We visited LizzyKate as we were interested in taking one of their tea classes. We had seen several pop up in the past, but hadn't seen anything interesting in the past few months, so we dropped in to ask about them. Apparently rather than being prescheduled most of the time, they are held on demand. We asked for an Oolong tasting session and was able to get one penciled in a couple of weeks later. The store itself is appropriately decorated for a modern and trendy tea shop. There's a bit of an overpowering perfume that lingers throughout the store. It's not the best setting for a tea tasting, especially when trying to differentiate tasting notes when the olfactory glands are already completely saturated with perfume. LizzyKate has a decent selection of true tea, nothing super unique or rare, but I think they lean towards the more accessible blends and tisanes in the first place. Oolong Tasting Class ($35/per person) - Tasting sessions are held in the bar area, brewed mostly using gaiwan with carefully measured water temperature and volume. The class provides some educational material including laminated papers describing the tea production process, growing regions, anatomy, etc. More importantly, unlike some other tasting sessions I've attended, they actually provide pencil and paper, along with brewing instructions, to write down cupping and tasting notes. It certainly beats taking notes on my phone as I usually do. For this course, we tasted a white tea and four different oolongs. My personal tasting notes as follows (for future reference for myself): Bai Mu Dan - Mild, mellow, sweet and slightly astringent flavor with notes of honey and hay. Light golden liquid that's very easy to drink. Tie Guan Yin - Caramelized sweetness, vegetal leafy with a tiny earthy element. Darker golden color with more astringency and round lingering taste. The leaves smell smoky and roasted. Baihao - The smell is distinctively roasty and earthy, approaching the fermented smell of puerh. It has a brownish color and tastes smoky and earthy like peat. Formosa Oolong - It tastes of malt and molasses, with a certain oxidized toastiness. The color is more dark brown although it's not very astringent given the color. Osmanthus Oolong - This smells more malty and surprisingly not that flowery in aroma. The mouthfeel is extremely creamy and silky, almost like milk with the balanced taste of barley and hops with only a slight osmanthus flowery taste in the background. I think the base used is Jin Xuan given the milkiness. With the tasting also comes some treats including mini muffins and some tea infused bars from a chocolatier in Singapore, Fossa Chocolate. I think LizzyKate is more geared towards people who don't have much experience with tea and want a place that's extremely welcoming and modern. They have lattes and plenty of herbal and fruity infusions to help beginners ease into the complexities of tea, While this shop isn't for me, more tea shops are always welcome in the area. This is a very accessible and friendly place if you're a tea beginner to expert levels. They sell teas and tea accessories, as well as loose leaf teas and ready to drink hot/cold teas, lattes, etc. I attended one of the tea classes and I think it was a good experience for beginners. We got to sample five teas and several pieces of chocolate, as well as snacks to clear the palate between teas. We learned about tea and how its harvested, as well as the processing of tea. We also learned about the tea flavor wheel and identified tea tasting notes in the sampled teas. I do wish there was more of a compare and contrast between the teas - it would have been cool to try the same teas but early vs late season, or tea processed similarly but from different regions. I have been meaning to write a review about them for about six months now but it's one of those things where you have so much to say because there's such an amazing business that I'm procrastinating because I wanna make sure that my review truly reflects how great the experience is and how good the tea is and how genuinely good the owners are. I wanna be able to give all those details that convinces you that you need to go now and experience it yourself. So this tea shop is exactly like a coffee shop but instead of specializing in coffee, they specialize in tea. So you'll find an entire wall of all these different teas that you can try, you can also make them into tea lattes and all these specialty drinks that I don't have the memory to recall and include in this review. You'll just have to look it up or go and have them explain it to you One thing that's really nice is that if you don't know if a tea is going to be one that you'll truly enjoy, they'll let you smell it so you get a really strong understanding if you like it or not. It's done really nice where it feels like a place you do want to spend your time in. The service is always great because they really wanna help you find the right tea because they all absolutely love tea And they know all about it. On a lot of the weekends they will have "tea flights" that are super reasonable in price and get you to try five different teas. It's fun and a way to potentially find even more teas to enjoy. In my photos I included pictures of one of the tea flights that you could get on a given weekend. I often reach out to a friend to see if they wanna go do the tea flight experience with me since it's just a more unique thing to do. So what this ultimately means is that I've introduced a ton of my friends to this business and they all love it as much as I do including their delicious teas Their tea lattes are especially good so if you've never had one, it's definitely worth trying Another thing worth noting is that they're only two blocks from the waterfront so it's fun to grab a tea and walk down and enjoy the water Also because they're in downtown Kirkland where there's a ton of restaurants, it's nice to wander over after having a good meal to have some good tea You can enjoy your tea there or you can get it to go. They have a great loyalty program as well The owner seem like truly good and humble people and are very friendly and of course extremely knowledgeable And of course I should mention that you can get any of these teas iced as well. LizzyKate had been a long time Kirkland bookmark for several years. It even outlasted the bubble tea spot I had visited in the vicinity. I was finally able to visit LizzyKate on a late Friday afternoon (10/25/24). Clearly a popular meeting place. Tea enthusiasts, whether a regular or a first time visitor, all are welcome! Vast selection of teas on display and reminiscent of spots I've visited in Seattle and Edmonds. LizzyKate enables tea to be approachable due to very welcoming and knowledgeable staff. The varieties and blends spans two walls of the retail shop. There are also additional eye catching merch. Note to self - need to return for unique holiday gift shopping. I was able to sample onsite three brewed teas: white butterscotch, pumpkin spice chai, and stress relief. Information was also provided regarding ingredients, caffeine content, volume, steeping time and recommended temperature. In addition, this was an opportunity to sample onsite three distinct chocolate bars with the above teas. This allowed to note various flavor profiles based on the combinations consumed together. The chocolate samples were Kyoto ceremonial matcha white chocolate from Kessho, and the other two were from Raaka, green tea crunch with unroasted dark chocolate and chamomile lavender also with unroasted dark chocolate. I enjoyed this tea and chocolate tasting hosted by Yelp WA Eastside and LizzyKate. I ended up buying additional merchandise to recreate this at home. I bought the same Raaka bars listed above and also an Earl Grey one with unroasted dark chocolate. I also purchased freshly packed stoppered tubes of white butterscotch, stress relief, and tumeric chai. The sample tubes found at the wall display allows customers to see and smell the tea. I have tried LizzyKate twice now. The first time was for a hot matcha latte with almond milk and the second time was for the hot hojicha latte with almond milk. Both times, service was wonderful and I enjoyed my drinks. The quality of the tea was great! The ambiance is a nice cafe where you can meet friends or work on independent projects. The space is a little small, but the servers are accommodating and try to fit everyone who wants to sit. They also offer workshops after hours which looked inviting. I went to a Yelp Tea and Chocolate tasting and discovered a new place to have a nice cup of tea and snacks. I met the husband and wife ownership team and learned that LizzyKate has been here for over 8 years and survived COVID. While here, I purchased a 2 ounce package of the Masala Chai tea (cuz I love caffeine!) and a box of the Halloween Tea and Treat Pairing for later use. They offer a rotating flight of teas at the front counter and you can get free self refills anytime. And those front counter teas were warmed by a tea light which is the absolute first time I've ever seen tea lights in use for their original purpose! The staff informed me that the Fall and Winter are their busiest seasons and they are trying to make more Iced Tea offerings (Chai Latte anyone?) to get the business up in the other two seasons. I'm normally a coffee/espresso drinker and that likely won't change anytime soon (Yay Italy!) but I can see the benefits of an occasional nice cup of tea. I have been walking by this place for years saying "someday I will stop in here and have some tea" and I am so glad that I finally made it happen! The tea shop is cute and comfy, great ambiance and fun little surprises all around the store. I'm not big on caffeine, so I got a almond honey tea latte with oat milk and it was so good! It came out PINK from the almond in the tea and was just such a vibe. The staff is super friendly and did a great job guiding me through a few choices. They also had a 'serve yourself' tea sampling flight that I had a blast with and even went home with a few bags of loose leaf tea for myself. LizzyKate is a popular tea shop and tearoom on the Eastside. Located within the downtown Kirkland zone, they are a convenient location to shop all things tea, including tea gadgets and teapots. While they have oodles of loose tea leaves available (which I prefer over tea bags), I don't tend to buy loose tea leaves from them as they are more expensive than other tea shops I frequent (sorry, just the truth). What I instead buy is a hot cup of latte from them, most commonly the London Fog with Earl Grey, Vanilla, and 2% Milk in 16oz. It's a moderate latte, not too strong. I don't drink Earl Grey at home, preferring English Breakfast. This is an uncommon exception that I enjoy when someone else makes it. They also have self-service flights of tea, sometimes paired with chocolate. The shop is cute, small but also just big enough to hang-out for a bit. The inside tends to be quiet, which I like. What a lovely little tea/coffee shop. A delightfully aesthetic interior, with a yummy menu offering both iced and hot options. I got the iced Cuckoo for Coconut and my boyfriend got the iced London fog. It was so hard to choose what to order, everything sounded delicious. My coconut was soft, flavorful, and refreshing. His London fog was perfectly creamy while the tea flavor still showed through. I noticed there was a sign during check out that they add a 15% tip to every credit card order unless you explicitly state otherwise... I was a little taken aback by reading that. I recognize they do not feel comfortable letting customers interact with the POS interface, but I feel it would be better practice to ask the customer if they would like to tip rather than sneaking it on there. The woman leading the class was so nice and really worked with our schedule which I really appreciated! It fills a void of good tea place on eastside with good selection of teas but the actual drinks could use a bit of work. I tried two teas and 3 drinks. Masala spice tea, truffle black tea both hot. And masala spice tea in latte drink. There is no fancy cups for the teas- which i enjoy in other places Now hot tea without milk was fine but what can go wrong here...steep tea in hot water and voila. The tea itself was okay...i dint see why the truffle tea was named so but maybe i just have sandpaper for my tongue. Masala spice was good...but not strong enough...but i see people liking it. The latte was just soooo damn milky...now I have chai latte everyday and I think what may have gone wrong is they made the same strength of tea like hot water based tea (we ordered extra shot) and then added milk not accounting for addition of fluids...so it just dulled the tea flavor for me a lottt. Maybe increasing the tea when making latte will balance the drink. Also....quite quite pricy....but demand-supply dictates they can get away with it until someone else decides to put up anotger shop. read more

This is a much more serious style yes shop with a crazy impressive wall of teas. I ordered a medium rose tea and it was amazingly aromatic and wonderful! They maker their teas with a fancy machine, and they were very willing to talk about their teas. This time I only got a regular hot tea but they have tea lattes and apparently have a list of non dairy milk I could have so next time I will definitely try a tea latte! I loved everything about this tea shop. Lovely decor. Fair pricing. Knowledgeable staff and an excellent selection of teas. $5 for a flight of 5 tasty teas from black to green to herbal. However the specific variety of those teas were new to me. They give you a cup and you can return to multiple rounds of the ones you like. The Japanese dessert was a treat to the eyes and mouth. Definitely returning next time I am in Kirkland. BTW I parked 2.5 hours in a 2 hour parking spot - my friend was a little late meeting me - and I got a parking ticket even though it was a winter day and not crowded in downtown Kirkland. Oh well. Wow wow wow!!! My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience at LizzyKate last week. We were on a walk for coffee and decided to try this place instead and get a tea. I love coffee, but I think I am slightly more of a tea person -- matcha and chai specifically. This place is a heaven for tea lovers!!! SO many different options. From caffeinated to non-caffeinated, hot tea to iced tea, black tea to green tea, etc. They also have alternative milks and options of sweeteners to add to your drink. I got an iced almond milk matcha with honey and my boyfriend got an iced almond milk chai with honey. We both LOVED our drinks. They use all natural teas which is amazing. No added sugar or ingredients like some other coffee shops. :) The service was wonderful and the inside of the place is SO clean and bright. I recently stumbled upon LizzyKate, a cute tea house nestled in downtown Kirkland - and I'm glad I did! It's a bright, welcoming shop with cans of aromatic tea displayed on their back wall. I ordered a hot Chai, consisting of masala chai tea, honey and vanilla almond milk. It wasn't too sweet, which was perfect for my taste! My mom ordered a hot Cinful, which had cinnamon spice tea (using 3 different types of cinnamon), vanilla and 2 percent milk. It was quite sweet, but nonetheless, delicious! With over 100 varieties of tea to choose from, I'll definitely come back to try their other options! LizzyKate has something for everyone - whether you prefer a fruitier, floral tea or a strong herbal tea. You can choose to have your tea iced or hot, or made into a tea latte with different milk alternatives! For anyone who loves tea - then you MUST visit LizzyKate! They have every kind of flavor you'd ever want, as staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help you find a concoction you'll love. All of the flavors are listed on the canisters, which are all placed on the back wall and staff is happy to get any of the canisters down so you can first smell the tea leaves before committing to one. All of the drinks can be made hot or iced and they do have an option for tea lattes, with regular milk or milk alternatives. They also have tea tastings and special events, like tea pairings with cheese or Girl Scout cookies! The website has a calendar of all the events listed. (I gotta start going to these!) I should also mention that the best part of LizzyKate is that it's dog-friendly! It's one of the few places in Kirkland that allow you to bring your dog inside, which is always a huge plus for dog parents. There are a few tables inside, but space is small - so can get full if busy.
