We were checking out Three Rivers while exploring Sequoia Forest and Kings Canyon…read more It's a small town, you can't help but notice 3 adorable red cottages along the river that boast ice cream and chocolate, or at least I couldn't;) The 1st shop is a Xmas gift shop all year long, the second chocolate/candy and the third is ice cream. I visited to buy chocolate twice! Walking in.... The air is made of chocolate, it is intoxicating;) The truffles were fantastic even at $5.50 each. We also picked an assortment of goodies from under the glass- priced per pound. I bought a bunch of 8$ chocolate bars as well for gifts. We weren't in the mood for ice cream when we were there, weird but true;) We will be back next time

For our second visit I had the rocky road and honey lavender. While I love lavender, I really enjoyed that this one was subtle yet flavorful. It wasn't strong. The rocky road was also delicious. I really appreciate the portion sizes here too, compared to a lot of other gelato/ice cream places.

As soon as I got to where the icecream was, I could tell that the staff here are miserable. No smile, no welcome, no nothing - just blank stares. I asked for a sample and the woman snapped at me "you can have ONE". A guy scooped my sample and then gave me my icecream without saying a word. The other guy ringing me up didn't bother making eye contact with me and seemed annoyed that I added chocolates to my purchase. The icecream is alright. The gooey treats are great. the lavender truffle was very dense, which I didn't love. If you're looking for good icecream and friendly service, skip this place. The positive reviews confuse me- maybe staff is only friendly to people who look like them. For the service we recieved, I regret giving them my money.

I know everyone love the red wine truffle, but my personal favorite is their lavender truffle. Did I forget to mention that they have sugar free chocolates too for diabetics. But on a recent Quilt shop hop, imagine my surprised to discover the Quilt store was two doors down from Stafford's. I think that was a sign that I had to go visit. The double sign was that the quilt shop gave away coupons during their event for one free piece of chocolate. So for my free piece of chocolate, I chose the red wine truffle. Oh my goodness, I had to close my eyes to savor it, the taste was that sensational! The shop itself is beautiful. It has tables inside so you can sit and enjoy their confections. All of the shelves are lined with all kinds of specialty chocolates. These include chocolate covered nuts, truffles, bars, Pops, and all kinds of delicious concoctions. You can order single pieces at the front counter for an individual choice and they will compose a box of your selections. They also had many, many packaged items ready to go on the shelves. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about their offerings. They were willing to explain the different flavors; the cost of a box of six individual truffles which you can select was $12.50. There's parking in front of the shop on the street and also behind. It's nestled in the Porterville downtown area with multiple Restaurants and eateries very close by. One could have a fun day window shopping, lunching out and then popping by Stafford's for a sweet treat and to buy gifts to take home. Absolutely not to be missed!
