Makani is amazing!! We rented it as a private charter for our wedding guests and it was a great time despite bumpy waves. The crew was all so friendly and helpful, and booking it over email was easy! We chose Makani because the prices were reasonable, and they gave lots of options with food and bar, or bring your own. We ended up bringing our own snacks and drinks! It was a beautiful sunset sail and Yumi, who I was emailing with, helped me figure out the perfect time frame for our guests to enjoy the day, the sunset and the twinkling city lights on the way back. One of our guests especially loved it and bought some Makani shirts. Over the last few trips, he has requested more shirts and at this point we've bought him 5 more lol we guess he just really loves them. Erin has been so friendly, kind, fun to talk to, and has helped us buy the shirts each time- the shirts are on the boat and she's in the booth so it takes some coordinating for us to be there at the right time to get the shirts! This past time, Erin invited us to come sail again and we had such an amazing time!! Amy, Nate and Grace were awesome and kept the mood light and fun! It was raining a bit and a little rocky but as soon as someone started saying "whale whale!" everyone rushed out to look for the whale! And we ended up seeing 4!! The crew mentioned this isn't normal for us to see so many whales so we felt truly lucky that it worked out so well! It was our first time seeing whales from the water and it was incredible! This excursion is part of the GoCity Pass and was a great experience at to spend an evening. For just a $20 upgrade per person we opted for the sunset cruise that lasts 2 hours and left the harbor around 5:00pm. The three person crew made everyone feel safe and welcome though a little dry at times may have put some passengers off. The cruise comes with an open bar, however the bartender is not very heavy handed but spiked punch never hurt anyone either. At the End of the Day we got some great pics and the city was beautiful at night. I would recommend eating before you go as they don't serve food and the water could get choppy. Found them on the gocity pass and had a blast! Did the 2 hr boat ride at 11 am and it was so nice on the water. They give out instructions in email on what to expect after you book and give basic safety instructions when you get on the boat so listen and pay attention, it's not that time consuming. Snacks and food can be brought onto the boat as they have water and alcohol onboard: water free, alcohol for a fee (obviously). There's a mostly covered cabin in middle of boat for those scared or want to be sheltered, along with the restrooms. The back of the boat is more stable and there's a long bench to relax on. The front is where the party is at....i don't go into detail, keep it a surprise or maybe another reviewer has some details. Ohh and we were lucky enough to see some sea turtles! The crew are quick at pointing sea life out and will chat you up, if you like. Very friendly people. read more

What an amazing experience riding the waves on the Makani Catamaran. We got to see about 20 whale spouts which is more than we saw on a whale watch boat. Ahhhhmazing! I had the best time on this catamaran. The crew was very friendly and I'm sure that made a difference but even if they were not, Honolulu, it's just perfect. I'm totally convinced that I belong in the water, just call me Ariel from here on out. I took a 2 hr sunset cruise using a weekly city pass that I bought. The sunset cruise comes at an up charge, but it was totally worth it. Came with unlimited drinks, but at times you had to go search for a bartender. Friendly crew though so it was no issue when you found them. They really were all pretty cool. I wish I was back there right now. We actually lucked up on seeing some dolphins while on the cruise. My only mild complaint is they ask you to get there early but I was waiting so long in Oahu heat, I was starting to get irritated. After you check in, you either stand or sit outside on a bench. The ride that they arranged was on time to get there, but I had to wait after the cruise for the ride back. I asked the crew about this and they were willing to wait or call just to ensure that I returned so additional props to them for customer service. One cool lady working the boat told me she moved from Texas so we really connected since I'm from Texas. Now if only she let me stay with her a couple months. I'd move in a heartbeat. Lol just kidding, but she did give me inspiration to really move to Honolulu. I'm not gonna do it but I'm just saying when you there you want to live there! Everything is just so beautiful. This was my second time booking with the city pass and both times were spectacular! Easy to follow the directions they send to you. Got to see a few whales in the water. We used the GoCity all-inclusive pass for this activity and make sure you call them directly to make a reservation. We did the Makani Sunset Cruise and we had a blast! They were so nice to let us bring our balloons to celebrate my best friend's birthday (just make sure we don't let it get in the water) we popped them right away after we took pictures. After we took pics, we took advantage of the open bar and the drinks were strong (not that I'm complaining) LOVE LOVE it! T'was nice that they had an option to buy a $10 glass with a lid on it for clumsy guests like ME lol. Unfortunately, we did not see whales or dolphins while we were sailing but we were gifted a very beautiful sunset coming back to shore. I would definitely come back here. We took advantage of a Groupon to take visiting family on a Friday night Fireworks cruise. It was fun, brief outing which included cruise up the Honolulu skyline and view of the Fireworks at the Hilton. They offered open bar, in an hour I don't know how much I can drink onboard a boat with movement. I didn't drink our guest did. The trip was pretty smooth so as far as I know there was no chumming over the side. We had very comfort seats on big cushion on the netting on Catamaran. The skyline was very pretty as was the firework. Well worth the cost. read more

I am so glad we booked this cruise on our trip to Oahu. We arrived about 10 minutes before our cruise which ended up being perfect. We boarded on time and were welcomed on board. After a quick safety instruction we were on our way. We were fortunate that it was not a crowded cruise, about 20 people. The crew was very polite and did everything they could to make everyone comfortable. They encouraged any questions and chatted with the guests. We felt the crew were genuinely happy to have us onboard. There was plenty of seating and tables for people to relax, either in the open air or below deck. The captain stopped the boat in an area known to see sea turtles, which we were fortunate to see one. It was a little ways off, but at least we did get to see it. My son absolutely loved the cruise. When there were some rougher waves he was thrilled with the water splashing him. He could not have enjoyed himself more. There is a bar on board and they offer soft drinks as well. My son purchased a souvenir cup for $8, which had free soft drink refills. For those that did not feel well, they had plenty of buckets and lavender oil to apply to help with the sea sickness. Unfortunately I had been pretty badly sunburned so I did not feel well on this trip. I think if I would have been feeling better I would loved it even more. If I came back to Oahu, this is an experience I would definitely want to try again. read more

Very enjoyable evening. We did the sunset cruise. The boat is wonderful. We were one of the last to board so we thought we would get stuck with the worst seats. However. everyone who boarded before us sat on the benches inside and we ended up standing by the stairs. After the briefing the captain told us we could go up top for the ride. Since I was by the stairs I was the first one up and we sat right on the webbing over the water and were able to lean against the canvas cover. I was an amazing ride. Unfortunately, there was a storm rolling in for the next day so we did not see a good sunset. However, we did get to see a few whales. Drinks were provided on our package and we brought sandwiches for dinner. It was an amazing ride. I would highly recommend it. read more

We did the afternoon catamaran sailing along the Honolulu Coast past Diamond Head and Turtle Cove. It was a very relaxed sail that was not overcrowded. Josiah was great with his quick wit and willingness to help everyone, to include making sure everyone got photos of themselves while on board. It was nice to sit on the nets and relax in the sunshine. Not all catamarans allow you on the nets, so this was a pleasant way to sail. read more

We went on both the Friday fireworks trip and the Sunday afternoon sail. We loved them both. The crew was very warm, welcoming and professional. I've been on other Waikiki catamarans, but this is the best. It's bigger and you load at the pier rather than having to wade aboard from the beach. read more
