Eh we got original beef jerky. I didn't like it but our older son did. He's 8. Owner didn't seem too excited or talkative. Seemed like we were bothering him doing whatever he was doing. We waited a bit and he saw us pull over and park. Never once came over to see if we needed help even though my husband waited at the counter. Then said he thought we were putting on tire chains. I think I accidentally disturbed the owner when I arrived, he seemed to be in the middle of something in the back and slightly annoyed. I didn't mean for you to have to open up the store just for me! I just saw that the sign said "open" from the road. That being said, this was some of the best jerky I've had in a while. I got the old fashioned beef jerky, and its very good. It has a soy sauce flavor to it so it is more salty than sweet, which I like. You know how when you buy beef jerky at the store and only about 50% of the pieces are actually the right texture for good jerky? Well this was 100%. Every single piece was good piece of jerky. I also got some of the venison. Not my personal favorite (had an unusual taste which I liked, but was a bit tougher than normal beef jerky) however my dad loved it, so buy a small pack and try it for yourself. Overall, if you are in the area, for sure stop by and try some jerky out, then across the street for candy because that place is also delicious. read more

What an amazing assortment of wild game jerky! I have to say after all that I'm still a Black Pepper kinda gal. The owner is busy with the campground and the vacation rental but always opens for me or anyone else who happens to come along during off hours. The jerky is quite good--but the service is extremely rude. The man who was working acted so irritated that we were scared to ask any questions about what types they had. We just pointed at one of the bags and left as soon as possible. We had similar service at the Village Market. Maybe there is some kind of a**hole bacteria in the water that causes people who work in Three Rivers to be horrible at customer service. We spend a lot of time in Three Rivers and we will never go back to either place. Someone should tell them to check their Yelp reviews. read more
