I'm speechless and confused on why my experience was so horrible at such a highly rated mechanic. I brought the car in for a damaged wheel bearing and a transmission fluid drain and refill. They claim to be Lexus experts (my car is a Lexus). Different employees told me different recommendations which was concerning. I dropped the car off and the next day got a voicemail that the car was fixed and ready for pickup. Great, when I finished transferring my belongings back into my car I am told it just went up on the lift to get worked on. No work had been done whatsoever. Lots of miscommunications on their end. Finally, when I schedule an appointment to get the car fixed the following week they tell me they can't get me in/don't have a loner car until the following week because some people blew their engines and their cars were being worked on. I said "forgot it, nevermind" and went to a competitor I used in Greenville before. They fixed my car in less than 24 hours and had the loner car ready. Ridiculous.. read more

Approximately one month ago, took our 2001 Mazda here and told them it had turned off at red lights and was jerking and acting like it was going to turn off as we were driving and a warning light was on. Almost $1,800 later, we at this moment are standing in a parking lot, waiting on a tow truck, on Hwy 123 where two sweet young men helped us finish pushing our car out of the intersection. The car has stranded us twice since we paid YOUR HONEST MECHANIC nearly $1,800 for this very same reason we took it in for. They talked very nice to us and they said they felt they could fix this problem. We kept getting notices that this additional thing needed done and that needed replaced/repaired. We were under the impression all these new issues they were coming up with were necessary to repair the problem we brought the car in for!! At $1,800 they were still saying something else needs work but at this point we were out of money and not knowing ANYTHING about cars we weren't sure we should put more money into the car. We were told the original problem was repaired. Obviously it was not. We took it back for them to look at just a few days afterwards because that light came back on and they said they would like to do another diagnostic and it appeared there was a very slight leak around the top of the radiator. (We have had no issues with radiator leaks at all. Ever.) I would expect that $1,800 should have fixed the issue we walked in with. I believe they knew they had a couple of senior citizens who were completely ignorant about mechanical issues and took it from there. We are waiting, once again, on a tow. That $1,800 could have went a long ways towards our insulin or eliquis or any of our other prescriptions and doctor appointments. I'm giving One star because I can't give 0. Reason being, the very problem we told them about when we took the car in was NOT fixed. It's still doing the very, exact thing. Nothing new. Exactly how it was doing that made us take it in to begin with. They say they test drove it and it was fine but obviously they didn't drive it in the same way a person would use their vehicle because it still turns off if we sit at a light for too long and it will still jerk and act as if it's going to turn off sometimes when we are going down the road. So far, this repair shop has worked on my Mazda Miata and my Honda Element. Both are absurdly clean, garage kept cars. I will start off by stating that I am a longtime technician and mechanic myself, but my busy schedule these days makes it difficult for me to perform my own vehicle maintenance sometimes. With that being stated, it is difficult for me to bring my car to another repair center and trust them to... -Accurately diagnose issues. -Have technicians on staff that actually give a crap and do quality work. -Offer fair and competitive pricing for diagnostics and repairs. -And have customer service representatives that speak well and articulate detail details in an in intelligent way. Your Honest Mechanic has exceeded all of my expectations with all of the above points thus far. We have primarily worked with employee AMBER who is incredibly kind and very intelligent. She understands mechanical details and articulates repair status and resolution very well. All of the pricing has been incredibly fair and honest. If they start one diagnostic, and determine you need another one, if the second diagnostic supersedes the one before, they will not charge you for the first one. These are just basic logical business practices, but most places these days absolutely suck and do not do any of this. We took my daughter's 2004 Jeep grand Cherokee in for a transmission leak and an oil leak. Already I was apprehensive because I was afraid it was something very serious. Many mechanics would have taken advantage of the situation and said the vehicle needs a new engine or rebuilt transmission, but not your honest Mechanic. They truly live up to their name. We were able to get the transmission leak fixed for a very reasonable cost, and the oil leak fixed as well again at a very reasonable cost. It is hard to find an honest to goodness Mechanic that you can trust with your vehicle and I believe that we found just this with your honest Mechanic. I would recommend them to do any job. After receiving an extremely high quote from another local company for a brake job, I called YHM and asked for a quote. Kevin told me that he would like to look at it first with a free 15-minute inspection and tried to schedule it for another day. I explained that I had to take my truck to Texas ASAP for a family emergency. He told me to bring it right over, even though he had a full schedule. He looked at it and told me that I didn't need brakes. I had a pebble stuck between my caliper and disc. No Charge or expensive brake job. I will be using them for service from now on. read more
