The three magpies is a great place to sit and relax. With a great atmosphere and great staff it's a perfect place to go after a long day. I regularly stay at a nearby hotel for work and make the magpies an almost nightly stop. The food is pretty good and the beer selection is reasonable. However what makes the magpies most enjoyable is their staff. They are fun and a pleasure to interact with. read more

Best fish and chips we had during our visit to tthe UK!

Unfortunately we had a dreadful experience at this pub on the evening of Friday 06.09.19. Seven of us came to the pub and ordered food at around 2000, two of our colleagues were also there and had already ordered food. Approximately 45 minutes after ordering our dishes we were were told that it would be at least another 45 minutes as they were behind with the orders - later we all did comment that we hadn't in fact seen many plates coming out from the kitchen. Anyway, long story short; we waited approximately 30 minutes longer before two steaks were delivered - one to our table and one to our colleague on another table. Both plates were completely wrong and had to be sent back to the kitchen at least twice per plate before the people finally got the food they had ordered. 10 minutes later I decided to enquire as to where the rest of our food was (6 plates still to come) as the blonde tall waitress was making her way back to the kitchen - our table was by the kitchen door. As I politely asked her she cut me short saying 'IN A MINUTE' and STUCK TWO FINGERS UP TO ME as she hurried back into the kitchen .. yes you did read that correctly!!! Totally shocked by this a colleague sitting next to me who had witnessed this unprovoked abuse explained to another colleague on the other side of the table as she know something had happened by the look on my face. We were all absolutely disgusted with this outrageous reaction from the waitress. We did not complain at the time as we did not have our food - & did not want it tampered with before it came out of the kitchen. It was also way too late to deal with it at gone 2230 - when we had finally all had our food & decided to leave. There was a very considerate girl who had been brought over to the kitchen to help who did try to sort out the absolute carnage of the service to our table ... her attempts to explain the problems in the kitchen were much appreciate but by this time her colleague had scuppered any chance of us ever returning to your establishment. The friendly staff and now live acoustic music makes up for the average pub food. I was hoping for a great Shepherds Pie - The Steak & Ale pie was just average. I would rate it 3/5. I was nearby for a conference, and, seeing as our preferred dining destination was fully booked, we ended up at the Three Magpies. It wasn't too crowded, there was football showing on the big screen, prices seemed reasonable, and the menu was interesting. For instance, there were Korean chicken wings on the menu, a Korean chicken salad listed under "Classics", strangely enough, and a decently long list of gourmet burgers. I was intrigued and decided to order a wild boar burger with sweet potato chips. We also decided to order a starter of chicken wings. After a half-hour wait, we finally got our food... and, no, it wasn't quite worth the wait. The chicken wings were decent, but they definitely weren't Korean. They were just chicken wings with slices of red chillis placed on them. And my wild boar burger? It was just a pork burger. I was a disappointed. The only outstanding thing about my food were the sweet potato chips. The portion sizes were huge, which I suppose would have been a good thing if the food had been better. read more

We ended up at the Three Magpies with a large group after the Nine Worlds convention in a nearby hotel and loved it. The pub was very crowded, so there was an hour wait for food, but we didn't mind since we had lots to talk about and weren't in a rush. The staff are very friendly and handle the stress of an overcrowded pub well. Once the food arrived it was a pleasant surprise that it was really good pub food. We had a large variety of dishes across our group and everyone enjoyed their food. One vegetarian had the pesto and mozzarella burger, which according to her was amazing, I had the delicious lasagne and can highly recommend their cheesy garlic bread and the pulled pork. Especially for the prices they charge, the food is worth the wait, though it is quite a long wait. Even the desserts, which shouldn't have taken too long since cutting a slice of cake isn't a time intensive job, took over half an hour. However, if you have a few hours to kill and happen to be in the area, do give this pub a go! read more

Nice, typical English pub, which I did not expect to find in this location next to Heathrow airport's airfield and the many airport hotels. You'll get everything you'd expect from a pub like this: a good pint and some decent pub food for affordable prices. The only small complaint would be that it took quite some time until the food came out of the kitchen, even though the restaurant wasn't too busy that night. Worked for us though - gave us time to enjoy another draught. read more

I first stumbled across the Three Magpies Pub when I was walking down Bath Road Hounslow, near Heathrow Airport. The pub offers a couple rooms inside as well as a number of tables outdoors to enjoy those rare sunny days. There is also a nice fireplace that creates a very comfortable scene when wetter and cooler weather make things more suited for sipping your bitter indoors. This traditionally decorated English pub offers good food at reasonable prices in an exceptional atmosphere. They even offered several popular meals at a surprising 'two-for-one' special price; which was perfect for me since my visit was funded by struggling US dollars. Guests place their order at the bar and have their meals promptly delivered to their tables. The Three Magpies staff are friendly and polite. I am not (yet) a very well-known author, but I was pleasantly surprised and absolutely delighted when on my last visit the smiling, young, redheaded lady tending bar inquired about my first book "Relationslips". Over the past few years I have made an effort to visit whenever I've been in the area; oftentimes bringing along friends from other areas in London as well as those who've just arrived minutes before via nearby Heathrow. The place fills up after working hours, which is a good sign that the locals approve of the place; but the crowd has never been unruly during my extended bouts. Been near Heathrow on two occasions and have stopped here several times during both trips. Bangers are good as are the F&C and beef and ale. Cask selections are great, as their normal brew selection. Worth the walk from any nearby hotel. Plus you can watch the jet activity too. read more

We were looking for a place outside the hotel, and stumbled on the Three Magpies. Exactly what we were looking for. Get a table, go to the bar and order your food and beverage and sit back down. Shortly they will bring your food to your table. For London, a pretty good deal and much better than the hotels in the area. Of course we had to have fish n chips and a brew and ended up with a 8.05 meal. A pretty good deal for London and the food was quite good too. If you are stuck at a LHR hotel, not a bad place to stop for a pint or two. Friendly staff and a comfortable pub feel. read more

Great location for the business traveler staying around the airport. Typical pub menu and drinks. Try the Hawaiian chicken burger with a Weston's Traditional Scrumpy. The duty manager was super nice to us. I've been to London about 20 times for work and this is above average. read more

Such a poor experience. Which is a shame because the place has lots of character. The bar tender didn't have any ingredients for basic cocktails. After the third attempt at choosing one, he followed the recipe from a screen and didn't think to mix it. So I was left with 4 different drinks, layered on top of each other in 1 glass. This pub is within walking distance of the Ibis Heathrow hotel that I reviewed separately. If you stay at Heathrow airport and want to have the experience of dining in a pub, this is the real deal! It's a typical London pub with a good selection of libations and standard pub food. This 18th Century coaching inn, which in 1765 was known as the Three Pigeons, has been extensively restored but it is the only survivor of the many such inns that once lined the Bath Road in the vicinity of Heathrow. Just south of the Three Magpies is another unique survivor in the form of the barrel of an 18th Century cannon half-buried in the ground. It is rather difficult to see because it is on the fringe of the airport and surrounded by busy roads. So disappointing! I walked a mile from my hotel for an authentic pub experience, based on the Yelp reviews. The fish and chips was absolutely flavorless. Ordering from a laminated menu, ketchup in foil packets. The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more

The Three Magpies offers good food at reasonable prices in an exceptional atmosphere. The staff are polite, friendly and enjoyable to chat with. There are a number of seats outdoors to enjoy those rare sunny days and a small on-site parking lot. I first came to the Three Magpies simply because I was in the area, but have made an effort to return several times over the past few years; oftentimes bringing along new friends from other parts of London as well as those recently arriving into nearby Heathrow. I am not a well-known author (as of yet) but I was surprised and absolutely delighted when on my last visit the bartender mentioned my book "Relationslips". Just want to add that the other reviews are spot on. We travel to Europe twice a year. Many times we have a overnight to catch a early flight the next A.M. The hotels food and drink are way over priced and service is very poor. Its nice to sample the local flavor of a pub. Try the large ice cream sunday. Get it for 2 people. You wont believe the size of it. We get so full it is welcomed walk back to the hotel. Get out of the rut of the hotel experience and walk over to the Three Magpies and relax and enjoy. I went here with a daughter encouraged by the fact that they serve Cask Marque beer, and seemed like a nice alternative to the hotel restaurants along Bath Road. Well, as the rating suggests, I ended up rather disappointed. The two beers on tap worth mentioning were Hobgoblin and Bombardier, neither of which are really exciting, This could still have been a decent review if the food was good, but the best part of my stew with fries, vegetables and salad was the vegetables and the salad (which was rather nice), and the daughter's salmon with Asian noodles looked really dull, and apparently lived up to it. The staff was mostly cheerful, if tired looking -- we had the misfortune to arrive more or less simultaneously with a ton of members from a group staying at the same hotel as us, and were lucky to get a table. (I was told to expect a 45 minute wait for the food, which was about right.) I don't think I will return here, sadly, as this was closer to one star than to three. read more

They also did not clear my table until I asked them to, but then, they didn't even bother to wipe the table down! I eventually wiped it down myself. Ate there tonight. Very low end pub from my perspective. Menu was mostly fried food. You order your food from the bar - no wait staff beyond that. After a half hour waiting for my deep fried food, went to the bar to question why it was taking so long - was told there was an hour long wait for food. Would have been nice to know that when I ordered. My food finally came 60 minutes after I ordered. Not sure why it took an hour to throw shrimp and fries/chips into the frier. Restaurant was not crowded. Shrimp was also breaded shrimp parts and not whole shrimp as the menu had indicated. Don't waste your time here. Given proximity to Heathrow, they obviously don't rely too much on repeat customers. Look up the Pheasant Pub in the same area. You'll be much happier!! read more

Three Magpies is a pub which I visit quite regularly... or should I say I used to... Been there on Monday, the 5th of December. Ordered portion of nachos. Member of stuff (Filipino girl?) informed me that waiting time is about 30-45 minutes, quite long for microwave heated nachos but I said that it wasn't a problem for me. Also asked for a receipt but haven't received one, my server has disappear somewhere. After 1 hour and 15 minutes I asked that lady about my order. She informed me that my food is on the table from long time. Came back to my table but still no food. I came back to bar and asked once again and my server, clearly very annoyed because I dared to ask her about my order told me again that my food is on the table and went to talk with another customer. She was avoiding me for next 10 minutes, talking with customers who came after me. Finally our food was served; we received kind of meat platter instead of nachos so I went to talk with her once again. She was unbelievable rude and unhelpful, accused me of ordering wrong food. No sorry, no apologies, no refund because I was charged couple of pounds more than I should have. She said that they will make it AGAIN in couple of minutes. Was waiting half an hour for my correct order. Finally after 1 hour and 45 minutes we received our portion of nachos. It was burned; nachos were floating in tomato salsa, no sour cream. It wasn't eatable. I have worked in hospitality for couple of years on a every possible position, from waiter to manager but I have never seen so unbelievable rude, unhelpful and unprofessional like this lady who served us. read more
