This is the only place I can shop. The staff is amazing and you can tell they try super hard to…read morefind the latest treads. I still wear clothes from 2006 because they know how to pick stuff that will be in style for a long time. They usually stretch me into trying stuff on that I would never think of. They made me look like a million dollars :)

I really love this store. Why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5? Because I cannot afford to love…read morethis store. They aren't gouging or anything, it's just high-end stuff. And I do not make high-end money. Great examples of the best of East Coast fashion...fairly subdued, and lots of black/white/grey. Which is golden for me, since I'm not the dude who can be thrown into a closet full of color and come out anything short of a disaster. And it's the home base of Cleveland-based fashion line "Wrath Arcane" which I've really developed a serious fetish for. I've managed to score a pair of their jeans and a scoodie so far. What the hell is a "scoodie", you ask? It's a scarf. With a hood. Hell yeah. I love the damn thing. Dan is the man at Brigade, and he's pretty much always the dude behind the counter. A solid guy, knows his stuff, and treats you like his bestest buddy from the moment you walk in the door. I've caught Brian O'Neill (owner) in there once or twice and he's a sterling dude. Great people, great clothes, and great service. Hell, when you buy something they wrap it up and carry it to the door for you! Made me feel all special. Like I was buying jeans in First Class or something.

Just no. Unless your idea of a fun shopping experience involves being judged by your sales…read moreassociates. See, I have what other's (and my husband) might call a slight handbag problem. I have a lot of them and I'm always looking for a new, fun brand. I had stumbled across a gorgeous blue Linea Pelle bag online that I just had to have for Christmas. Because I had no experience with that brand - I wanted to check it out in person to see what the color and leather were really like. None of the big mall stores carried it, so when I saw that it was carried at Kilgore Trout I felt really excited! And they carried Botkier! I'm sold! The girl working the handbag section was really sweet with great customer service and I felt like I would maybe be coming back to purchase a bag for Christmas. That is, until we stepped into the men's wear section for my husband to look around and the sale's guy from that side literally said to us "You guys just trying to get out of the cold?" as he ate his lunch. What!? No. We're not trying to "get out of the cold." We're trying to shop at your store d-bag. I'm sorry if we don't look like we want to buy $400 t-shirts, but ya know, there really were items that we were going to purchase! I was really trying to Shop Local for some of our big ticket items, but I'm going to be ordering this one online. =(

Kilgore Trout is a great store for men's clothing, and I would specifically recommend it for Zegna…read moresportcoats, suits, and made-to-measure items. Every member of the staff is friendly and extremely helpful. It is especially beneficial if, over time, you work with the same consultant, who can add a personal touch after they get a feel for your own preferences and what you have and don't have in your wardrobe. I've also come to really appreciate their eye for perfection and not simply settling for a "pretty good" or even "very good" fit when additional adjustments can be made. I would put the level of service and tailoring right up there with (if not higher than) the highly-regarded Bergdorf Goodman Men's store in New York. Why only 4 of 5 stars? It may be an unfair comparison, but, in the end, their available selection can't compare with the much bigger stores.
