I came here for happy hour on taco Tuesday with some coworkers. They have great deals - $3 tacos, $2 chips and salsa, and $8 margaritas. I got two tacos and made them puffy (an extra $1) at my friend's recommendation. One chicken and one breakfast taco. The breakfast taco was delicious! I love chorizo and the crispy potato on top was such a great touch. The chicken taco was mediocre, not much flavor. As for the "puffy" part - I wasn't blown away, but I didn't get the normal taco to compare. The shell was quite greasy and drenched in oil. Other notes: The salsa was so yummy! I came here with a friend for Taco Tuesday and let me tell you, thunderbird did not disappoint! This was the first time a friend and I had seen each other in about a year so this was a much needed hangout. My friend recommended thunderbird as she lives fairly close and I was more than satisfied. On taco tuesday you are able to mix and match tacos rather than have to order a set of 3 and it was so nice to be able to try different varieties. We both ordered the sweet potato, shrimp al pastor and short rib tacos. All were great, but if I went back I would order just the sweet potato taco! It was surprisingly delicious and just overall very satisfying. When I go back I plan on getting two sweet potato tacos- one puffy and one regular! We also got an order of fries to share and it was more than enough food for the both of us. I would say that the fries are a must-have item! The fries were perfectly cooked and the sauces were just the icing on the cake. I am not going to lie, I ordered the fries purely based off of the fact that they came with curry ketchup, but I was definitely blown away. Can't wait to come back! read more

This is a super fun place! I came here on the Friday before Halloween, and it was packed. The DJ, Bliss, is awesome as she is amazing with getting the dance floor moving. I visited Thunderbird on their opening night, and am very glad to have this new addition to the neighborhood. Given that it was their first night, I'll forgive them for needing to work out the kinks. We had lovely service, and good drinks, but the food was fairly average, and came out extremely slowly. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive. This space is much improved over the previous restaurant - the seats are more comfy, and the place was well decorated. The bar seating is expanded, and anywhere you sit would be great viewing for sports events on the TVs. They do have a happy hour, which is very nice, and I had the margarita, which was solid (and served with paper straws, so thank you, Thunderbird!). They've got Skeeball and a photobooth, so I can see this making for a nice party place. The food was underwhelming but again I'm giving a bit of leeway given that it was the opening night. We got the nachos and guac, and both were very lacking in flavor and took forever to get out. The nachos especially, didn't have much in the way of cheese/queso which was what I was looking forward to trying, having never had tex-mex before. This is my second time here and yet again this place met all of my expectations and more. The food is good, the drinks are delicious, and it's even better when you can enjoy it with some friends. Sunday funday did not disappoint. It was so much fun. The crispy chickpeas are addicting by the way. Chips and guac is a must to share with your family and friends. Let me start off by assuring all my fans that this is a 5 star establishment. The Thunderburger is on par with the likes of burgers from Father's Office and Plan Check (it's that good!), but unfortunately their Spicy Chicken Sandwich is on par with McDonalds. As you can tell by the photos, they use low quality dark meat that is so stringy I would have better luck chewing a bungee cord. HOLIDAY PARTY! I was put in charge of putting together the holiday party for our Television Studio. The top brass wanted a paired down version this year. Something intimate, fun, and reasonably priced. I reached out to the email address on the Thunderbird website and was connected to Natasha Daniel, the Thunderbird event coordinator. Natasha was a gem and so helpful at every step of the planning. She made it so easy to reserve the right space, decide on the right food, and keep everything within our budget. On the night of, Thunderbird had sectioned off our area and everything was set up perfectly right on time. Thank goodness! Our point of contact that night was George and he took such good care of us. At one point we were requesting for music to be turned down, tables to be bussed, etc, and it was all done so fast, no questions asked. They even had a way for us to do our White Elephant, which I'm sure was a first for them! All of this while Thursday Night Football is happening and poor George is missing his favorite team to keep everything running smoothly. All in all, a fabulous holiday party with no mishaps. Thunderbird has an incredible staff of people working for them. Cheers to the wonderful bartenders, bussers, and cooks we didn't learn the names of that night. A super cute spot with reasonably-priced drinks and bar bites. Came here to watch the Super Bowl and had a great time! Of course, given it was the big game, the place was pretty packed. However, unlike other spots, it wasn't over-crowded and an hour before the game, we were still able to grab seats at a high table. Whoever decorated this place did a fantastic jobs! The bar in the middle is inviting, and the marble high top tables + booths offer plenty of different seating types/options. There are also a good number of tvs to watch sports games on. The menu has a good variety of beers on tap + fun cocktails (including alcoholic slushies). For food, we opted to split the nachos (asking for the meat on the side, as one of us was vegetarian). We weren't expecting much, but the nachos were super tasty! Would definitely order it again. I stuck to beer to drink, so nothing too interesting to comment on there. Overall, Thunderbird is definitely a nice mid-town Santa Monica spot to get a drink or do brunch at. read more

I love this bar! I used to live around the corner and could come here for all of my hinge/bumble first dates. Perfect combo between a sports bar and a trendy LA bar. As a UCLA alum it's my go-to for football games. George went above and beyond to make sure my group could watch the Seahawks game after being disappointed by other local bars. This bar is close to my office so convenient for us to go to during the day. Been here now 4x both day and night times. Really like the atmosphere. Lots of good seating including large booths and bar tops. Their tacos aren't bad. Really like the puffy tacos. I typically get the picadillo but recently tried their lamb. Also very good! I'd pass on the carnitas they were dry, and i've tried them every time hoping it got better and it still hasn't. Drink selection is good and decent for their happy hours and daily specials. Street parking only out front but have definitely parked in the parking lots behind the bar near amandine. I'd say this is a great place for groups and team gatherings. Used to go here a few years ago when it was just a normal sports bar. I'm assuming after COVID there was a lack of spots to go to because this became bungalow from (years ago) but with less attractions. If you plan to go, just expect a vibe from the staff that pretends to be a exclusive hollywood spot, but when you get in it's still the same bar. Smells like old beer and vomit. I met some friends here last Friday night, and, unfortunately, it was not a good experience overall. Although the atmosphere is fun, and they have a photo booth, and many games to play, the food fell short of my expectations. I ordered two tacos (Chicken Borracho and Sweet Potato), and there was no clear indication that these options were spicy. I took two bites of the chicken borracho taco, and it was so spicy that I felt bad for three days. They should warn customers when a dish is very spicy. Happy hour was nice, but don't expect strong drinks. They were tasty!!! I ordered the Moscow Mule and another drink I cant remember. All were tasty. The moscule mule came with a fun chewy ginger candy that was nice to dissolve in the drink. As for food(my favorite part): Crispy Chickpeas --fun and yum alert. Easy table snack for groups - i ate these all night. Chips and salsa --good. Not for my palette but the salsa had a nice pineapple or mango in it. Think refreshing salsa. It's about time the area around Wilshire and Bundy had a solid neighborhood sports bar without needing to trek to Nickel Mine or The Butchers Pub. Thunderbird is a swanky bar with a Tex Mex vibe, complete with tan walls, Western decor, and nice leather booths. There's plenty of TVs around so perfect to catch the games. They have a decent selection of drinks and whiskey of choice here is Old Crow. But one cool thing is the picklebacks! With pickles they sourced themselves. There's also a menu of tacos and what not here - will have to come back and try it. Manager here is friendly and will come hang out and take a shot with you.
