I would strongly caution anyone considering Three Tiki Sailing for an important or meaningful event. My husband, sister, and I booked a private charter with Three Tiki at least two months in advance for a dual ash scattering for our brother and grandmother. This was not a casual boat ride. We had approximately 45 family members scheduled to be on the boat for the ash scattering, with about 80 additional family members waiting at our reserved picnic location afterward to join us for the Celebration of Life. Family traveled from Washington, California, Nevada, Texas, Molokai, Maui, and the Big Island specifically for this weekend. We also had a minister, photographer, videographer, and approximately $1,500 in catering arranged around this memorial. I had communicated with Three Tiki in advance and received no indication that there was any concern with our charter. Every other vendor involved had confirmed with us. Then, less than TWO HOURS before our scheduled departure, while we were already driving toward Honolulu, I received a TEXT--not even a phone call--from the receptionist telling me our private charter had been canceled. I had to call them myself to understand what was happening. I was in tears trying to figure out what we were supposed to do with 45 people expecting to board the boat and another 80 family members gathering afterward, many of whom had traveled across multiple states and islands specifically for this occasion. I asked whether we could go later that afternoon and was told they would check with the captain, but likely not because of rough conditions. By this point, we were at Ala Wai Harbor and could physically see other boats and catamarans going out and returning. I later received a call saying essentially that boats were grounded and that we could not rebook until Monday. Sunday was also presented as unavailable because of conditions. That made even less sense to us because some family members were leaving Sunday and Monday, and stormier weather was expected afterward. We had no choice but to continue with the Celebration of Life at Ala Moana Beach Park, including the blessing of the ashes, while scrambling to figure out whether we would even be able to complete the ash scattering our family had traveled so far to attend. By the grace of God, I was able to find another private charter for the following morning. That company stepped in and gave our family the experience we should have had from the beginning. What made this situation even more upsetting was learning afterward that the replacement charter company had reportedly operated multiple tours on the same day we were told conditions had essentially grounded boats. A week later, while on another catamaran, we were also told by that captain that they had gone out that day. We personally watched other charters operating from the harbor as well. I completely understand that ocean conditions change and that a captain must always prioritize safety. I would NEVER expect a captain to take passengers out when conditions are unsafe. What I cannot accept is the way Three Tiki handled this: virtually no notice, a text cancellation for an incredibly significant family event involving more than 100 family members, little empathy, no meaningful alternative, and explanations that did not seem consistent with what we were witnessing around us. This was one of the most emotional days our family has ever experienced. I was on the phone crying, trying to save a memorial that had taken months to coordinate, and I never felt that Three Tiki understood--or cared about--the magnitude of what their last-minute cancellation meant to our family. Everything ultimately worked out, but only because another charter company was willing to help us at the last minute. For a sunset cruise or casual outing, people can make their own decision. But if you are booking something deeply meaningful, time-sensitive, or involving family traveling long distances, I would personally never trust Three Tiki Sailing with it. We will never book with them again, and after this experience, I cannot recommend them to anyone. read more

The crew is incredibly chill, and we had a blast talking shop about their boat--it felt like hanging out with friends who have similar interests rather than just a tour. Came here on the recommendation of a friend. Right out of the docks behind Chart House, this couldn't be closer to home! Pay for parking (follow directions on the sign for up to 3 hours $1/hr). Sign in with the crew and then head down the dock to the boat. Take off your shoes and board. Easy as pie. Ship starts out of the harbor right on time. Captain introduces the crew and gives a safety briefing, then you're free to just sit back and enjoy the ocean views and have a great time. Weather was perfect! Sunny, but not too hot, nice winds, and blue skies. We saw some whales, a few flying fish, and an amazing sunset in the duration of two hours. Everyone was so nice and we had the best time! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun way to spend a few hours on the water. read more

It was a rough day at sea, crew was friendly but not overly attentive to the passengers. We did see some whales The rough seas made it hard to follow but the crew did a good job. One disappointing thing, which we found common this trip, is no hawaiian music instead music is the same tunes you hear anywhere. What we loved about Hawaii on our previous trips was that you were always hearing someone playing the ukulele reminding you that you're in the islands. Fun little sail trip with some snorkeling. Never snorkeled? It's all good, they made it real easy especially for someone like me that has never done it before. It was cool seeing fish and turtles so up close in the open water. It was like being inside an aquarium. If you decide to book a trip, be sure to look for the signs of where to meet. During my snorkeling experience I swam into some tentacles from a Portuguese man o' war. My entire arm was swollen, and I was in horrific pain. I was also impacted on my leg and hand. My partner was also stung above her lip. They threw a bottle of vinegar at me and told to me put it on the infected area. I now know this is not a correct thing to do. Never once did anyone ask me how I was doing. The crew is kids and more concerned about the tip jar then the safety of their passengers. This is not my first time snorkeling but its the first time I have experience a crew so careless with the safety of their passengers. read more

This review is slightly overdue. We went out with Three Tiki Sailing a couple weeks ago, and had an amazing time! Meeting point is at Pau Hana Place over by the Prince Waikiki Hotel, which is a spacious deck with lots of seating, games, fire pit, and a couple yummy food trucks. There's plenty of cheap parking around the Ala Wai Harbor as well. For our sail we had Captain Drew and Captain Thomas, as well as crew mates Jack and Sophia. They were all very friendly, and checked in with everyone throughout the trip to see if we were comfortable or needed a drink. Water is complimentary on board, and otherwise it's BYOB. They have a cooler of ice where you can store your drinks too. The boat was spacious and clean with a lot of places to sit and spread out, including a couple netted areas to sit up front, and there's a bathroom on board. Overall my friend and I had a lovely sunset sail and we couldn't thank them enough! I would highly recommend them to anyone. I've been on a lot of sail charters and I will say this is one of my top company's I have been on. Professional, clean, and contagious positive attitudes! A smaller operation, but big in value. It felt like a private charter even though it was pFor comparison there was another large pink vessel that came to the reef about an hour after us and they were packed to the gills!
