I contacted "American Thermal Window Products" and wanted to get this house project rolling before 2022 came. Unfortunately, due to labor and material shortages, I was informed the door installation would be at least a three-month wait. Nick and everyone else in the office were very friendly. Nick explained everything about the estimate (free in-person estimate) and answered any questions we had. He emphasized that everyone involving with the installation process worked for the company. With that being said, there would be no third party contractors hired off the street! I understood the virtue of using the company employees. I have been part of the gig economy for some times. I wouldn't say the contractors wouldn't do a job, yet there could be a lack of accountability on their part of work certainly. In late February 2022, I received a voicemail from Linda and immediately called the office. She scheduled the installation date for me and provided an arrival window. The crew came in prepared within the window and was ready to work! The installation was rather quick. The cleaning was thorough. Everything was painless. The crew leader told us that adjustment could be made if there was a need. That door...let me tell ya...was a godsent. It helped conserve the heat. So fast, helpful, moved my furniture and installed all of the windows, put foam insulation around the frames and capped everything on the outside in aluminum. After the install, I had a question about one of the windows since it looked like there was a small crack at the top corner and they sent someone out to look at it right away. It turned out it was just some glue residue that was attached on the inside of the window that made it look like a crack and was easly scraped off with a razor blade. However, i was willing to invest the time for the right doors and right price. Oscar and i met for over an hour. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about all my door options. He brought along a presentation (via his ipad), as well as materials so we got it all done within that hour. The other companies took a lot less, but resulted in a few trips to my house and lots of back and forth via email. I honestly probably prefer the latter since less time all at once. Here's how they stood out: They had excellent communication. From Angelo's estimate all the way to passing inspection, they were on top of their game. The estimate had every combination of options listed with exactly what they were going to do and photos of the planned work. We were assigned a field supervisor (Justin, I believe?) who would come out on the same day to inspect any issues we brought up. Our contact with the office via Cindy and Anthony was also superb and always timely. The work was done swiftly and well. The roofers were done before I got back from work. Siding and gutters are more involved, but they did excellent there as well and Roman et al. were excellent to work with, took feedback very well (see communication above), and were very hard and efficient workers. All in all, we were done with our project long before other houses in the same subdivision who had all signed up with doorknocker companies, and they delivered a high level of quality. To be clear, their estimate was slightly higher (my gut says 10% higher, but it's been a while since I reviewed the proposals) than some other offers we received, but for the work that we were doing, level of customization, and communication, we wouldn't make a different choice. We ended up with them for a few reasons: - Their quote was competitive - They were able to spray paint the interior trim with our existing paint color - They were able to match the exterior trim as closely as possible to our windows outside - Anthony at Siding & Windows Group was very responsive We placed the order on August 22nd, which is my bday. I can't say new doors was what i wanted for my bday, but i guess this is being a homeowner in your 40s. The new doors weren't installed until November 6th and we just hoped for no big storms and got lucky. Anthony checked in a few times on when they'd be installed and pushed it back a few days due to other projects. The actual installation took about a day, which wasn't too bad. A week later they came to spray paint, which honestly seemed like a much bigger project than installing the doors. That took 2 days and went smoothly, although there was a little confusion about them not knowing what color to paint, etc. It turned out beautifully and while the doors look very similar to our old doors I like the look of these even better. The exterior finish isn't a perfect match, but i think a big part of that is our old paint on our windows as faded. One day we'll touch it all up, but for now we're looking forward to a break in paying for anything for the house. I learned there are a lot of companies in the area for new windows/doors, but we were satisfied with this one and would use them again.
