A top-notch experience! The boat crew was so friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. While the turtles are the star of the show, being surrounded by stunningly beautiful schools of colorful fish was amazing too. On our return journey the crew (Kareem, Joe, and Shannon) went out of their way for a close-up look at a spinner dolphin pod. Altogether an unforgettable trip! Do be aware that Turtle Canyon is popular and there were many other folks in the water and you might get jostled; just be aware of others. Something that impressed me was that Joe gave up his surfboard to a couple of young children who were tired, and swam around with them in tow so they could see the turtles. Captain Crash is super friendly and George his first mate genuinely nice guy and the dog Sushi comes on every sail! We did the two hours sunset cruise and they offered a fresh fruit platter, hummus with pita chips, fresh vegetables, snack size bags of potato chips, cheese, and salami and prosciutto and crackers and waters and sodas all complimentary! Captain pointed out a monk seal as well as a giant sea turtle. They took the time to feed some fish while we stopped near Diamondhead for a photo ops and sunset pictures! I'm pretty sure I've used them in the past before this trip because Captain crash was very familiar to me! I love that it's BYOB, it's the best bang for your buck for sure. I think it was $44 for a two hour sunset cruise. Another plus the boat is almost brand new , very beautiful and they only sail with 28 people even though it holds 49. highly recommend don't -miss these friendly crew. read more

Three generations of my family (from age 7 to 82!) got on the boat with the captain, his dogs, and the attentive and friendly crew. We had a great time! We swam with many turtles and enjoyed seeing Honolulu from the water. I highlighly recommend. They had floaters for anyone who wanted them so there was not any concerns about being strong enough to swim the whole time. Despite the Kona Low storm of March 2026, the snorkeling with sea turtles was worth it. The captain made sure that the ride out there and back was as smooth as possible even with the swells and rainy conditions. The staff worked really hard to make sure we were able to see some turtles and fish despite the overcast, rainy and poor water visibility. The staff was cognizant of the slightly stronger current and kept careful watch over the group. I could only imagine how much fish and turtles we would have seen had the weather and water conditions been better. I would definitely go out with them again for another tour. read more

We've always gone out with Captain Krash on the Kahala Kai catamaran and we appreciate his sense of humor and his commitment to safety and comfort (e.g. he doesn't cram the boat to the maximum legal capacity). The prices are reasonable and we've always seen a lot of fish and turtles. We have been on more snorkeling excursions than we can count and this one was one of the best and it doesn't even break the bank! We had an amazing time with Captain Crash, Carlos, Nick and last but not least, Sushi! Captain expertly piloted the boat and helped point out all of the huge turtles that were in the ocean and Carlos and Nick were super fun, informative and made sure everyone felt comfortable with all of their gear before we got into the water and while we were in the water. I had never been snorkeling before but it was amazing -- our ticket covered the boat ride, swimfins, a snorkeling mask, a vest that inflates in case you need some help staying afloat/treading water, an hour in the ocean swimming around the reef, and they even had complimentary snacks & drinks for the ride back to shore (please be sure to tip!). We had such a wonderful experience snorkeling with Oahu Catamarans! I went with my kids (ages 9 and 12), and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. We did the turtle snorkeling tour and saw dolphins, colorful fish, and several turtles up close. The whole crew: Lucy, Jorge, and Captain Karim were incredibly kind and welcoming. We actually had trouble finding the pier because I was having phone issues and couldn't access my email, so we were late and literally saw the boat leaving. I yelled, and they stopped and came back to pick us up. They were so calm and understanding about it, which I really appreciated as a stressed out parent trying to get there on time. The boat wasn't crowded at all, maybe about 15 - 18 people, it seemed roomy so it felt relaxed and spacious. They had refreshments on board, and the captain even fed the fish so the kids could see them right by the boat. Everything was clean, well organized, and just a fantastic experience overall! You are taken to an area with a lot of different tour companies showing up, but Lucy was great at helping us navigate a popular snorkeling area and having a great experience. This is our second time snorkeling with this group. Last year, our first time was amazing. This time, we can NOT recommend them. Sure turtles are guarantee, along with the other 150 people there with you. Literally, 5 other boats, all with people scrambling to see the STRESSED OUT, ABUSED sea turtles. They don't even remind guests that ONLY mineral based sunscreens are acceptable. " In Hawaii, all sea turtles are protected under both state and federal law, and it is illegal to touch, feed, or disturb them. Harassing them can result in significant fines of up to $100,000 and even jail time. You should keep a respectful distance of at least 10 feet (3 meters) from turtles on land and in the water to avoid causing them stress or harm." Captain Crash LITERALLY claimed you only had to stay 3 feet away. I even reconfirmed because I knew the law from previous snorkeling trips. One mom even told her son "Go ahead, touch him" because there was literally zero respect, not only from our tour guides , but all the catamarans in the area. Moreover, Captain Crash was miserable. Serious about safety...all for it and appreciate it. But he is miserable, barely acknowledges you when you turn in you equipment to him, AS HE ASKS YOU TO DO, not even a grunt. Anna is far too busy talking it up with all the other "guards" from other boats, only to be bothered every so often to interact. We couldn't go out of a very small zone...safety, sure, all good. So then Anna and Lucy shouldn't be swimming "out of the zone" to catch up with buddies on other catamarans. Nor should they be laughing it up, making plans, and ignoring their paying customers. If the "are service industry and work for tips" then give me reasons to tip you. Anna points out a turtle here and there, but doesn't check to see if any of the group is following. And last year she was amazing and far more engaged. Talking with our bench mates, we weren't the only ones left unimpressed and frustrated with the lack of engagement and professionalism. If you care about animals, or care about our oceans, or don't want to get shoved and kicked and pushed by 100s of others all trying to see a turtle, AVOID THIS TOUR. Garbage. read more
