After waiting to be helped, I was told it was sold. The excuse was "no holds without payment" -- never mentioned over the phone. No apology, no accountability, just a dismissive attitude. I was shopping around to upgrade my lease on my 2021 Jeep Wrangler and while I looked all over the Bay Area, I found Thompson Family of Dealers that had a great price on the make and model was looking for. I dropped her off at 830 and by 1230 I had a text that she was ready. When I picked her up, Christopher explained an issue with my alignment that wasn't going to be an issue in the long run. Just a couple mins ago, I got a follow up call from him to be sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I was pleasantly surprised and told him everything was great. I've had issues in the past with another dealership who basically took me for a ride, likely because I was a woman. If you are in the market for a Jeep, there is no better place to go.  I had visited a few other dealers in the Folsom area and left a bit frustrated. A friend told us to go up the hill and I would get the service I was looking for, and he was correct. I was quite disappointed that this dealership pulled what it seemed like the Patriot Act scam: https://www.creditcards.com/statistics/patriot-act-credit-check-scam-auto-car-loan/. I was basically told that when I'm ready to purchase a vehicle with my own financing, a finance application must be filled out with the dealership. I was really confused as to why would I need to fill out a finance application when I've already secured my own. Then I looked it up and found multiple articles of this scam where dealers do this just to make a few more bucks off of you. I've dealt with many dealerships before and this is the first I've ever come across this. After I texted the salesperson this that I've never heard of this before, I never got a response back. I also reach out to the General Manager and got no response. I really had high hopes of this place because of their great customer service but all my trust with them went down the drain when this happened. I used to take my vehicles to the Folsom Chrysler Jeep service center. Service was always mixed, sometimes good, other times not. Most recently, I took my Jeep Wrangler in for an electrical problem that turned out just to need a new battery. It took over three days before they even got to my vehicle. My brother-in-law told me never to go to Folsom, and instead, drive 50 miles up the road to Thompson Jeep Chrysler in Placerville. I recently went in with a death wobble issue and could not believe the service and level of attention I received. It felt like I was in a Mercedes dealership. Not just incredible service, but complementary beverages, snacks, coffee, lattes, and most of all Service advisor Lee, who made my experience, one of the best auto servicing experiences ever. My truck is under warranty. It began having a mechanical problem and since it's under warranty I took it to Thompsons. Service writer Lee Fleming got it in early from the date I was told on the phone, which I appreciated. That is where anything good ended. They scanned my truck and found that it had indeed stored codes for an engine misfire. They continued with a diagnostic after switching some coils around and clearing fault codes. No more check engine light. Well, of course not, they cleared the code out. No repairs, no looking any deeper into the problem. Just switch 2 coils, clear the codes and voila, you're good. They then charged me $205.00 for diagnostics. Ummm it's under warranty, and you DID find a problem but all you did was make the notification of it go away. That's just fraudulent. I would have zero problem paying for diagnostics if no problems were found, but this was not the case. read more

Please be advised, be careful with the service department at Thompsons. The actions (or inaction) of their Service Manager, as detailed in this post, reflects poorly on an otherwise good car dealership. This review is based on a recent visit to Thompsons for service on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I dropped my Jeep off, and was later informed that main battery in my Jeep had failed a test, was the source of the problem, and that it needed to be replaced before they could proceed with any repairs. This sounded odd, as I had replaced the main battery in my Jeep in May of 2023, several weeks after I purchased the Jeep from Thompsons. However, batteries do fail. It happens. I paid their $200+ diagnostic fee, picked up the Jeep, and replaced the main battery the same day. I then took the original main battery back to the retailer I purchased it from in 2023. They tested the battery as part of their warranty return process, and I was informed that the battery tested good. OK. I then took the original main battery to a MOPAR Dealership in Folsom, and asked them to test the original battery. The Folsom Jeep Dealership told me that the original main battery tested good. I then took the suspected main battery to another battery retailer, and asked them to test it. They told me that the original main battery tested good. I had documentation from two of the three (3) tests. I then contacted the Service Manager at Thompsons by phone and explained the situation. He sounded skeptical over the phone, but agreed to let me bring the original main battery back to be retested at Thompsons. The next day, while their technician took the suspected failed main battery for testing, I showed Thompsons Service Manager the documented battery test results. He went and found the original service order and showed me their test results, which indicated that my main battery had failed their test. Then the technician returned with the result of the Thompsons battery re-test and, wait for it... it was a good. Mistakes happen, I get that. However, the Service Manager just stood there and refused to acknowledge that Thompsons could have possibly made a mistake. He had no explanation for the discrepancy, and in no way, shape, or form, did he try and address the issue or make things right. He just stood there and glared at me. Now I own two (2) good batteries, I am out the $200+ diagnostic fee, and the issue I originally brought the Jeep in for is still unresolved. Maybe the Service Team at Thompsons does not care if they lose a customer. I purchased my Jeep from Thompsons, but I guess that does not matter either. No exactly great customer service. read more

ZERO STARS!!----Picking a car was easy enough, until the paperwork came, and explained to my father (English is not his first language) in a rushed manner. He signed and then went to finance. STEVEN is a manipulative snake. "Explained" the docs my dad was electronically signing. Then raved about how a security system was "INCLUDED" in the price. Spoiler* it was not. We got home and reviewed the docs and found out they tacked on an extra $1100. Barry texted next morning asking us how the process went, and when I informed him what had happened, he assured to help. He also told me we must of missed it in the "excitement of buying a new truck" . I assured him there wasn't any excitement. He also proceeded to tell me they include this charge because they were vandalized and it's essentially an insurance policy for themselves. I told him the customers shouldn't foot the bill. It took me multiple calls and 5 days to get a hold of someone. That someone was Barry, who told me we were made aware of the charges (we weren't) and then he hung up on me. I am used to dealing with a different dealership (bought at least 20 trucks from them) and they are transparent and show me the msrp and take discounts from there. After purchasing the truck from Thompsons I found the window sticker that was removed from the truck in the glovebox. Guess what! They sold me the truck for the "No Haggle Price" of just $3000 over MSRP! On a used truck! Shame on me for trusting them, was a expensive lesson. Not the first time I've had a bad experience with the service department. Avoid if 6/21/2023 I update this again to inform people how terrible this dealership is. I've waited TWO years for a safety recall and when they finally have an appointment for me they told me the shuttle doesn't go to my home nor will they provide a vehicle when they have my truck due to a RECALL. TLDR, Buyer Beware! Began working on a Friday evening with Jeff in sales for a 2020 Ram 1500. All was going well and he said they were closing and would contact me Saturday morning. Come Saturday morning he didn't call, I finally followed up around 11am and he said he would work on it and call me back in 10 minutes. Fast forward several hours and no phone call I again followed up. We went back and forth about the dollars and cents and came to an agreement, he said "I'm going to go check with my manager right now, but someone else is sitting here looking at it" I said "I'm willing to do it at XYZ price and can he do a bedliner for me?" he said he'd call me back...Only to call back and tell me that they'd sold the truck and that it was my fault but that they have a newer one they could get me for a little more, I was angry but ultimately agreed as the inventory is so low. He said ok let me talk to my manager I'll call you right back....no phone call. I finally texted and he wrote me back "I got yelled at for asking them, and that's all I can say/text." I bought 2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk brand new from Thompsons. We purchased the Mopar warranty. We serviced this vehicle regularly with Thompsons since we drove it off the lot. I've never taken this vehicle off road. I've taken it to the snow once. My jeep currently has 73,000 miles on it. The first error in the vehicle was the plastic piece under the seat. They replaced it 3 times. They kept saying it was me that was breaking it until I finally asked to speak to the manager and then he tells me that jeep has been having issues with this seat so then they ordered the new piece. The second error was the Auxiliary battery. They replaced it but then my other battery was drained because the auxiliary battery sucked up all the juice. Had to pay to replace that. Then the aux light still keeps coming on and I'm sure it's continuing to suck the life out of my new battery. Lastly, the worst of the worst happened. My oil light came on after 1 month of having my oil changed. I checked my oil and I was a quart low. Then my temperature was rising and falling so I checked my fluids. None. I called Thompsons and they told me to bring it in for an appointment I said no you are going to fill my fluids now and When I got there they proceeded to tell me that the jeeps leak oil and it's common. They filled my coolant and send me on my way. My oil light comes on again about 2 weeks later and I bring the jeep back in. They proceed to tell me how common this is. Then after they diagnose my jeep they tell me I blew a head gasket. I get a rental through my mopar. BE aware mopar only covers 5 days of rental. I call them 4 days later and they tell me I have a cracked engine and they have to replace my entire engine. Oh and guess what Lee says? It's common in these jeeps! If this is so common then why are so many people driving jeeps? I researched and I can't find that jeeps commonly blow engines. So now they have to order the engine and they are arguing with Chrysler about the engine and whether or not it's internal or external so they have nooooo idea when my jeep will be fixed. I can't get an extension on my rental unless I rent an actual car, pay it then show receipts and they will consider review. Thompsons won't help me with getting a loaner vehicle. Nothing. They are the worst! Good thing I got that Mopar warranty because it's going to cover the cost of the engine but why would a company basically tell their customers that their product is crap? I reported this company to the BAR. I think more customers should when they have a bad experience. Update 5/17/24 My Jeep is still in the service department. I have been without a vehicle for almost 2 weeks. Not one offer for a loaner vehicle. There was an issue with the system accepting my phone number so dealers didn't have a way to contact me other than e-mail.
