Thruline Coffee, nestled in the heart of downtown Kirkland, offers fantastic brewed coffee and lattes. We were greeted by a very friendly barista who took our order promptly and had our drinks ready in no time. They also offer baked goods and a refrigerated section with deli options. The drip coffee is served from a thermos and is decent--I tried the dark roast. On another visit I had an oat milk latte, which was delicious. My husband ordered the spiced cider and thought it was a bit tart. I visited once on a weekend evening and again on a Saturday afternoon, and both times the place was hopping! Prices are affordable, especially compared to neighboring cafés. The walls are adorned with photos of people--presumably notable visitors--though I didn't recognize any of them. Still, it's fun to take in the diverse collection of faces. Parking can be tough, so I recommend parking near the Kirkland Women's Club and walking about 10 minutes. Otherwise, expect to pay quite a bit for parking.

Come for the coffee, stay for the latte art? Amazing coffee, great working environment, and super staff, led by Adam, Kate and Craig! If you're really lucky, Olivia will make you lattes that look like Mickey Mouse. That's Mickey Mouse, right? And they advertise their sandwiches don't contain rats right on the box (see image). Unconventional, but very reassuring. Thruline is great!

Cozy atmosphere, friendly service! The carrot cake and cheesecake are yummy, and the decaf americano was solid - not too acidic and the perfect temperature. Love that this place is open until 9pm, which is so rare for a coffee shop. The only thing I'd point out is that the leather on the wall seating is cracked/old - I was wearing shorts and it was quite uncomfortable. The only matcha option here is sweet, which I was a little bummed about. There is ample seating, and free street parking nearby.

I ordered an iced matcha lattee with almond milk and it was sooo sweet. I personally like a matcha latte with just the matcha and milk without the added sweetness, but the menu did not indicate any added syrups or sweeteners. But if you prefer really sweet matcha, then it is perfect for you. I would give it another try but would ask what they put in it first. All the sandwich and pastry options were nice though!

4.5 Stars Cozy coffee shop in downtown Kirkland with plentiful seating and yummy drinks with beautiful microfoam ^___^ The pastry case had so many tantalizing looking sweets - cakes, pastries, bars, scones.... and the cold case had egg bites, acai bowls, parfaits, juices. Honey Lavender Latte ($6ish) and Vanilla Latte ($5ish) were both wonderful. I think the owner was there (kind looking gentleman with oval glasses) and he seems to really care about his business :)

Staying in Kirkland downtown. For business trip. I found this cozy and amazing coffee spot in Kirkland downtown. Barista know what she was doing and I was right about that. Order a sandwich and americano for kick-off my morning. It's an amazing place.

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant, but unfortunately, my latte was disappointing..

We had seen several…read morepop up in the past, but hadn't seen anything interesting in the past few months, so we dropped in to ask about them. Apparently rather than being prescheduled most of the time, they are held on demand. We asked for an Oolong tasting session and was able to get one penciled in a couple of weeks later. The store itself is appropriately decorated for a modern and trendy tea shop. There's a bit of an overpowering perfume that lingers throughout the store. It's not the best setting for a tea tasting, especially when trying to differentiate tasting notes when the olfactory glands are already completely saturated with perfume. LizzyKate has a decent selection of true tea, nothing super unique or rare, but I think they lean towards the more accessible blends and tisanes in the first place. Oolong Tasting Class ($35/per person) - Tasting sessions are held in the bar area, brewed mostly using gaiwan with carefully measured water temperature and volume. The class provides some educational material including laminated papers describing the tea production process, growing regions, anatomy, etc. More importantly, unlike some other tasting sessions I've attended, they actually provide pencil and paper, along with brewing instructions, to write down cupping and tasting notes. It certainly beats taking notes on my phone as I usually do. For this course, we tasted a white tea and four different oolongs. My personal tasting notes as follows (for future reference for myself): Bai Mu Dan - Mild, mellow, sweet and slightly astringent flavor with notes of honey and hay. Light golden liquid that's very easy to drink. Tie Guan Yin - Caramelized sweetness, vegetal leafy with a tiny earthy element. Darker golden color with more astringency and round lingering taste. The leaves smell smoky and roasted. Baihao - The smell is distinctively roasty and earthy, approaching the fermented smell of puerh. It has a brownish color and tastes smoky and earthy like peat. Formosa Oolong - It tastes of malt and molasses, with a certain oxidized toastiness. The color is more dark brown although it's not very astringent given the color. Osmanthus Oolong - This smells more malty and surprisingly not that flowery in aroma. The mouthfeel is extremely creamy and silky, almost like milk with the balanced taste of barley and hops with only a slight osmanthus flowery taste in the background. I think the base used is Jin Xuan given the milkiness. With the tasting also comes some treats including mini muffins and some tea infused bars from a chocolatier in Singapore, Fossa Chocolate. I think LizzyKate is more geared towards people who don't have much experience with tea and want a place that's extremely welcoming and modern. They have lattes and plenty of herbal and fruity infusions to help beginners ease into the complexities of tea, While this shop isn't for me, more tea shops are always welcome in the area. I'd definitely recommend it to my friends who want to dip their toes into the world of tea. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

We got to sample five teas and several pieces of chocolate, as well as snacks to clear the palate between teas. We learned about tea and how its harvested, as well as the processing of tea. We also learned about the tea flavor wheel and identified tea tasting notes in the sampled teas. I do wish there was more of a compare and contrast between the teas - it would have been cool to try the same teas but early vs late season, or tea processed similarly but from different regions. If you're new to tea though, the classes are perfect for you!

Once inside, the space feels much larger than expected and is laid out thoughtfully. There's a nice variety of seating options, including small tables for two, spots for small groups, and a large communal table, so it works well whether you're meeting someone or coming in solo. The staff at the counter was friendly and professional, and I appreciated that they asked about my milk preference rather than assuming. I ordered the lavender mocha, which was flavorful and well balanced. It was served hot, but not overly hot, so I could enjoy it right away. This is clearly a laptop-friendly café. There are power outlets and extension cords available throughout the space, which makes it a great place to settle in and get some work done without feeling rushed. One thing to keep in mind is that, since it's located downtown, parking can be a bit challenging and may require some patience if you're driving. Overall, Zoka is a solid downtown coffee spot with good drinks, attentive service, and a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere.

I absolutely love their specialty drinks like honey cardamom, and a shakerato. The vibe and atmosphere is wonderful. It's usually social and low-key but never too loud. They have excellent food, matcha with option to remove sugar (not all coffee shops have this!). Generally, I feel like their staff is really great! Love the location minus the issues with parking being tricky for a quick stop, sometimes need to pay. I keep coming back here! With gas prices over six dollars and budgets getting tighter for so many the one thing that hinders me is their prices. Their baseline drinks are an average of $5.75 + tip. Quiche slice is $8 two hard boiled eggs near $4. Typical typically if I'm gonna spend almost $10 I'd rather buy a fancy drink like a bubble tea or go out for an appetizer and food. When you own your own espresso machine and Matcha at home it's hard to justify getting such expensive drinks unless there is that "I can't make this at home" appeal - housemade syrups, Boba, etc I do love that urban coffee lounge has pour over options which can be time-consuming and cold brew, which is delicious and also more time-consuming. I appreciate their presence in the neighborhood. Having lived in Seattle for so long with so much access to incredible coffee I appreciate urban coffee lounges level of expertise with coffee. It is more rare on the east side. (Zoka is great of course!) And I will keep coming back, but sparingly due to prices. (Am I the only one who feels this way? Let me know!) Dogs are not allowed inside, so tie them up or have a buddy watch them while you go inside. Parking is street or under an apartment complex near by. Not sure if you pay or validate inside those apartment retail parking garages because I parked along the side streets. Park Mobile is the app you use to pay for parking. We didn't know these were typical weekend waiting times. My MIL was willing to wait so we took off and came back in an hour. At that time, they were able to seat our party of three at a table outside. So, it took us about 90 minutes total to get seated. Note to future diners to get on the waitlist early if you're coming for weekend brunch!!! You use a QR code to order from an online menu. Liked how detailed the menu was and how we could remove or add ingredients. With my dairy and eggs intolerance, this comes in handy. My MIL ordered Eggs Benedict, I got the smoked turkey sandwich on focaccia, and my hubs got the chicken sandwich on focaccia. Our sandwiches were packed with lots of deliciousness, but my MIL's English muffin was toasted so hard she couldn't even cut through it with a steak knife. So she sent it back and she also asked for her poached eggs to be cooked harder. The staff member was apologetic and said no problem. It took a while to cook it, but when she got her remade Eggs Benedict, she really liked it. We split a slice of apple bread which was delicious. So happy it was dairy free! My hubs also enjoyed his London Fog. My MIL got a huge slice of coconut cake to go and loved eating it later, telling us it was very moist and coconutty. It was a bright day with nice weather and was a perfect time to try out DERU Market. Even though it was very busy, all of the staff were friendly and attentive. They worked like a well-oiled machine. We definitely want to come back and try more of their dishes, pizza, and desserts.
