Maitai catamaran is by far the best value water tour in Waikīkī. I have ridden this boat at least a dozen times as well as a few others. Hands down, Maitai wins. Service is fabulous! Ryan and Jenna keep us well stocked on maitais, which are cheap and delicious. Both Dustin and Ian are excellent hosts. The ride is 90 minutes of incredible views, great music, and meeting a whole bunch of strangers from all over the world who are having a great time on the sea. We've seen whales, dolphins, honu, and flying fish. I've been out in 6 kt winds to 30 kt winds with 40 kt gusts. The ride is always great. I highly highly recommend this tour. It has never disappointed me. Pro tip: Ride in the front for the best splashes! Or hide in the back if you're a water weenie. read more

The best part of visiting a tropical location like Hawaii for me is to get out on the water. We were staying at the Sheraton Waikiki and discovered that the Mai Tai Catamaran left from the little beach next to the restaurant. We took the 3:00 sailing on a Wednesday and it was perfect! The cost was $60 for adults and less for our 12 year old. There were just 8 guests, the four in our party and one other group. We sailed out towards Diamond Head and then turned around. The drinks flowed freely on this Happy Hour cruise (just $20 more). Plenty of Mai Tais, with options for beer, wine, and sodas. The captain (Ryan?) and his crewmate, Jenna, took very good care of us. We saw a group of dolphins leaping from the water, which added to our enjoyment. The location was very convenient and the cruise was hands down the best part of our time in Oahu! Donovan and Kia did a fantastic job on the short 90min cruise from the channel in front of Sheraton out to Diamond Head and back. Lingered around "turtle canyon" for a few minutes to catch a glimpse of turtles and watch tourists splash about. We enjoyed the view with a tasty $6 maitai in hand. Not the strongest but it did the trick. Passengers allowed to stand at the front for maximum splash. Found a decent deal on Groupon but their prices are fair. The following review is specific to Hula's Catamaran Experience which sets sail on the Maita'i Catamaran every Saturday at 3PM. Just so you know, you don't have to be gay to board this gay booze cruise - though it might get lonely as the passengers get more inebriated and handsy. Jamie W. and I had been to Hula Bar & Lei Stand a few times (review: https://yelp.to/m7tBmjPOPz), but we didn't know they offered a scenic 90-minute cruise on this catamaran for just $30. We found out about it on YouTube through the Two Gay Expats. Their video completely sold us, so we bought tickets a couple of weeks in advance. We were instructed to meet at Hula where we followed our gregarious host like the Pied Piper up Kalakaua Avenue to the beach outside the Sheraton Waikiki. There were about forty of us, including three straight couples who unsurprisingly kept to themselves in a corner of the boat. The rest of us were mingling as the pilot steered the boat toward Diamond Head. Views were great and from a unique angle for Jamie and me. What helped immeasurably was the endless supply of $6 Mai Tais. There was quite a variety of ages among the passengers from geriatric horn dogs to near-naked young party boys. Shirts were doffed but gratefully nothing more. Jamie and I are not natural frolickers, but we managed to socialize with surprising abandon, especially as our mai tai consumption escalated. By the time we came back to the beach, we were surprised we could stand up. They gave us coupons for complimentary cocktails back at Hula. Yeah, like we really needed them. Such a fun time! You have to do this at least once. My family went out on the 5 PM sunset cruise (2 adults and 3 kids ages 11, 8 and 6) and we all enjoyed ourselves. Our kids said it was the best thing that we did during our recent trip and they kept asking to do it again. Beautiful views, fun boat ride, friendly knowledgeable captain and deckhand. Our captain was Ian and the deckhand was Jenna. They had outgoing, bubbly personalities and made everyone feel welcome and safe. I would do this again for sure. Totally worth it. We had a great time on the Maita'i Catamaran. We were staying at the near by Royal resort so it was a quick walk down to get to the check in. Our afternoon ride was an hour and a half long. We got lucky and saw a few sea turtles swimming about as we road by, the coast guard was out keeping an eye on some whales out in the area that day. We heard once in a while when whales are spotted in the area you might get a chance to see them blow air out from the water, to bad our visit one of those days. Overall it was a fun experience, the crew was very nice and helpful, it's definitely worth trying. read more

We booked a spontaneous, last minute Catamaran ride through the phone and they were able to fit our group of 8 in. It's a great way to sail the open sea with no agenda besides wind, water, and air for 90 minutes. Meet up location is at the Sheraton Waikiki. The best part of the ride for me was the awesome crew. I started to feel a bit nauseous because the catamaran ride was too choppy for me, but Kia was wonderful and kept checking on me to make sure I was okay, and even gave me several cups with ice to chew. She said it helps with nausea. Such a kind human - thank you, Kia!! They have drinks on board too like their mai tai which is made out of fresh fruit for only $3-5 (cash only)! Maitai Catamaran was highly recommended by my friend, so I decided to book a sunset sail last minute. Unfortunately, the 5pm one was fully booked so I opted for the next best thing, the Afternoon Delite Sail at 3pm. This is a 90 minute sail that includes open bar for $79/person. The whole reservation process was pretty easy over the phone and we were requested to check-in at the Sheraton Waikiki 15 minutes before sailing. The staff were very friendly and started pouring everyone mai tais once we were at sea. We saw some sea turtles too! The only downside of my sail was that someone got extremely sick at sea and was throwing up directly in front of me into a bucket. I saw EVERYTHING and was scared of splash damage. It's no one's fault but it kinda affected the rest of the sail. read more

The Sunset Mai Tai Cruise (aka booze cruise) is a good idea for locals or tourists alike! Set sail in Waikiki for great views of Diamond Head as you sip on unlimited mai tais, beer, wine and drinks. The view is unreal and such a fun thing to do with friends. Keep in mind that the water can be a little rocky! It's the open ocean so depending on the day, you can encounter some real choppy waves. It's also a small boat so you feel the ocean more easily. But it's a lot of fun and worth doing! read more

Booked this catamaran boat ride on Groupon with my family. The service was great! They had $5 mai tai's on the boat ride! Everything went seamlessly. The day that we went, it was a bit windy, but that didn't stop us from the fun! Pro-tip: If you get sea sick easily, I'd advise to take a Dramamine before getting on a catamaran as the waves/ocean can be unpredictable. The ride was about an hour and just took us around the ocean. We were picked up from a local hotel and even got a chance to see the Diamond head on our boat ride. The guys hosting us on the boat seemed genuinely happy to be there and were happy to help answer any questions we had. Overall a very nice and relaxing experience on the island! read more

We booked Catamaran after seeing the Catamaran at Infinity Edge Pool in Sheraton. We didn't know that the booking area is on the side of Sheraton. We booked online. Nevertheless, we were anle to book for the following day at 1pm. $6 for Maitai. $5 for beer. $3 for soda. The captain is awesome and so is the assistant? Both of them took care of us. Basically, you go out in the ocean/sea for 90 minutes. On the way back, we did see a turtle but it was quick. Definitely enjoyed the scenery. If you want to get wet, sit in the front. However, you may still get wet anywhere you sit. Definitely a great experience. Will definitely do this again. read more
