I deal with one of the managers, Susan, who is one of the kindest, friendliest and most professional managers around. The store has been around for 37 years. Susan has been a manager here for 20 years and it shows in her demeanor and efficiency. If you have clothing or other items, she buys stuff from you to sell in her store. The address is 607 S. Coast Highway 101. Hours are Monday - Friday 10am-7pm, Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 6pm. You'll leave here with many bargains and a smile on your face. Heads up. How do you rate a thrift store? By what they have? By what you find? I dunno, but I came out with at least one item and tried on about 6 which beats most of my trips so I guess this is a good one. The lady is mostly interested in surf clothes but that doesn't mean that's all she has. It makes me sad to see the reviews of how rude the owner is. This is absolutely not true!! She is awesome and very friendly. Always willing to help find what you are looking for and if she doesn't carry it will do her best to find it elsewhere and bring it in for you. Great selection of clothing and all sorts of other stuff. I live kinda far from her now so don't get in to often but I always return every Halloween when I'm looking for a costume as she always has the best selection. First visit was not long ago and found this place pretty hip. It is small and kinda packed in there, but most thrift stores are! Liked it a lot, got a brand new Nixon fedora for about ten bucks! Sold a women's wetsuit and men's Rockport shoes which were about to be donated. Was in the area so stopped by and walked out with $22 in bonus cash. The woman who was working there was by herself and seemed slightly frazzled when another seller came in. However, she was very polite and helpful. read more

I am always thrilled to shop and sell here. The owner is always friendly, and they take such a wider variety of clothing than Buffalo Exchange or other consignment shops. Everything is inexpensive, but I felt I was given a fair amount for the clothes I sold. This is definitely my number one thrift shop in North County! read more

Love it. Super cute store with INCREDIBLE finds. Here's a couple things I bought: super cute polka dot mini-jacket and a dress that my honey says makes me look like a Bavarian bar maid. GREAT. I've been a loyal customer to Thrifty Threads for 6 years. I get everything there. Shoes, Shirts, Tanks, Jackets, Pants...like I said everything. I've found True Religion Jeans there for as cheap as $29.00 They have brands from Abercrombie and Fitch to Rockin and Republic They have Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirts and they always have the skate brands that my boyfriend wants, like...nomis, lrg, dc and volcom. I would highly recommend this store to anyone who want great designer clothes at really discounted prices. btw they buy clothes for cash its awesome even though most of the time I end up spending the money i get. read more

I can't stress enough how down to earth and caring the gal that works in thrifty threads is! I just finished selling her all kinds of clothes men's and women's. She gave me such a fair deal with everything I didn't bargain one bit. I just wish everyone could be as friendly as she was today. Great place to buy new shoes, hats, belts and flannels. I can spend hours in a thrift shop without finding anything I like, but I walked into this tiny place with only 10 minutes to hunt for something I like, and I found a shirt and a Forever 21 jacket that I love immediately, and for good prices, too. The store is definitely cramped and not huge in terms of selection, but the clothing you can find here is pretty good, especially if you're into looking for unusual thrift store clothing. Prices are pretty typical for thrift shop fare, but many places are starting to become more expensive while this store has remained at pretty reasonable prices. read more

It's a thrift store not a boutique but if you've ever encountered the owner then you would think differently. She is rude and blunt which isn't quality customer care. Worst customer service ever! Worst thrift store ever as well. I walked in with a bag of clothes, most were in very good condition and some still had the tags on them. While waiting in line for the person in front me selling her clothes, I listened as the owner made rude and unprofessional remarks to the woman. I was finally greeted and addressed after I had been standing there for 10 minutes. She asked what I needed and I told her I had a huge bag of clothes I was hoping she would take a look at. She had no response to that and went back to talking to the woman in front of me. I went to the car and brought in the bag of clothes I had and before I could set it down, the owner told me no. She said I won't be going through all of that, it's too much. She didn't get a chance to even look inside and see what I had. She started stating jackets were out of season and she was only looking for board shorts and tee shirts. I told her that I had no jackets and that they were mostly tee shirts and pants. I don't know why she assumed I had brought jackets, but she didn't care when I corrected her and told her I had what she was looking for. She told me next time narrow it down to items she is looking for. I'm sorry but I am not a mind reader and I don't know what items you're looking for. There definitely will not be a next time, ever! Rudest woman ever. She proceeded to tell me random facts about what was hip and cool, while pointing to outdated brands that people don't wear anymore. If you have anything to sell, save your time and skip her crappy shop. If no stars was an option, that would be the amount given. There is a much better thrift store in walking distance with a very nice staff, community resource center. They don't buy clothes but they excel in customer service, thrifty threads should take notes. read more

Ok, so I gave them 2 stars because the selection can be alright. Now the lady that works there......actually I believe she owns it, is horrible. I went there twice this month, thinking maybe I just misjudged her, or she had diarrhea of the mouth that day or something, lol. Ok, so the first time I went I was by my self. I grabbed several pairs of shorts to try on. Well she (rude owner lady) says to me " oh no, those aren't going to fit you! Now I'll have to put them all back!" I was slightly shocked. Yes I'm a little " fluffier " than usual and maybe I slightly Underestimated my true size, but jeez" rude! I'm a size 3 or 5 and most of the shorts were in my size range, maybe a bit smaller. Well, I laughed it off and ended up purchasing a pair of the shorts, along with several other items from her store. Well, one of the items I bought was a shirt for my husband and when I brought it home for him and explained the concept where you can trade in old clothes for other old clothes (lol), he wanted to go check it out, so we gathered some junk and headed back a week or so later. Well the rude lady was ther again. She managed to buy every single absolutely heinous item from the lady in front of us. I was sure our stuff would be perfect for the store, as we had all brand names with tags, and I had just seen her purchase the worst of what 1970 had to offer. But I was wrong, instead she balked at each item and made rude remarks, like " no one wears urban brands anymore" lol, what does that even mean. Urban brands?no one wears Addidas!? Since when? Hmm, well I'm pretty sure they do, but it's ok, we donated the clothes and Will never go back. She should have not said anything except that she was passing on the clothes, not a bunch of rude comments. Sad, because I had been going there since jr high school! read more

Make it a habit to buy and shop locally, but this place is a disaster. The owner is rude, crude, and has the charisma of a cornered rat. Her customer service is not lacking, it's non-existent. Most of the clothes look worn and dirty. I try to give a place three tries, gave this one four but NO more. First I was told they deal only in "surf" attire, second time found the shop cluttered and haphazard, passed by the night of the holiday parade the third time and picked up an "ugly" sweater from a helpful young girl, tried to return it a few days later w/o wearing it (price tag still attached) and owner offered me $7--paid $25! I don't mind a discounted return, but really? At any rate she cursed and squawked at me saying "you bought it, you bought it" until I asked her if she ever had repeat customers...I think not. Goodwill is a far better bet. And please, do NOT think this woman is representative of North County. read more
