Taco Tuesdays

We still love to call ahead on Taco Tuesdays. Delicious tacos, friendly service and great location!

Today I got to try their taco-tuesday 50% off on all their tacos and they were great. Also, they were very friendly and helpful.

Carnitas and Barbacoa Taco

TACO TUESDAY, 50% OFF!!! In a literal shed on the street w/2 parking stalls, ward village parking garage across the street. Favorite taco was Barbacoa. As someone who has tried many California street tacos, these tacos are pretty good for Hawai'i and decent prices too!!

Carne Asada Tacos (1/2 price on Tuesday's!) plus a side of rice and beans - very yummy

Already planning my next visit! I walked by and it smelled so good I had to stop - I had 3 asada tacos which to my pleasant surprise were 1/2 price for taco Tuesday. Service was great - reminded me of home (New York). Tacos and rice and beans were delicious, loved the hot sauce offerings as well. Will definitely be trying a few other tacos next time and hopefully a burrito soon after :)

hooray for taco tuesday! staff super busy yet efficient. there's a lopsided bench for 4-6 people, but most people eat in their cars. my tacos were ready in about 15 minutes... i didn't order in advance. food quality was good and authentic. i found the pollo bland... won't order it again. one was vastly superior to the others... it was shredded and juicy... not sure if it was carnitas or beef I should have paid more attention but i was rushing to a meeting... i guess i'll have to go back next week.. lol. the cilantro, onions and jalapeño elevated the meal... i appreciated the grilled onion. i dont like spicy hot... the jalapeño was pickled and mild, so it matched my flavor profile. heat lovers should use their hot salsa. overall i'd normally give this place a 4 out of 5, but taco tuesday bumps it up a star. i hear the mulitas are good... will try that too

Excellent tacos, quesadillas and burrito! I arrived just past 6:00PM and some were still waiting. I was able to place my order and waited for around 15 minutes. The foods were ready and everything tasted so good!

Got referred to this place a while back and figured I'd check it out. Was not disappointed. Had some carnitas tacos and a steak burrito. Do yourself a favor and get the tacos with all the extras. Everything was just straight up excellent taco truck food. Reasonably fast food service, (for making food to order). Friendly staff. Decent prices for a small local place, and I don't mind paying it. Oh, and one thing: Please leave a tip if you do decide to go here. I've seen too many small shops get overwhelmed by stiff tourists who read these reviews and storm the place only to cheap out on the tip. Keep local business alive. There are limited drink options and no real seating. But this is how it should be. Just order your food and either eat it standing up in the lot or in your car like a real foodie. It's worth it.

Thyda's Tacos... Where to start. This place serves more than just food. They serve soul, flavor, hospitality, and culture. The owner's, Thyda and Magid do a tremendous job creating such a beautiful atmosphere. Over the years I've been coming here, they have always been kind and attentive. Come here for the hands down best burrito money can buy on this island. Perhaps even the best on the planet... But make sure you stay a customer for the vibes. And a big shout out to the staff they hire! Always friendly! My go to order: Barbacoa burrito, with guac and extra chocolate (seasonal) habanero sauce inside --- Enjoy!!!

@fortunefoodfinds: "You're fantas-TACO n' my fav-URRITO! A plate of tacos (asada, chicken, barbacoa, carnitas) n' a carne asada burrito from THYDA'S TACOS. Hands down the best tacos n' burrito that I've had in a while. Don't sleep on their red n' green hot sauces, which compliments the meal. So the next time you're in Kaka'ako wanting Mexican food, this is the real deal!" Staff: friendly Exterior: food truck Wait time: 10-15 mins Parking: street or side lot with a few spaces Overall comments: yuMmmm!! Me n' da hubz inhaled the tacos n' burrito, seriously the best. The burrito was moist n' so flavorful. Hot sauce not needed, but since I like heat, I switched off between the red n' green sauces. The orange sauce was too spicy for me. The tacos came with everything you need. Good in size n' full of flavor. After finishing our food I was already thinking of when we would go back bc I was feening for more!

Been pushing off coming here because I thought find parking was a hassle, but I'm glad we ended up going. ***What I ordered ~ **Asada Burrito (10/10) ~ This size of your face and PACKED. The asada was very tender and everything was SOOO flavorful. If you use their hot sauce it gives the burrito a good kick. I HIGHLY recommend the burrito! **Asada Taco (9/10) ~ Really good! The asada was tender and the fresh herbs cut the fat! It was delicious. **Beef Tongue Taco (6/10) ~ The tongue was tough (which is to be expected). I guess I didn't really like the texture too much, but it was still good. Overall, Service was fast! We ordered on the phone so by the time we got there everything was ready. If you get the chance, try this place! It reminds me of the stuff you find at Cali!! :)

Carnitas burrito
Rachael H.

Best burrito on O'ahu, hands down. The tortilla is perfectly chewy and soft. The burrito is packed to the brim with fillings that are well balanced, including rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, and optional guac add on. I love the cilantro in the guac. I got a carnitas burrito and the carnitas was tender and flavorful! I tried the carne asada too and that was perfectly cooked and cut into smaller pieces, which gave the burrito a great mouthfeel. It was pretty busy at 1pm on a Monday, but they were able to prepare two burritos in about 10-15 minutes. Not much outdoor seating as it's a food stand across from Whole Foods off Queen Street. Definitely try all of their sauces. The orange salsa is spicy!! And I love spice.

Hands down the best taco spot on the island. The mulita with barbacoa is the best. Thyda and Majid are the best.

However, the margaritas felt a bit too light and mostly tasted like melted ice, which was a little disappointing. The food was okay overall, but there's definitely room to improve consistency and quality across the menu. We truly love supporting local spots, and hope they can fine-tune the drinks and food so the experience matches the great idea behind the business. Wishing them growth and better consistency moving forward.

The food was incredible, and the staff was always warm and welcoming. Even when prices were on the higher side, it was worth every penny. The last time I visited it was 8/12/26: Unfortunately, the quality has noticeably dropped over time. I recently brought a coworker here, promising her a great meal, and it was honestly embarrassing. I spent $75 on two Birria taco sets and two drinks. I understand inflation and price increases, but the experience was nowhere near the cost: Service: The employee behind the counter didn't greet us and stayed on his phone while two of us waited to order. He moved incredibly slow, forgot our drinks, and then brought out the wrong ones. Another table mentioned waiting 45 minutes for their food in an otherwise empty restaurant. He also kept going in and out of the bathroom. While we ate our take out order there, he probably went to the bathroom 5 times in 45 minutes. And the worst part was he was the only one working the counter. Food Quality: The $25 Birria plate came with three very small tacos--smaller than the palm of my hand. The tortillas were soggy as if undercooked, the meat lacked seasoning, and the consommé had no flavor. The drinks were so overly sweet they were hard to finish. It's sad to see how much things have changed. Between the lack of customer service, high prices, and poor food quality, I won't be returning.

Flavor was solid, portion was generous, and the food itself is the main reason I keep coming back. The ambiance is chill and local. Most of the afternoon crowd seemed to know each other, which gives the place a comfortable neighborhood feel. That said, the inside is a little dingy and could probably use a renovation. The issue on this visit was the service. When we got there, it was pretty empty, maybe 4 or 5 people sitting at the bar. The guy working behind the bar seated us, but then never brought menus, never brought water, and never came back to take our order. When my friend tried waving him down, he ignored us. Eventually another employee came in, and the bartender just told him, "Go take his order," without acknowledging us at all. I don't know if he was only working the bar that day, but he could have at least brought water, menus, or simply said someone would be right with us. Instead, the whole interaction came across as dismissive and unnecessary. Food was very good as always, but service matters too. Based on this visit, I'd call it 3 stars overall.
