I'm not sure if it is me, or if it is the English, but the bar staff really didn't seem to want to have a conversation here, despite the fact that the pub wasn't hugely packed. Okay, there wasn't a huge number of tables available, but it wasn't bursting at the seams, as was the case with other pubs that I had visited at other times (even though it was afterwork on a Wednesday). This pub was okay, and even had an outdoor area (though like most English pubs the outdoor area is predominantly for smokers as opposed to an outdoor dining culture). Like a lot of other pubs in the area it has the standard beers on tap, and I certainly wouldn't call it a craft beer bar. It was okay, but nothing all that spectacular, and like many of the other pubs that I had visited in my time in London,

Waiting for a table at a local restaurant and stopped in this traditional Pub for a pint . Got educated on the difference between cider, IPA and a Snake Bite (Cider, beer and cranberry).

Came here for my first dinner in London and got the big fish and chips and a meat pie with a couple of pints. Loved the fish and chips, not really a fan of the pie but that's just my personal preference. Really great bar staff- super friendly!

Not bad at all. I had a pumpkin-based veggie burger, which was really good, as well as a Punk IPA from Brewdog. All good. No complaints.

It is a good atmosphere inside due to the cosiness, and is in a great location between Carnaby Street and Regent Street.

Such a cute, old fashioned place. Really really loved this location- only went for pints and little…read moresnacks but area is gorgeous as well pub is very cute. Overall really enjoyable experience. Was rather packed and service is quick but able to snag seat. Recommend

Flew in on a Sunday and arrived at my hotel around noon. Immediately went to the concierge to see…read moreif he could secure me a spot since I had zero luck trying to get a reservation on line for two weeks prior. Remarkable, he scored and I literally walked around the corner and saw the long line to get into the pub first. I was seated immediately, however, and proceeded to enjoy a traditional Sunday Roast. Room was very pleasant (there are so many I got lost returning to my table from a bio brake. Roast was very good ( but no Lawry's) and the sides excellent. Could not decide if my favorite was the roast potatoes (crispy outside soft inside) or the glazed carrots. Yorkshire pudding was good but again, I am to used to the Lawry's and this is a different style. Peas were, well, peas, but very fresh. The sticky toffee cake was excellent and the Guinness fresh, creamy and a proper pour. Good thing because the selection of winners by the glass and half bottles of wine were both a little thin. Overall wine list was good but I was alone and not up for drinking a full bottle by myself. Overall, very enjoyable and to judge by the crowd and difficulty in getting a reservation, one of the more popular in town.

Lamb & Flag - Steak and ale pie

Historic London pub that I visited for lunch, at opening time. The bar actually opens before food…read moreis served so I grabbed a drink. Reservations recommended. Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.

You can't visit Central London without visiting a proper pub. And the Lamb & Flag is a proper pub…read morethat is worth a visit if you are taking a gander through Covent Garden. The bar itself has been known as the Lamb & Flag since 1833, but the property has been in existence going back to 1638, with it being a pub as early as 1772. The brickwork, as I discovered, is only a more recent buildout (1958). Being that I had researched online that the Lamb & Flag was one of the pubs to frequent, it was on my list to check out. Which we did on our second full day in London. I enjoyed a proper pint for the first time in a long time while my wife had her typical G&T. They were very appreciative that I paid in cash. The two drinks were 16 sterling, so I had no problem paying with a 20 note. Gave my credit card a breather. We grabbed some seats at a high-top table in the back of the pub at the tail end of the bar counter, where we enjoyed the come-as-you-are vibes and jovial chatter around us. A charming pub to enjoy a couple of drinks, and if you're hungry, upstairs serves a more bistro setting with a full menu of pub bites and main dishes.
