We hired Michael and his team to work on a master bath remodel and a few other miscellaneous projects (painting, drywall patching, new exterior door, etc). The work he did was great and I was very impressed by the level of communication he offered throughout the process. His team was incredibly respectful when they were in our home. I had high expectations for the projects and Michael rose to the occasion. It was obvious that the Kolin Group prides themselves on delivering the highest quality work. What impressed me most was how Michael handled some bumps in the remodel process. For example, we purchased marble tile flooring for the bathroom that ended up being defective, crumbling easily. Another contractor could have noticed this on installation, not said anything and continued the install, leaving us with a huge headache down the road when the tile would have started cracking. Michael identified this issue, notified me right away, drove to the tile store and negotiated a full refund for us (it was a final-sale type of store) so we could start over with a new tile. We went a different direction with the marble floor tile and I couldn't be happier. read more

My girlfriend and I enjoyed working with Mike and his team to remodel a condo. Specifically, we engaged Mike to change the counter-top and install dry walls and two new doors. We were very appreciative that Mike's team performed quality work and how detailed Mike's documentation of out-of-scope expenses was. It was a job well done! For future projects, I would like Mike to alert clients in advance if he needs extra time before meeting them for a final work-through. This is because hardly any clients appreciate being told to come back later after arriving on site. Throughout the remodeling project, Mike communicated with us promptly. I recently had a few projects to get taken care of at my west loop condo and I hired Michael w/ Kolin group to do the job. I had a bathroom to paint, light installation, exposed pipe painting, and some patch work to do. Michael was excellent to work with. His prices really made me wonder if it was too good to be true, but after seeing his quality of work I couldn't be happier with my decision to work with him. I've worked with a few different contractors in the past few years and Michael was incredibly respectful of my home, he cleaned up everything I couldn't even tell he had done work here all day. Unfortunately, not that's not an industry standard among other contractors which made it even more noticeable when the job was finished. I have a few more projects to complete this year and Michael will be the first call I make. I wish I could give Mike and his team more than 5 stars because they deserve it. Mike and his team, recently finished remodeling our high rise condominium and wow, it seriously looks brand new, we couldn't be happier! Originally, when we purchased the place, it was total trash, needed demolition of everything: kitchen, bathroom, living room, new paint, anything, you name it! We even wanted to break a wall in the kitchen in order to make it flow better with the living room and Mike was more than patient with our constant back and forth decisions of how we wanted the cut-out. Even with the strict association rules and the bossy management office, Mike was always smiling and laughing, trying to make the best out of the situation. After some heartbreaking experience having friends and friends of friends fixing my new pad on Lake Shore Drive, I decided to look on Yelp, and go with the guys who had the highest rating. And I do not regret a bit! After the botched job, the floors had to be completely redone: lifted and glued back together In the entire unit. Michael gave me a no hassle and very reasonable quote, came with his guys, and got it done timely and well. Like most, I rarely write reviews online unless my experience is really bad or really good. Luckily, working with Kolin Group and Mike himself was fantastic. I recently bought a house and to my surprise, discovered that the whole basement / garden level needed a major repair and remodeling done (something that wasn't even caught by the inspector before my purchase). So being under a lot of stress already, I've asked friends and searched online not simply for a highly rated reliable construction company, but for someone who would answer all my questions and oversee the process from the beginning til the end. I selected Kolin Group because out of few places I called for an estimate, Mike was the first one to respond, the first one to come by for an assessment and besides giving me a great price, he really spent a good amount of time explaining me why the moist problem like the one I had occurs, how it affects the flooring, and what he would do to prevent it and to completely re-do the walls and floor. I really liked such attention and thorough explanation. So Mike and his workers did do everything the way I wanted. They called me will all the updates on remodeling, suggested various options and ways of doing the floor and other wooden elements. All the workers were professional and knowledgeable, too. Not to mention that the communication with these guys was a breeze. From the floors to re-done walls to even a painting job - basement looks top notch now. This is the first entirely positive experience I've had with a contractor. Ever. Michael and his team were amazing. We hired them (on the recommendation of an interior designer) to install a tile backsplash. They picked up the tile from the designer and grout from a tile shop, took their time to ensure they did a flawless job, communicated well about status, and were EXTREMELY polite - they asked permission for everything, and apologized for things they didn't need to apologize for at all, like (gasp!) leaving a tool on our balcony. We also had a broken shade we couldn't find anyone else to fix, and they fixed it free. My stress was elevated on day 1 of the job (because, contractors) and gone by day 4. This is the kind of contractor you find, then hire to do everything you can possibly hire them to do, just because they do stuff so well. read more

We purchased our first home in Glenview in March 2017 and knew we wanted to do some renovations before moving in. I found Michael after reading great reviews on Yelp. He gave us a quote that came under our proposed budget and said he could do everything on our "wish list". He was right! He completed everything that we wanted. He transformed our dream into a reality and added in small touches and gave advice that we didn't include in our original plan. He renovated a guest bedroom, an entire basement and 1/2 bath. He also painted and refinished all the hardwood floors in the house. Being first time homeowners and doing renovations is very stressful, but Michael was great throughout the whole process. He is timely with communication, gave frequent updates about the project, and the entire crew was very clean (some neighbors didn't even know there were workers at the house because they were so respectful with noise and trash). He told me from the beginning we were going to have fun and we did! It was so neat to see the entire house turn into something new. He paid close attention to details and made sure everything looked clean and professional. We even had a minor issue with the garage door not opening after the project was done and Michael had it taken care of by another professional within a few days.
