Mike and Kolin Group do outstanding work. I had a large remodeling job to tackle in my 1100 sq. ft. condo that included: All new floors, all new kitchen, new master bath and many built-ins throughout. I had designers working on that side of things and Michael worked very closely with them throughout the process to ensure that everything turned out beautifully. Also, the excellent work Mike does comes at a fair and reasonable price. He is super responsive to any outreach and committed to the highest quality. I just can't recommend Mike and Kolin Group enough to anyone - great job and THANK YOU for everything. Just don't get too busy to take on my last step - guest bath remodel in 2020! read more

We hired Kolin Group to renovate our West Loop loft and couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish, Mike and the entire team was professional, communicative, and genuinely easy to work with. They took the time to walk us through every step of the process, making sure we understood what to expect in terms of timeline and cost -- no surprises, no stress. The quality of the craftsmanship speaks for itself. Every detail was handled with care, and the finished result truly transformed our home. They were respectful of our space, kept things as tidy as possible throughout the project, and stayed on schedule. If you're looking for a reliable, skilled remodeling contractor in the Chicago area, look no further. Kolin Group has earned a customer for life. Thank you! read more

We hired Michael and his team to work on a master bath remodel and a few other miscellaneous projects (painting, drywall patching, new exterior door, etc). The work he did was great and I was very impressed by the level of communication he offered throughout the process. His team was incredibly respectful when they were in our home. I had high expectations for the projects and Michael rose to the occasion. It was obvious that the Kolin Group prides themselves on delivering the highest quality work. What impressed me most was how Michael handled some bumps in the remodel process. For example, we purchased marble tile flooring for the bathroom that ended up being defective, crumbling easily. Another contractor could have noticed this on installation, not said anything and continued the install, leaving us with a huge headache down the road when the tile would have started cracking. Michael identified this issue, notified me right away, drove to the tile store and negotiated a full refund for us (it was a final-sale type of store) so we could start over with a new tile. We went a different direction with the marble floor tile and I couldn't be happier. read more

My girlfriend and I enjoyed working with Mike and his team to remodel a condo. Specifically, we engaged Mike to change the counter-top and install dry walls and two new doors. We were very appreciative that Mike's team performed quality work and how detailed Mike's documentation of out-of-scope expenses was. It was a job well done! For future projects, I would like Mike to alert clients in advance if he needs extra time before meeting them for a final work-through. This is because hardly any clients appreciate being told to come back later after arriving on site. Throughout the remodeling project, Mike communicated with us promptly. Therefore, Mike was probably too busy with finishing the project on the last day and forgot to alert us before we came. read more

Mike and his crew did a great job for us. We recently bought a house that needed some...love and attention. He delivered a very competitive quote and completed his work on time and within the budget. We had other workers in our house at the same time he was there. Painters, carpet installers, etc. Mike was able to be my eyes and ears on the ground. He had great recommendations in regards to the other people's work and I took his advice. Glad we did. Mike and his team were very patient with us. He was beyond thorough. Yes, we will use his services in the future. Yes, I would highly recommend calling him for any work you need done. read more

We've been working with Mike and team from the Kolin Group on a range of items related to our home remodel and couldn't be more pleased with the work. They have helped us with lighting, electrical and a broad range of small/mid-sized projects (e.g., cabinetry install, wall work, etc). Their work is high quality and professionally finished. Equally important, Mike and all of his team are responsive and highly professional. Unlike many other contractors we've dealt with, Kolin Group's pricing is reasonable and they don't 'nickel and dime' us for every small change from the original plan. Highly recommend. read more

Mike and his crew did an awesome job on our home. We had them install window blinds, mount tvs, put up a backsplash for our kitchen, and also redesign our living room fireplace with stacked stone. The quote we were given was very reasonably priced and completion time was speedy. We had this work done in early December and we are already beginning talks with Mike again to start another project this month. Highly recommended! read more

I have worked on a few jobs with Mike and he is a complete professional and is able to take a challenging situation and make it look beautiful. There is alot of options for a general contractor but only a handful who stick to their word , show up on time and finish and make everything exactly like they said. I look forward to working more with Kolin group and would highly refer them to any of my friends or family. read more

I recently had a few projects to get taken care of at my west loop condo and I hired Michael w/ Kolin group to do the job. I had a bathroom to paint, light installation, exposed pipe painting, and some patch work to do. Michael was excellent to work with. His prices really made me wonder if it was too good to be true, but after seeing his quality of work I couldn't be happier with my decision to work with him. I've worked with a few different contractors in the past few years and Michael was incredibly respectful of my home, he cleaned up everything I couldn't even tell he had done work here all day. Unfortunately, not that's not an industry standard among other contractors which made it even more noticeable when the job was finished. I have a few more projects to complete this year and Michael will be the first call I make. If you're looking to get quality work done for a great price don't bother going anywhere else, hire Michael! read more

I wish I could give Mike and his team more than 5 stars because they deserve it. Mike and his team, recently finished remodeling our high rise condominium and wow, it seriously looks brand new, we couldn't be happier! Originally, when we purchased the place, it was total trash, needed demolition of everything: kitchen, bathroom, living room, new paint, anything, you name it! We even wanted to break a wall in the kitchen in order to make it flow better with the living room and Mike was more than patient with our constant back and forth decisions of how we wanted the cut-out. Mike was extremely knowledgeable on what would look best for our place, and always provided us honest feedback, which is so hard to find these days. Even with the strict association rules and the bossy management office, Mike was always smiling and laughing, trying to make the best out of the situation. When we started thinking about the remodeling, we knew absolutely nothing about what would look good and how to even begin. Even though we were 2,000 miles away, we were able to trust Mike completely, and he updated us every day to keep us in the loop. Thank you so much, Mike and the rest of your team, for the hard work you put into our remodel! We are so lucky to have found an awesome person to handle our remodeling project, and we will definitely reach out to Mike again in the future if we need more remodeling done :) read more

Like most, I rarely write reviews online unless my experience is really bad or really good. Luckily, working with Kolin Group and Mike himself was fantastic. I recently bought a house and to my surprise, discovered that the whole basement / garden level needed a major repair and remodeling done (something that wasn't even caught by the inspector before my purchase). So being under a lot of stress already, I've asked friends and searched online not simply for a highly rated reliable construction company, but for someone who would answer all my questions and oversee the process from the beginning til the end. I selected Kolin Group because out of few places I called for an estimate, Mike was the first one to respond, the first one to come by for an assessment and besides giving me a great price, he really spent a good amount of time explaining me why the moist problem like the one I had occurs, how it affects the flooring, and what he would do to prevent it and to completely re-do the walls and floor. I really liked such attention and thorough explanation. So Mike and his workers did do everything the way I wanted. They called me will all the updates on remodeling, suggested various options and ways of doing the floor and other wooden elements. All the workers were professional and knowledgeable, too. Not to mention that the communication with these guys was a breeze. From the floors to re-done walls to even a painting job - basement looks top notch now. I am super happy with the job they have done and an overall experience I've had with them. Will most likely be calling Kolin Group again in the spring to re-do my deck. Cheers. read more

After some heartbreaking experience having friends and friends of friends fixing my new pad on Lake Shore Drive, I decided to look on Yelp, and go with the guys who had the highest rating. And I do not regret a bit! After the botched job, the floors had to be completely redone: lifted and glued back together In the entire unit. Michael gave me a no hassle and very reasonable quote, came with his guys, and got it done timely and well. Again, no hassle or complaints because the job turned out to be significantly more challenging than expected. I got a really great vibe from Michael himself as well as all of the guys that worked with him. Getting your home remodeled is an experience that will stay with you for years to come, and with Kolin group will be a very positive one. read more

Mike and his team are fantastic! They did a phenomenal job for my condoin downtown Chicago. Very professional, finished the job on time and kept the place very clean after the paint job. Another standout experience where Mike demonstrated his excellent service by going the extra mile was when I needed to find the type of paint. I needed to touch up a spot and I forgot the color and type of paint used. Mike dug up old texts and sent me a picture of the paint. I would hire him again and highly recommend his service. read more

We recently had Mike and his crew in to do extensive renovations. The project turned out beautifully, attention was paid to the details which I really appreciated. They were prompt, professional, friendly and left our home tidy at the end of each day. After being paid in full he came back to install something that was back ordered (my fault), that tells you a lot right there. I've already referred the Kolin Group to my friends and neighbors, if you're planning on doing some home renovations do yourself a favor and call Mike you won't be disappointed! read more

I hired Mike to completely renovate my Old Town condo and Mike did a great job with everything. He was very easy to work with, managed all of the HOA requirements, and dealt with many unexpected items that popped up during the renovation. I always felt like Mike had my back and knew he would make sure my condo was done nicely even with the scope getting bigger than we initially discussed. I would hire Mike again without hesitation. read more

As an interior designer it is essential to work with a contractor who provides excellent results. The Kolin Group was referred to me by one of my clients who were thrilled with their basement remodel that included a full bathoom in Northbrook. I referred Kolin Group to another client who had them install flooring and paint. They did an amazing job in the time and pricing that was agreed on. I think they have a great work ethic, are very knowledgeable and we are setting up to work on a guest bathroom next In Lincoln Park, another flooring project in Lincoln Park, as well as several projects for one of my favorite clients in the South Loop. read more

Mike from the Kolin Group is a proud supporter of the Cook County Sherriffs FOP#4. He is an amazing guy!

This is the first entirely positive experience I've had with a contractor. Ever. Michael and his team were amazing. We hired them (on the recommendation of an interior designer) to install a tile backsplash. They picked up the tile from the designer and grout from a tile shop, took their time to ensure they did a flawless job, communicated well about status, and were EXTREMELY polite - they asked permission for everything, and apologized for things they didn't need to apologize for at all, like (gasp!) leaving a tool on our balcony. We also had a broken shade we couldn't find anyone else to fix, and they fixed it free. My stress was elevated on day 1 of the job (because, contractors) and gone by day 4. This is the kind of contractor you find, then hire to do everything you can possibly hire them to do, just because they do stuff so well. read more

We purchased our first home in Glenview in March 2017 and knew we wanted to do some renovations before moving in. I found Michael after reading great reviews on Yelp. He gave us a quote that came under our proposed budget and said he could do everything on our "wish list". He was right! He completed everything that we wanted. He transformed our dream into a reality and added in small touches and gave advice that we didn't include in our original plan. He renovated a guest bedroom, an entire basement and 1/2 bath. He also painted and refinished all the hardwood floors in the house. Being first time homeowners and doing renovations is very stressful, but Michael was great throughout the whole process. He is timely with communication, gave frequent updates about the project, and the entire crew was very clean (some neighbors didn't even know there were workers at the house because they were so respectful with noise and trash). He told me from the beginning we were going to have fun and we did! It was so neat to see the entire house turn into something new. He paid close attention to details and made sure everything looked clean and professional. We even had a minor issue with the garage door not opening after the project was done and Michael had it taken care of by another professional within a few days. I would definitely recommend him to our family and friends and will be using him in the future if we decide to do any other projects around the house! read more
