Sunny Construction & Remodeling - a kitchen and dining room - General Contractors Near Me - Schaumburg, Illinois

Got a quote from Sunny Construction to remove carpeting, install vinyl plank flooring over 1,000SF of flooring in a basement, paint walls and ceiling, and move a 220v outlet about 30 feet (basement has an exposed ceiling so no walls would need to be cut into etc. it was a clean run). The total quote was $15K. I asked the following to get a more detailed breakdown of labor costs in an email: "I am struggling with the pricing on this quote it seems quite expensive. Flooring Materials - 2.29 sq.ft @ 1,000 sq ft = $2,290 plus 10% overage let's call it $2,600 Paint - let's call it $500 Quarter round - $100 Electrical - wiring and conduit - let's even call that $500 So all told materials are somewhere $3,700 so $11,300 in labor. Let's say even $5 sq. ft. for floor labor (dispose of carpet and install flooring) which I think is a bit high as it's luxury vinyl which is easy to put down. That is $5k in flooring labor. That still leaves $6,300 for painting and electrical labor. What am I missing here?" Instead of replying with a further breakdown of his labor or material costs his only reply was that if the quote looked too expensive than he wasn't a good fit. I have owned 6 houses and have had basements finished before. 1. I have never gotten such a high level estimate with effectively zero detail before (photo attached) and 2. I have never had a contractor get offended and not be able to provide more detail on said quote to show the work on how they arrived at pricing. I have attached a picture of said project (the furniture is digitally generated so it is in fact completely empty so no furniture to move, etc.). In essence it is huge room so not much complexity with cutting in during painting and not much to work around when flooring (vents, doorways, etc.) My guess is he was offended when asked to provide more detail because he knew the numbers were indefensible when broken down like I had. If I were you, I would look elsewhere for my remodeling needs. read more

Rafal and his team are perfectionist... I would highly recommend Rafal and his team for any remodeling needs

QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY! That's what you get when you hire Rafal and his crew at Sunny Construction & Remodeling. If you want qualify skilled contractors who are experts in remodeling, high level of accuracy, and pay attention to details, look no further! Here is our situation. A few months ago, we had another construction team (recommended by Brother-in-law) to upgrade my Father-In-Law's house. The quality of work was SO POOR that my husband no longer trusts any recommendation. Our guest bathroom had a leak and it also needed upgrading. I took upon myself to search deep and wide for the best contractor in town. I read every review and website. From Google, I noticed that everybody gave Sunny Construction 5 Stars. The reviews all had several things in common...Quality, pleasure to work with, efficient, Professional...etc. I took the initiative to call Sunny Construction and it was the best decision I've ever made. I needed my bathroom done quickly (due to guest coming over for Christmas). Rafal was so accommodating, that in spite of his busy schedule, he made time to have his team (Andre) to work on our house. Not only was the work done exceptionally well, they completed it ahead of schedule. They came in every day on time, and put down drop cloths and plastic sheets from the door way all the way to the second floor bathroom. They changed everything from tiling, faucets, shower components, valves, toilets, frameless bathtub door, vent fan...etc. Regarding tiling, the quality of work was EXCEPTIONAL! The tile that we chose didn't have a matching bullnose (End corner). That was not a problem for Andre. With expert hands, he manually cut each tile to flush against the wall corner. The tiles were PERFECTLY CUT, SEAMLESS and BEAUTIFULLY DONE! Due to our experience with the prior construction team, we were able to compare the craftsmanship between the two companies. The work that Rafal and Andre put out are like the Cub's World Series Champions. They hit it out of the park! They are skilled professionals that are experienced, experts in this field, and knowledgeable. They offered great advice and suggestions whenever needed to enhance the design of our bathroom. No issue is too small for Sunny Construction company. We hit a snag when the fabricator from the granite company cut the countertop hole too close to the sink, resulting in the faucet nut not securing properly. That didn't stop Rafal. He tried different options and ended up grinding the granite to make it fit. Problem solved! The QUALITY that we see can't be beat! Sunny Construction & Remodeling offers friendly staffs who are experts in their crafts. This is the company that you want to work on your bathroom! My husband, who is very picky, was so pleased at the final result that we are now going to have Rafal and his team to work on our Master bathroom. We highly recommend Sunny Construction & Remodeling to everyone! We truly enjoy working with Rafal and his team. We look forward to have them work on our Master bathroom knowing that it's in good hands. =================================== November 2017 Update: Hi All, I apologized for not updating this post sooner as I've been busy with work, but, I want everybody to know that we had Rafal and Andre renovate our Master Bathroom earlier this year. As expected, they did an OUTSTANDING job! The craftsmanship and quality of their work are top notched. The shower niche and the shower surrounds are tiled with precision and perfectly cut. We simply LOVE our Master Bathroom! It's like a Spa Retreat! It is our favorite room in the entire house. Rafal and Andre were always accommodating and adhere to our wish list. They did everything we asked and more! For example, our bathroom cabinet is 20+ years old but in excellent condition. The height was 28 inches which is the old standard height. To save us money so we don't need to buy a new one, they raised the cabinets by building up the side and the bottom boards 2 inches. What a GENIUS idea. He SAVED me $1,500+ by doing so. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. read more

Our home was broken into and we had damage to our foyer floor. I contacted 4 different companies to get a quote. The only response we got was from Sunny Construction. I knew our project was a small project, but did expect a phone call from the other companies. Now I'm glad they didn't! My floor was done quickly and it's beautiful! Sunny construction did the best tile work that I have ever had done in any home! Attention to detail and their professionalism is unmatched! We used stone and I know how much more difficult it is than porcelain tile. Now I'm working on my husband to get our bathroom done! I will use Sunny Construction for all my projects moving forward and highly recommend! read more

We recently had Sunny Construction renovate our master bathroom and we couldn't be happier. We got several quotes for the project and Sunny was within our budget. They arrived every morning on time and worked the full day. Luckily, we did not have many hick-ups with the project, but if something came up it was discussed with us before they moved forward. Their attention to detail throughout the project was top notch. The bathroom came out beautiful and we will definitely recommend them to our friends and continue to use them on future projects. read more

Rafal and Sunny Construction did an excellent job on my bathroom remodel. They ripped out an older tub, took the wall liner off, and ripped down the old drywall. They then put up new drywall, a new tub, a new shower valve, and installed new wall tiles and accents. It looks fantastic and I am very happy I chose to go with Sunny Construction. 1) Pricing was very fair and reasonable. I had gotten 5 total quotes for the job and did my research on the estimates. Rafal had the best price. 2) Quality of work was excellent. I am the type of person who looks at even the smallest things. They did a great job and I can gladly say that they paid great attention to detail. 3) We hit a snag during mid-operation when they found some pipes where they shouldn't be and my shower base wouldn't fit. Rafal carefully went over the different options with me and we decided to install a tub. He chose the perfect tub for us and only charged us the difference in materials. 4) They finished when they said they were going to finish. Actually, they even beat their estimated project time. They went straight through our project from start to finish with no delays. I have a few other projects that I need to do around the house and I will not hesitate to go with Sunny Construction again. I highly recommend them. read more

Prompt and courteous customer service. Since this contractor does big jobs, I was worried he would not consider doing a small job we had on our floor in the basement.
