First, they don't allow test drives on Corvettes, so I told them I wasn't paying much for a car I couldn't fully drive, even with full insurance. They went to talk to "Steve" (the used-car manager), and I was leaving as I came out of the bathroom, headed for the exit. The salesman (who had done a great job in this situation as he could) came to me and said Steve said I could drive it, but first I had to be approved for the loan. I told him I was buying the car outright and didn't need the loan; I had cash but wasn't interested. As I was getting in my truck, Jeff (sales manager) came to the parking lot and said we could drive the car. Roller coaster of rules. Funny how the whole thing changed when I no longer needed their loan. By then, I was over it, and my wife said she had never felt so disrespected in her life. I called a friend of mine, and he said they had done the same thing to his buddy. His buddy fell for it, and the car immediately clunked. Three days later, the torque tube had to be replaced. The car I picked out I wanted badly and was going to buy it, but I am pleased I walked away. I had driven 4 others the same day, with not a second's hesitation from the dealership.
