I walked in to get my eyebrows done and they asked me to come back later because they were eating lunch. I thought that it was very strange to turn away business but I did end up coming back in the evening. I had my eyebrows threaded, which I've never had done before. The woman did a great job - possibly the best I've ever had. It does hurt though so I wouldn't necessarily recommend this over waxing if you are not up for a little extra pain. Afterwards I asked her if she might do a mini facial which they do offer and she said she'd rather not as my skin needed to calm down a little and that I should come back in a couple of days. They turned down my business again! But after the second time I decided that I really liked this place for doing that. They value lunch and they aren't after a quick buck. I came here around 1:15 PM during a late lunch because I didn't want to be waiting too long. The second I walked in she took me because there wasn't a line, however when I left there were three women waiting. I explained that the previous woman who did my brows (another place) messed them up so she made a bit of a plan for my current visit and next visit, which I love! I work in River East and the walk over wasn't bad so I'll totally be back! I believe it was about $10-$15 and I left a 15% tip. I recommend signing up for the email because it tracks your visits so you can eventually get a free treading! read more

After many disastrous eyebrow shaping experiences, I started regularly going to Thread Away about a year and a half ago. Nothing is worse than sitting in a chair explaining to a stylist how you want them to shape your brows and then they hand you the mirror when they are finished and you are horrified. Better yet then you have to walk around looking surprised for weeks until your brows grow back! The ladies at Thread Away are consistent and the location is convenient. They are slightly on the higher side with eyebrow threading costs at $15 but I think it is worth it for a great shape. They also have a card where you get points for each visit (10th visit free). I haven't tried any of their other services but I will continue to be a regular at this location for eyebrow threading! read more

I love my eyebrows, they're always perfect and they last! Kamini is amazing she remembers her clients and the shape they want. The salon is quiet and relaxing and they're quick! Even if you stay for the free forehead and temple massage that comes with the lotion application. Today was my second time at Thread Away. If I had written this review before today I would have given them a higher rating. First the praises: Great convenient location for people who work and live in and around River North. Friendly quick service. Nice music. Nice store. My first experience here was good, my eyebrows were an even thickness and she did a good job making them look very clean and neat. Next the criticisms: After I spoke to the esthetician about how I wanted my brows different this time, she made them look the same as they did last time. Okay this next part is my fault for not looking carefully enough, but when I got home I found a bald spot in one of my brows! luckily enough it was right above the inner corner of my eye so I could tweeze the entire edge off and be left with just a shorter eyebrow. Then I had to do the same to the other side to make them match again. This didn't happen the first time. But how could she miss it? I am debating whether to give them another try. If I do, then I will take a good long look in the mirror before I leave. read more

So I went here because of the good reviews at yelp, and I can say I was very disappointed. I'm also going to preface this by saying I've had my eyebrows threaded for the last year and a half by the same person before I moved to Chicago, so I know they can look GOOD. I don't know who the woman was who did it, but she messed me up! One of my eyebrows is thicker than the other and she said couldn't fix it. (WHY, I don't know). This is the most expensive threading I've had in Chicago ($15) and yet I keep coming back because it's worth it. In addition to being convenient to work, the ladies at thread away do a beautiful job. Best of all: when they ask if you want lotion, always say yes. The lotion is put on your newly done brows in the form of an awesome face massage which can lags a few minutes to quite a few minutes depending on how busy they are. With those massages in mind, I sometimes get my eyebrows done when I'm feeling stressed. I can't say it would gave occurred to me that yanking hair out of my face could be a stress relief before going to Thread Away. read more

I've been here twice now and I've never had to wait, I just walk straight in and get threaded right away. I was shocked that it was $15 just for an eyebrow clean up. That is way, way more than what I'm used to in Orange County and LA County. I'm used to paying $6 and I even get a frequent buyer card with that. So no frequent buyer cards here. But it is the most convenient location to me, living in the West Loop area. The people here are pretty nice too. They did a good job on my eyebrows and they even massaged my eyebrows with moisturizer after, which was a first! I'm sticking to this place (mainly because there isn't a closer place) but they do a pretty good and it's super convenient. read more

Use to go elsewhere for my brows (waxing in the Gold Coast area) but the lack of parking there and having to cab it was getting to me. So I yelped brow places closer to home (walking distance) and came across thread away. I've had two different people do my brows there, very happy with the results. If I do drive, there's a 15 min zone right in front and if it's open I just throw my flashers on. I'm always a walk-in, but I've never had to wait more than 5 mins. Make sure you get the massage after your brows! They do a nice temple massage for a few mins- no extra costs. The only con for this place is that they don't fill in your brows...(my former place/girl would finish my brows for me with her brow kit and show me how to do it at home). read more

Don't go to Farhana. Threading is supposed to be gentle, and she tore my skin up. I would have been able to live with that if she did a good job, but she wanted to leave me with uneven eyebrows and length and thickness. Then, she told me I was wrong when I showed it to her. Not only that, I specifically asked her to not make them thin, and she did just that. I used to like this place, but I am very disappointed right now. There aren't many (or any really) threading places in river north so when I came across this place after a girlfriend suggested this place, I gotta say - I am OBSESSED! Not with just the place which is super cute and very clean - I'm obsessed with FARHANA! I've only been here twice but every time, she has gone above and beyond ensuring my brows are perfect and sculpted. She takes her time and ensures that the shape is perfect and the way it's supposed to be in regards to your face. She's very meticulous, precise and I've ever never come home and seen a single stray (hair, that is!). After she's done with your brows, she also gives the best eyebrow massage and is always kind enough to even offer a aloe gel or lotion preference. I'll definitely continue to keep going back!! Finally a great place to go for eyebrow threading in the loop! I've been on a mission to find a great place for threading in the city - I found that the good and inexpensive places are on devon or the northshore suburbs (Bollywood Salon in Skokie - $6 + awesome service!) and the salons in the city are overpriced and I have never been completely satisfied - I noticed that I walk out with super red skin and in pain after leaving Sonia's located in Andersonville and Wicker Park and the staff in primarily young girls. I have to say that Thread Away exceeded my expectations. The salon was small, but roomy enough, clean, comforatable, cute, and the staff was very friendly and not pushy. The woman who threaded my eyebrows did an amazing job - she followed my instructions to "clean up" my eyebrows and noticed that I had very sensitive skin and made the procedure painless within a reasonable amount of time. She also made sure that both eyebrows were even (my eyebrows are naturally uneven) and was not pushing me to try out other services. The price is good for the city - $15 and you get a coupon card for frequent visits (I rarely see those nowadays). For a first visit, I will definately go back again. I just hope that the service is consistent. read more

Excellent in a pinch; yes it's $15 (twice what it would cost on Devon) but you don't have to go all the up to Devon! Quick, efficient, and open to direction/criticism. I would recommend that you go elsewhere for intense shaping and just here for maintainence/light arching. While the women are great at threading, I don't know if brow design is their specialty. read more

Thread Away is clean, quick and does a great job but it is expensive. I walked in right before 5pm and only had to wait one or two minutes for my service. The lady who did my eyebrows (I didn't get her name) was really nice and asked me what I wanted and definitely paid attention to me. She was extremely quick and didn't go over the same area multiple times. The thread that she used was finer than I've ever had and it makes a big difference (meaning less pain). This was the most painless experience I've ever had. What I love is that I got a quick facial massage afterwards when she applied the lotion to cool any redness. My biggest problem is that it's $15. I exclusively get my eyebrows threaded and This is perhaps the most I've ever paid for eyebrow threading. It's at most $12 and as low as $5/$7 (I've been to a spa for threading and that was $27, but that's an anomaly) What I also liked about this place is that they have Square, which makes payments much easier. read more

I just had my eyebrows threaded for the first time here on my lunch break. Not only do my eyebrows look fantastic the woman who id them was so friendly. I went in on my lunch break and received extremly quick service. They were so patient even when I kept having to stop them in the middle becuase I was about to sneeze or my eyes were watery. I think the envionment is fantastic and it is definately worth the price for conveniece, friendly service, and a clean sterile atmosphere. I just stopped by this place for the first time today. The environment is very clean , warm and inviting. True, the eyebrow threading here costs a bit more. However, there is very little to no redness/ irritation afterwards and the woman was extremely friendly and did a wonderful job! I used to get threading in manhattan for $5, but my eyelids would be red for a day. Having my threading here in chicago, there was no redness at all & I was very happy about that. The bikini wax was also relatively painless. Overall, a very good experience! I got both the bikini wax and threading done in about 25 minutes. They are also open on the weekends, both Sat/ Sun which is very convenient since I live in the area. I called that morning to make an appointment, but it looks like you can just walk-in and it wouldn't be a problem. read more
