Another wonderful meal at Thyme. We ate outside at the side garden and we had a great big picnic table for the three of us. All staff were wearing masks and I felt very comfortable eating there and being served. Service was very good and the meal was excellent. I had the seared ali tuna which was cooked perfectly medium rare as I had requested. One friend ordered the seared scallops and shrimp which is what I had eaten the last time I was there and she enjoyed it as much as I did. My other friend had the crab burger and she really enjoyed that. Food is beautifully presented freshly prepared and good excellent quality. finally came here for brunch today since my hubs had off (yay) anyway my eggs benedict the eggs themselves were not the best, but omg everything else. the fries with those dipping sauces, the potato cake the eggs came on, my mimosa. I only wish we had saved room for dessert but we will be back for that! plus it's such a cute night. Don't waste your thyme or your money. Bartenders make lousy $15 drinks. Wine list is uninspired and has pedestrian, highly marked up bottles. Duck tacos app ($14) had great flavor but each of the two had much more fat than actual duck meat. The ratio? 80% fat 20% duck. Calamari lacked seasoning. Salads were good. Short rib Pappardelle ($29) literally contacted 8 short strands of pasta (I counted) and the promised ratatouille was simply six extremely small pieces of zucchini. Complete rip-off. The short ribs were not prepared well and were very stringy. Scallops were overcooked and rubbery. Salmon was dry. Should have ordered the great looking burgers that were brought to another table. Desserts are all $9.50, are insultingly small and were served beyond their prime. One of the desserts actually looked like someone had taken a forkful before it was served to us. I've been to this restaurant many times and the food is always great and the employees are very friendly but I was there a couple of days ago and the service was terrible; the waiter's excuse was that the place was busy but there is no excuse for having us wait twenty minutes and it could have been longer had I not reached out to one of the other waiters for help. It was almost thirty' minutes before we got a piece of bread. Roslyn is a picturesque little town and Thyme is situated right next to the clock tower by the lake. We came here for brunch and everything we ordered was fantastic. The burger with bacon and the sunny side up egg is awesome. I also enjoyed their twist on Eggs Benedict. The egg white omelette was stuffed to the gills with deliciously prepared veggies. Thyme for an update! Winter Restaurant Week '17 1) PEI Mussels: They need to can this broth seriously. I was dipping. Slurping. Chugging. And everything else in between. Mussels are usually just ok but the broth is what elevates the bowl. And a broth we have indeed. Favorite dish 2) Bbq'd Duck tacos: little messy with mangoes and jicama slaw, good crunch but duck didn't wow 3) Lamb Shank (not on reg menu): I love lamb. I appreciated their take on it, quite tomatoey, so I wouldn't order it again 4) Braised Short Rib Papardelle: I'm a sucker for handmade pasta. Beautiful al dente with a great chew. However, the short Rib was really fatty with a buttery tomato sauce and made eating it very indulgent, wish it was a tad lighter, but still a great dish As for desserts, caramel cake was terrible (looks like a flan but weird texture), but the classic chocolate lava cake was decent Thyme is defn one of Roslyn's finest. Really nasty food honestly. I came for brunch on a Sunday. First of all the service was great except for my waiter. He only spoke to the guy I was with. I had to speak up for him to actually talk to ME. What kind of archaic thing is that? Whatever. So I ask for a detail of the crab and corn cake thing and he legit just repeated what was on the menu. I asked if it was good and he said people love it. Idk what people because it was honestly just awful. A soft shell crab but the outer layer tasted like plastic and the corn cake was a tiny little sponge. Nothing had flavor. Not even salt. And a plain salad with no seasoning. I asked him to take it back, and he kindly did. I decided to go with avocado toast because that's usually good right? Wrong. The bread was as hard as croutons. I don't reccommend eating here the food is just bad, overpriced, and overrated. That one server was the only one who was weird. But aside from that strange interaction of mostly talking to my male friend he was polite. Not worth the hype at all. They use big words to make it fancier than it actually is, and nothing of what I ate was even good. I had some of my friend's crab cake sandwich, even that was mediocre. read more

Their weekend brunch is served from 11:30-3:30 for a set price of $22 and includes your choice of: mimosa, bellini, bloody mary, orange juice or grapefruit juice. When arriving we were asked if we had reservations, in which we didn't, so only outdoor seating was available, but it was fine cause it was a nice day. In other instances, reservations are recommended! I got the smoked salmon benedict and my friend got the seared-rare crusted tuna. Both were delicious! The lox was really fresh and the biscuit was soft and moist. The home fries that accompanied the dish were seasoned really well also. The tuna came with about 5 thinly sliced pieces and a side salad. It's cooked on the outside yet has a sashimi-grade center. In addition, we got a side of the parmesean pomme frites, which was a huge portion and well worth it for $6! Match stick fries are my personal favorite cut of fries, so I kept grabbing for more, even after I was stuffed. Prices are fair, service was superb and I felt at home! We came here for Mother's Day brunch (I liked how they had Mother's Day deal for Saturday, only restaurant I could find that had a brunch deal for the holiday the day before) The food was delicious (my wife had the eggs with skirt steak and I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. The potatoes that came with the dish tasted incredible. The entrées came with a complementary mimosas, most places would charge you extra. Also they good kids meal for my son who enjoyed the French toast .Service was pretty good. The restaurant itself is like the millridge Inn where the decor hasn't been change and I think it need some updating. Plus parking is tight, you need to do the valet parking. I've been here twice. The first time I made an OpenTable reservation for myself and some old friends in from out of town to meet for dinner on a Saturday night. We showed up and they informed us they canceled the reservation because we didn't respond to their confirmation email and they no longer had a table for us. How embarrassing. Can you believe that? I did give them a second chance. Food is decent. Live music can be a plus. But have to always be cautious of an establishment that would slight a customer because of what other customers have done to them in the past. read more

Thyme combines a cozy and homey atmosphere with amazing high-end meals complete with fancy, instagram-worthy platings. I've been here several times for both more intimate dinners and with larger groups. Most recently I was here for their Passover prix fixe. Amazing chopped liver, haroset and matzoh ball soup to start. It was awesome to have a fine dining version of these traditional dishes, and I can't say enough about the soothing and savory soup! Followed by several amazing entrees and desserts, it was a very memorable Passover experience for our small group. I really appreciate their creative cocktail menu and have enjoyed everything I've tried, including their fun fig and earl grey cocktail at my most recent visit. The staff is also extremely welcoming and helpful, providing us with great recommendations on food and drinks. I would definitely recommend this place for an intimate date - the food and drinks are fancy enough to impress, but the atmosphere really puts you at ease. The pre-fixed restaurant week in Long Island is happening until May 5th and I saw this place on the list! I went here tonight for the first time and I have to say I was very impressed. I had the ravioli for my appetizer and it was delicious! I love the pink vodka sauce that it is in. It's only 3 raviolis but it's a perfect teaser before the entree ! I had the papparedelle short rib for the main course. It was very tasty as well. For dessert I had the banana pudding and tried the chocolate truffle. Hands down, I must say that the chocolate truffle is a must try. The banana pudding was too much banana for my taste. I also tried the French pressed decaf coffee which was very good! The only down sides about this restaurant is that you have to valet and the bathroom is all the way on the second floor. read more

Although I understand that businesses are trying their best i had the worst experience yesterday. My party and I were singled out from the dining area to be reminded on more than 5 occasions that we had 90 minutes. We had one guest that was 15min late but under extreme pressure we began our order. There was another table of a white couple that was their before us and stayed as long as we did but they were never told the same. I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that they ordered a bottle of champagne or that both the waiter and the manager decided to target the only minority table at the time. I felt embarrassed and I spoke to the manager about it and all he could do was refer me to CDC guidelines, which I have no problems with. I will never go to this place again because what I do have problems with is being targeted and embarrassed. They kept saying they had a 1:30 reservation, but I'm not sure how that was possible since technically we had the table until 1:30. Eventually they said the reservation cancelled, but by then I completely annoyed. I amend this review. I received a call from Nancy the owner who apologized and accepted responsibility. If only all of life was this simple. Thank you Nancy for hearing me and understanding my point of view. I look forward to returning one day in the future. read more

Fantastic Easter Brunch! First, I have to thank Nancy for making this brunch possible. I had made a reservation on Open Table about two weeks before Easter and due to some snafu, likely on my end, when I was checking things the night before, it wasn't there! I called the restaurant and Nancy, with a little bit of a time change, made it happen, and I am SO glad she did, everything was wonderful! It was busy yet not over crowded and the noise level was totally manageable. I often find these days that you can't hear the people at your own table, but that was not the case at Thyme. It was great to be able to hold a conversation with my family at Easter brunch. As for the brunch everyone was able to find something on the menu they could enjoy. The mini scones and muffins were a nice touch to start with, and the brunch cocktails were great (LOVED the Blood Orange Margarita a nice special cocktail). My daughter and I enjoyed the french toast, which was a most generous plate. My husband had the steak and eggs which he said was cooked perfectly and again was the perfect size. My mother in law enjoyed the poached eggs on a potato cake and also truly enjoyed her meal. We did look at the dessert menu but were all so full from brunch we said we will have to come back to be able to enjoy dinner and dessert! On Saturday they open @ 1130 am for brunch with a pre-fixed menu that includes drink of choice and upgrades. Skip the drinks because they used canned juices that may or maybe not have gone bad, so you're better off with water. We started with orange juice that went bad and they were replaced with grapefruit juice which w wasn't any better. They also have mini raisin scones with cinnamon sugar butter which was really good. My husband and I both had the steak and eggs. Egg dishes come with potatoes and French fries are a 4$ upgrade which is pretty steep. Eggs are served any style. The steak is served on garlic bread crostini. I had mine medium rare and his medium. They were both cooked to our liking. Overall, the food was good. I wish I could give the restaurant a 3.5 since it wasn't bad, but wasn't enough to give a 4. If I were in the area, I'd come back to give it another chance. Thyme... The play on words is cute as this place sits directly in front of the ancient clock tower in Roslyn village. We met up here after a day of shopping and were pleasantly surprised- I'd been hearing good things about Thyme and needed to check it out. The bar guy was a champ- kept us happily consuming and no matter how bizarre our request, he was more than accommodating. The food - very good and nicely presented. We enjoyed everything and since we were there early in the afternoon- the chef came out to chat with us - turns out we had a common link from the past which was interesting. The location is very nice- this used to be the old Elephant room restaurant. It is situated with the rear of the place facing Roslyn pond and it is very romantic with the big, open windows and candles on the tables. The lunch menu was somewhat sparse in my opinion but the dinner menu presented a decent array of items. Parking is tight in Roslyn - there is a small muni lot and there is parking behind the restaurant so all you have to do is bring yourself there. read more

The two stars are for the food. It was delicious. But negative three for shady business practices. We went for brunch. We were seated with a lovely view of... The wall. It wasn't so busy that we would have been a hassle to sit at a four top. Instead, I hit that wall with my arm the entire meal. But no, dear helper, that's not the shady business of which I speak! Given a menu for brunch, we perused while waiting for our server. He gave me a choice of sparkling or still water. And that was the downfall. I certainly don't expect free sparkling water, but if you're going to charge me EIGHT GODDAMN DOLLARS FOR WATER, then it is my opinion that you should either disclose that in the menu (it wasn't there) or advise that there is an up charge for it. Didn't expect the extra eight dollars on the check at the end of the meal. I had the cold poached salmon, it was delicious. He had steak and eggs. Also delicious. The veal sausage as a side was spectacular. It came with a choice of beverage with the meal (none of the choices were sparkling water). I had a Bellini (a little too sweet) and he had OJ. $20 per person for brunch included the beverage + $4 for a sizable side of veal sausage = $44 + $8 DAMN DOLLARS FOR WATER. read more
