear signage of the restaurant name or anything. Walked passed it and had to walked back. Waiter, didn't really care for us really since we're only there for dessert...kinda just passed us on to the barista/cashier. Cappuccino was good. We had a dessert also but I can't remember the name correctly. It was creme custard dessert with chocolate and Nutella on top. Pretty tasty. Had a beer on a Friday evening while in town. The waiters were pretty friendly; coincidentally, our waiter had lived in North Beach in San Francisco for 6 months (where I used to live). They have an awesome buffet - pay a small price for an all-you-can-eat Italian appetizer smorgasbord. Our beers were on the expensive side (5 euros), but I'd expect it in Rome. Not good. All I can say is the manager was really nice and the service was fast, but the food was terrible. I got a Caesar salad and they gave me mayonnaise for dressing. The table also got the bruschetta trio and it was bland, with three tiny pieces of bread. On top of the food, they never told us the credit card machine was broken until they gave us our bill. We had lasagna and hamburger with "cheese". Lasagna was ok, not too great. The hamburger was disgusting. First they didn't ask if English style was ok. So it was quite raw. Second it had a lot of sinews which made it in combination with the raw state really distasteful. Third, it has no burger bun. And the cheese was missing completely. Above all, we saw the cook eat spaghetti (while standing) from a plate that he later served to a customer (who couldn't see it)!!!!! Very clean, wood floors, AC and with a group of 11 even though a smaller establishment were very accomadating. They spoke minimal English so I suggest if you want sunny side up eggs show a picture, I thought we were all on the same page but I somehow ended up with an omelette. We stopped in for breakfast on our way to the train station after a horrible night in a nearby hotel. The service was really friendly and they let me and my partner share the English breakfast for 8€ (he took the croissant and bread, I took the eggs, ham, potatoes, and we shared the tomatoes and mozzarella.) He had juice and I had a latte. Coffee wasn't great, and the food was okay - the tomatoes and mozzarella were the best part. It wasn't bad and it did the job. It seems like this place takes on a different life at night, so it was a bit of a weird place for breakfast. The guy in charge was really nice and helpful and I was able to eat gluten free, so we'll call it a win. read more

I went for a simple breakfast and got the Cazzione omelette. The eggs with mozzarella were fanatic with good fruit (cantaloupe and orange slices) and I switched out the cappuccino for a tea. My boyfriend had a cappuccino and he said it was good. Price was good at 8-10 EUR for breakfasts with a nice little outside seating area. The servers were friendly and made sure all was going smoothly with quick service since I was ruining to catch a train. For a quick, simple stop, I recommend this place. read more
