These guys would get 10 stars if I could rate them that high. What an overall amazing experience for me and my family. This is an all inclusive sailing snorkeling, and lunch event with amazing staff. You can be picked up at your hotel if you are in Waikiki or drive out to the pier. Recommend you get there a little early as parking can be limited as the day gets busier. Luckily, we came on a day where it was about half the normal capacity so we had room to spread out on the ship. The staff gave a very entertaining intro and safety brief. First stop was the sandbar. They provide his struggles and beach volleyball. We opted to just snorkel around the sandbar. Such a cool feeling to be out in the middle of the ocean and standing with water only as high as your knees. After spending time there, we started our way to a coral reef, but on the way we got to see a bunch of green sea turtles swimming next to us. What a cool opportunity! Probably my favorite part was the coral reef that we visited next. The water was so clear and blue and there were so many tropical fish swimming around the reef. I even captured a sighting of a reef tip shark on my underwater camera. Don't worry, they are harmless. Captain Maka was an amazing host. He was so patient with my kid and took time to show him the ropes and let him hang out with him on the bridge as he was navigating to each spot. The crew makes lunch. They literally barbecue hamburgers on the ship as you are out having fun snorkeling. And by the time you get back on board, the food is all cooked and you get to enjoy an amazingly delicious lunch on the ship as it made it its way to the next spot. Not going to lie, I was participating bc it was a group activity our friends wanted to do. Though I have always wanted to go out to the Sandbar, it was our last day here and I wanted to do all the last minute things this trip. But, I am so glad we went! It was THE BEST time! Even with gloomy skies, and predicted rain, we all enjoyed ourselves. The crew was amazing and definitely made a difference in the experience. Our captain Maka made us all feel right at home instantly and felt as if we were all old friends. Julia, Akiko and Cody were so hospitable and friendly and made the experience so enjoyable. We were even able to recruit Cody to play volleyball with us! They keep the itinerary booked from cruising out to the sandbar, to playing volleyball, having a freshly prepared lunch onboard, to snorkeling out in the reef, having a hot cocoa break, and seeing the surrounding sites. It was so fun! And ofc you cannot beat the views in Kaneohe Bay! the KoOlaus are my fave and to see them from the water is even more breathtaking. The communication was top tier from the welcome orientation to giving us instructions and information on the sandbar and also snorkeling. Julia was always great with giving us info. We appreciated the lifeguard signals for while out on the reef too. The vessel is clean and well maintained. The bathroom onboard is cleaner than the ones at the dock too. Spacious for everyone to move about and gather. They have their own private area in the sandbar so there is no competition with other tour companies. We were able to coordinate roundtrip hotel pickup to/from Waikiki also which made it seamless. Pick up both ways was prompt and in a sizeable air conditioned coach. 10/10 experience that I'm so glad I finally checked off the list, and would do again with Captain Bob's. read more

41 people on the boat so not overly loaded. Problem only the captain and 2 crew to help all the passengers. They told us that there was strong tide around the reef. This was not true. I think it was to discourage novice snorkelers from wandering far from the boat. There was no way to quickly get to someone if they were having problems. Lunch was hamburgers and a vegetarian option. I don't recommend this trip even though the crew on board were pleasant. They did say that they were short staffed but that should not affect the cruise for the people who did the picnic sail. Maybe lower the passenger numbers if not adequate crew members. read more

I've been on multiple catamaran snorkeling excursions and this is by far the best one i've been on. The crew was fun, professional, and knowledgeable about not only Hawaii's rich culture and history but about the ocean and safety procedures to ensure a great experience. Captain Mako, Tyson, Cody, and the translator whos names is missing me right now were so awesome. I felt like I was with my family and felt comfortable, and that's important to me as i'm kind of terrified of the ocean haha. I have to say this tour was amazing and such a great highlight of our Oahu experience. Let me start by saying that the tour bus is absolutely beautiful well air-conditioned clean and make several stops so you don't have to walk to far from your hotel to meet up with them. Everything was done efficiently and on time. As an added bonus, on our way up to the actual boat, one of the tour guides who was on the bus gave us so much history and pointed out really cool spots along the drive to the bay. It was amazing my kids ,husband and loved it we found out that The highway we were on cost $16 million to make which was roughly $1 million per mile, and he just kept pointing out all kind of historic sites along the scenic drive up. Now once we reached our destination, there were two different tour guides that would take us to boat and care for our needs while there. There was one guide specifically assigned for the English speakers and another guide specifically assigned for the Japanese tourist. I love that they did that making sure that everybody felt included and important . Oh and let me not forget, before our tourwe received a call now I have gluten allergies and we received a call ahead of time where they just wanted to let my husband know that they ordered a special veggie burger just for me to make sure that I wouldn't have any gluten reactions to the food that they provided even though I just said no it's gonna be OK. I'll I'll just figure something else out. But they insisted it wasn't a problem . They were so accommodating when I got on the boat I didn't have to say anything several different crew members just kept coming up and asking "hey did you happen to get your veggie burger "and then the guide that was in charge of the English speakers Sasha she was so wonderful. She helped me to feel more comfortable about the fact that I was having a veggie burger and added that she always eat them and it was absolutely delicious. They serve burgers and baked beans and all the spread and there were free non alcoholic beverages for free and for a very reasonable price, you can get alcoholic beverages. Even my very finicky eating Son loved the way the burgers taste they look so juicy and delicious. The service on the boat was impeccable. They were so attentive to everyone's needs not just my own. I had noticed that there was one gentleman who was very nervous and honestly didn't really feel comfortable getting in the water I watched the gentleman and the ladies that were working on the boat helping him snd encouraging and comforting him. And it wasn't just t him. I watched how they interacted with different people just walking around checking in with us at all times. They noticed and paid attention to everyone and not in a you're bothering us. I just wanna make my money away, but in a very friendly and caring way in which everyone felt quite comfortable and seen. But the biggest highlight for me was being able to sit back and talk with captain Mike he was amazing. He offered to give us such great history of the island of Oahu and the richness of the culture there, I just appreciated how warm welcoming and authentic everybody was on this trip it was such a blessing. The food was delicious. The staff was kind the boat was clean they even offered you a nice warm cup of hot cocoa at the end or tea. I would highly recommend if you were considering doing a snorkel cruise go with Captain Bob's tour it's amazing. They think of everything they even take you to this little sandbar area for about an hour or so to allow you and your family to practice snorkeling for a while so you can get comfortable with it. Everything you need is provided on that boat. I just wanna say thank you so much to all of the crew members that took us out for my son's birthday on October 25 it was amazing that experience really blessed our trip and I hope to return next year. read more

We booked a 6 hour experience to the sandbar during our trip to Oahu and had a great time! Pick up and drop off in Waikiki is provided as part of the experience - we had to walk a bit to get to our pick up and drop off location but the bus was new, great AC, comfy seats. Ride to the pier took about 45 min through the mountain, the pier itself and boat weren't anything too impressive but the crew was super friendly and a great time. Lunch was included and it was a burger and some sides - there is a vegetarian option. Sadly the pineapple was not fresh and this was a bit disappointing but food was ok all considering. Alcoholic Drinks are available for purchase $5 each and included beers, hard seltzers and boxed wine. If using a credit card, $20 4 drink minimum purchase. First stop was to the sandbar - crew set up a volleyball net and took pics for everyone. Next we motored our a bit and saw some epic turtles. Then we continued to a reef area for snorkeling - definitely the best snorkeling we've ever done - coral had a ton of tropical fish and turtles. Overall, we were a bit sad the experience didn't include any SUP or kayaking but overall it was a fantastic day trip, great crew and definitely worth the price (we booked directly on the website for $161/pp) read more

The picnic sail was a lot of fun. Our original sail date was rainy so I sent an email a couple days before asking to reschedule. They were very accommodating and we ended up going on a Friday instead of originally scheduled Monday. Pick up from a hotel next door was vey convenient and quick. The bus was comfy. Driver was excellent. The boat was nice. Service was great. Food was good. Crew was super friendly, helpful and had great customer service. Shout out to Mike for serving drinks and chatting with us. One of the best tours we did in Oahu! We booked this tour not knowing what to expect and it delivered. Worth the $$! Our group consisted on my parents (74, and 72), my husband and daughter (2 years old). They were beyond accommodating to all ages. My mom has mobility challenges and it's very hard for her to walk and they really helped her have a great time by making sure she was safe, helping her get up and down the stairs of the boat, and checking in and making sure she was okay in the water. She was even able to get in the water and sit in her tube and live her best grandma life...truly and amazing memory my family won't forget. We also traveled with our two year old who was also able to sit in my tube and/or wear a life vest in the water. We floated in the sandbar... Ahhhmazing, saw tons of sea turtles, snorkeled at a reef and saw tons of fish, and they even provided a fantastic lunch. Can't say enough good things about the staff and crew. Everyone was beyond knowledgeable and made us feel so safe. If your considering booking this tour just do it. It'll probably be your best day on the island. Pro tip: Byodo-In Temple is 16 minutes away. Go there after the tour and then have dinner at Haleiwa Joes 8 minutes from temple. Best day ever :-) read more

This is our second time using Captain Bobs to check out the sandbar. This time we brought 21 family members. To enjoy the sandbar. Jenner picked us up from our hotel in Waikiki. It's great because they have a shuttle. Jenner was a great tour guide and he can also sing. This time around the ocean wasn't calm and it was windy. But the whole family still enjoyed their time on the sandbar. The lunch was also great. The burgers was freshly grilled on the boat. After lunch we went to go look for turtles. We saw like 6 but I rather swim with them. We got to the reefs and abundant of coral fishes waiting for us. We saw tons but I swam around but didn't see any turtles this time around. This is the 2nd time we used them, 1st time when our daughter was 18 months old and now when she is almost 6 years old. We LOOOOVED every second of it. This 2nd time was even better then the first! They went above and beyond with everything! They main person (sorry I don't remember the name) took my daughter (with my approval) to introduce her to snorkeling, she was beyond happy! His son and daughter are very cool young adults and were very helpful with everything. We already wanting go back there! They also provided lunch which is very delicious, you get to choose what you want in your burger, you can get some beans on the side, salad and other stuff. They had a bunch of drinks alcoholic (available for purchase) and non alcoholic like soda and water included in the cost. My husband this time got to play the volleyball with all the crew and it was really, really cool experience. Besides the beautiful salt water fishes we saw some turtles and large stingrays! Listen up to see if this is the one for you: It is not a party boat. There is no music (there was low music in the galley where the employees are but not up where the guests are). When they say there is volleyball at the sand bar they literally mean there is one volleyball provided to pass around to each other, which people did, but no net was set up. Perhaps they would have if specifically asked though. There IS alcohol for $5 a drink. Non-alc drinks are free. If you're in Waikiki it is far - it's across to the other side of the island. It takes about 45 minutes each way on their shuttle. Staff is great and very friendly. Lunch is good. The burgers are grilled on the boat and served with baked beans and fruit cocktail with chips. It is served on the boat, not on floating surfboards as you might have seen or experienced on other sand bar boat trips. The snorkel spot is very good. Lots of diverse fish. Saw lots of turtles. I'd say it's very family friendly and nice for couples. Staff did not push for tips (although we left one & so should you). Definitely a perfect Family-friendly outdoor tourist activity when visiting Oahu!!!! Everything about this company, alongside its activity package deal and its staff is an A+. Depending on the hotel you are staying at, there will be a tour bus that does a pick up at the certain time and spot they give you. You will be looking for a person that most of the time, based on each time I go, is wearing a dull blue shirt that says "Captain Bob's Picnic Sail". They will ask for your name and confirmation number that is mostly via email. As all tourists are picked up, you are then off to Kaneohe where most of the sandbars are located. Kane'ohe is the area of Oahu that is known to be an old volcanic crater, and within the crater is the town of Kane'ohe..lol. You are entertained the entire ride to and from Kaneohe by the lovely man himself, Jenner!!! He is such a humble, funny man and knows how to keep the tourists interested. Once you arrive to the Dock, the tour bus drops of the tourists and Jenner, and you are lead to the boat where you will begin your adventure in the middle of the ocean and sand bar. There are two boats....One being filled with English speaking Tourists...the other being filled with Japanese Speaking tourists. ***You CAN change in the bathrooms when you arrive at the dock, however, I highly suggest that you arrive already fully dressed and geared for the waters because you will have little time to change...as everyone is boarding the boat. However, there is a bathroom on the boat...but it will be a struggle... Before getting off the boat, as the Captain is driving to the locations to do the activities, you will have an activity guide staff member giving you few interesting facts and rules to follow for the sake of your safety. The first stop is the Sandbar which is a shallow part of the water within the middle of the deep ocean...crazy cool right?!. This is a shallow area, therefore there is no need to learn how to swim and honestly is kid friendly. The Volleyball net gets set up and you can play Volleyball with other tourists. I don't find this an area to snorkel but you can atleast just enjoy the water and sun as you are safe within the middle of the deep ocean haha. The next stop is the reef in the deep ocean. On the way to the reef, you do a bit of turtle watching. You seek them by tthe 12. 3, 6, or 9 oclock notion. If you are one that does not know how to swim...you are fine. There are definitely life jackets and Noodle floats...In general, it is REQUIRED to wear a life jacket since you are in the deep ocean. Before leaving the boat the snorkel....The staff members have a cooked meal for you guys which is always burgers (veggie as well) that are served with beans, tortilla chips and different drinks to choose from. Alcohol and beer are served, and you pay your tab at the end of the trip. As you eat, Jenner serenades everyone with his amazing talent of guitar playing and hawaiian vibed singing. It honestly is nice as you just relax on the boat enjoying the scenic views around you. When you snorkel above the reef, it honestly is amazing. All the fishies swiming and if you're lucky....if you happen to find a Turtle, you can snorkel with them as well. I was able to witnees the infamous Hawaiian fish, The Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. It is suggested to snorkel around the big reef rather than on top of it because you possibly can step on the reef ad hurt two things....yourself, and the living reef. I honestly do not suggest little kids that are below the age of 5 or 6 to snorkel in the deep even if there is a life vest...especially an infant or baby..there is no life vest for them. You are given an HOUR to snorkel around. One you're done, the staff cleans you off with a bucket of fresh water to wash off the salt! Heading back to the dock at the end, the tour guides give fun interesting facts about different movies that have been taken place at Kane'ohe such as Jurassic Park or Lost. This honestly is the perfect package to buy and engage in as you do -Sandbar -Turtle watching -Food being served for the free (aside from alcohol $5 each) -Snorkeling for an hour The staff are so fun and friendly. You can definitely tell that this is not just a job for them but a true fun blessing because they really enjoy the waters and people. I admire people like that as they help make the experience even more fun. Heading back, you are driven by the tour bus as same as heading to Kane'ohe IT IS WORTH YOUR MONEY PEOPLE :) read more
