We entered the ice cream shop, the furthest to the right when viewed from Hwy 198(Sierra Dr.), and were immediately hit with the aroma of their freshly made waffle cones and bowls. After reviewing their in-house made ice cream flavors, my friend opted for Blueberry Pomegranate Gelato and Three Rivers Wild Blackberry in a waffle bowl and I chose the Wild Blackberry and Raspberry Cheesecake for my waffle bowl. We made our way through the gift shop, the furthest building to the left, and out to sit on the covered deck, where 2 red Adirondack chairs waited for us. For me, enjoying an ice cream treat whilst sitting on the back deck overlooking the river is a part of visiting Sequoia. Reimer's opened this flagship location in 1956 and it's a special place where hand made confections, created with the finest ingredients and proudly displayed, are offered alongside delicious ice cream, sherbet and gelato, with seasonal flavors highlighting local fruits, like our wild blackberry this day. The gift shop carries some local items featuring Sierra motifs, in case you need one last souvenir from your trip. Sparkling ornaments and decorations are available all year and add to the happy and festive nature of this classic gem of a roadside stop. The ice cream hit the spot, but the waffle bowl is a true standout. I don't know the secret recipe, but notes of vanilla hit my nose and hints of cinnamon danced on my tongue. SO good!
